The purpose of the Mechanical Design Team Leader is to manage a team of mechanical design engineers of a specific product sector. This requires hands-on technical design leadership, in addition to managing the team workload, communication, quality, and long-term professional development of the team.

Pay, Hours and Benefits

  • £55,000
  • Monday to Thursday, 8:30am – 5pm, 1:30pm Finish on Friday’s

Mechanical Design Team Leader Candidate Requirements

  • Strong hands-on experience in 3D design, analysis and testing of mechanical systems
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to develop innovative solutions
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and prioritise accordingly
  • Experience leading and developing other engineers
  • Commercially aware
  • A level of flexibility is required, as some UK and Global Travel is included

Mechanical Design Team Leader Key Responsibilities (but not limited to)

Technical

  • Provide technical direction to the team, producing sound engineering solutions to engineering problems, backed up with design analysis where appropriate.
  • Develop and implement innovative solutions to problems incorporating the latest materials, manufacturing processes and technology to drive the product range forward.
  • Manage product developments, ensuring changes are controlled and implemented across the product range to maintain a standard equipment offering
  • Take overall design responsibility for projects assigned to the team and manage them from project launch to completion ensuring all project deliverables are met.
  • Ensure all required design standards and legislation are met and that supporting documentation is produced and approved.
  • Take responsibility for equipment quality, resolving any design problems found during manufacturing or commissioning. 
  • Coordinate technical support to sales to help produce accurate project proposals and to manage project risk.

Team Management

  • Direct day-to-day management of team members.
  • Recruitment and training plans for direct reports as well as mentoring of junior engineers.
  • Management of project cost, schedule and quality.
  • Review and provide feedback on prospects incl schedule, design hours and project risk.
  • Deputise for the Engineering Manager or other Lead Sector Engineers when needed.
  • Drive and be a role model for the company values & behaviours.
  • To be aware of and follow all company Health & Safety policies and procedures, in respect of self and others.

Duties for Production Operations Manager

  • Lead, manage and develop the manufacture and dispatch of products

Requirements for a Production Operations Manager

  • Significant previous Production and Warehouse Operations Management experience

  • To have managed where there is a high level of automation

  • Degree level education or equivalent 
  • Previous experience of budget control and management

We have an exciting opportunity for a Junior Design Engineer to join an engineering business in Lichfield that manufacture world renown engineer solutions

Electrical Design Engineer Candidate Requirements

  • HND or suitable electrical engineering design experience. A Degree would be useful but isn’t essential.
  • Have a minimum of 2 years experience working in a senior electrical design role.
  • Proven Electrical CAD experience.
  • Ability to create detailed Schematic and harness drawings.
  • You will have hands-on / practical experience, not only theoretical, with the ability to fault find. 
  • A person who is product centric, with an appreciation for product development and product launch.

  • The Electrical Design Engineer will have a Quality, Cost and Delivery (QCD) focussed approach to product development.
  • Responsible for generation and delivery of concept and manufacturing design definitions, based on technical specifications, requirements, relevant standards, and other constraints.
  • Responsible for the conceptual development of new product solutions in the scoping phase of programmes.
  • Participate in developing and maintaining relevant engineering processes and procedures.
  • Problem solving on existing products and product improvement.
  • Responsible for evaluating technical issues in order to develop proposals for investigations and/or solutions.
  • Planning, controlling and delivering assigned projects, ensuring requirements are delivered to plan, budget and costs.
