Role Purpose

  • As part of providing life protecting products, testing and traceability of the products in-process and prior to shipment to customer is hugely important. 
  • Evolving test hardware and software to support production operations in an effective and efficient manner whilst growing our output is a key.
  • The Manufacturing Test Engineer (MTE) will define, develop, implement and improve product test processes and hardware / software in the production environment.
  • Forming part of global operations and reporting into the Manufacturing Engineering Manager, the Manufacturing Test Engineer will work cross-functionally with Product Design and Testing, Production and Manufacturing functions and be instrumental in the design and development of product testing processes and equipment from conception through to production support and continuous improvement. 

Key Qualifications and Experience Required

  • The Manufacturing Test Engineer will be time served experience in an electro-mechanical manufacturing and production environment, educated to degree level (ideally) in mechanical engineering, electronics, controls or closely related subject matter.
  • Experience in electronics and software / hardware design and manufacturing systems design.
  • Strong track record in continuous improvement, project management, fault rectification and production support roles
  • Be able to evidence an aptitude for detail, process control and documentation.
  • Experience interacting with and leading cross functional improvement groups on the shop floor.
  • Demonstrate a flexible, inclusive and pro-active approach to identifying and resolving problems.

About You

  • The Manufacturing Test Engineer will be a process led, proactive problem solver, data led and analytical in nature.
  • Having good background skills in project, task and prioritisation management and communication you will be able to demonstrate experience in electronics and testing at a practical level, preferably in a similar environment or industry. An ability to work and resolve issues within a high-pressure production environment, quickly and accurately is a must. 

Key Areas of Responsibility of The Role Include

  • Test Definition - Using product and process knowledge to define & develop testing solutions, including hardware / software and process application.
  • Reporting and Data – Defining and analysing data capture and information, interpreting results and driving improvement.
  • Process Support – Developing and documenting test processes and providing support to operations teams. Manage test process adherence and training.
  • Hardware / Software Support – Maintenance management, fault resolution, Test system safety and calibration
  • Product Testing – Supporting production test processes to understand and resolve test failures.
  • New Capability – Support Product development with testing capability and continuous improvements initiatives with global standardisation in mind

Candidate Requirements

  • The Senior Electronics Engineer will hold a degree or similar qualification in Electronics Engineering or a comparable subject.
  • Proven experience in embedded firmware design, development, and testing would be a huge advantage, along with, firmware unit, integration, and system testing.
  • Solid experience in electronics hardware design, development, and testing; including PCB schematic design and layout.
  • The Senior Electronics Engineer will have EMC design and test experience.
  • New product development, and design validation process – FMEA, DFM. 
  • Creation of supporting design documentation, development reports, BoM, build packs.
  • Experience of electronics design within a highly regulated industry, with experience of working with third party approval/certification bodies.
  • Experience in architecture design and architecture design tools, with a familiarity of machinery safety standards or similar.

Key Responsibilities

  • The Senior Electronics Engineer will be a lead electronics resource for the business.  
  • Identify areas of improvement and assist implementing new processes.

  • Understanding of our manufacturing process – press / stamping, laser cutting, press brake, MIG welding, projection welding, machining and mechanical assembly.
  • Know how to work with automation equipment. 
  • CAD and SolidWords experience preferred.

Supplier Quality and Compliance Manager Salary, Hours and Benefits

  • £45,000 - £50,000
  • 37.5 hours per week, with some flexibility and an early Friday finish

Supplier Quality and Compliance Manager Candidate Requirements / Key Responsibilities

  • Factory/supplier audit, assessment and approval – ideally lead auditor qualified / experienced
  • Supplier improvement & development
  • Monitor and stay abreast of global regulatory compliance requirements
  • Evaluation of performance against regulatory compliance requirements
  • Defining AQLs and DCLs internally and with suppliers
  • Factory QC training
  • Staff technical training
  • Control of non-conforming products
  • Customer focussed approach
  • Willingness to travel (up to 10% of the role will include travel)
  • Technical / Engineering capability 
  • Developing factory capabilities
  • Verification of product specification 
  • Identification of compliance criteria
  • Inspection standard generation/negotiation
  • People management of small team
  • Experienced in multi-site operations
