The Role
The Mechanical Design Engineer will be responsible to the Mechanical Engineering Manager. You will join an established mechanical engineering design department, who are looking for a self-motivated, enthusiastic person, who is looking for a permanent role in a busy engineering design environment.

Key Responsibilities
- Produce engineering drawings for the manufacture of client’s range of bespoke and new products and their derivatives. Liaising with Production and Installation departments to ensure best practices are implemented.
- Compile bills of materials (BOMs) via SAP for existing and newly designed products.
- Produce calculations as required during the preparation of designs and drawings.
- Modify and update drawings, calculations and BOMs to suit revised designs as required.
- Make site surveys and attend site meetings as and when necessary and produce reports as required.
- Issue drawings and maintain records in accordance with the Quality Assurance Scheme.

Design Engineer Role Overview
Our client is looking for an additional Design Engineer to assist in delivering even more life changing products to their customers.

Person Specification
- The Design Engineer will need a strong mechanical bias, ideally coming from an automotive background (but not essential).
- Able to apply your fabrication skills to the bespoke design of various products.
- You must fulfill the demanding requirement of delivering both customer functionality and manufacturing repeatability, whilst providing on-site fitters with a solution which can readily be installed on site, with the minimum of inconvenience.
- The design journey must be documented to a high standard, with the information provided enabling other stakeholders within the business to prepare the engineers’ design for market. As such, the candidate should be proficient in the basic Microsoft packages, and ideally have an aptitude for CAD style drawing packages or similar.
- Optimal customer service is a pre-requisite for client and as such, the candidate should be comfortable in dealing with their customers on a one-to-one basis as the situation may occasionally dictate.
- Underpinning all of the above they are looking for a confident, self-motivated individual who enjoys the challenge of solving problems yet is able to deliver a high standard of work within a challenging timeframe.

The Role
