A role has become for an experienced Quality Inspector, to join a prestigious, busy manufacturing organisation in the Stockport area.

As a Quality Inspector, your role will involve overseeing the quality inspection of our precision machined components and assemblies. It is your responsibility to ensure that these components and assemblies adhere to the standards mandated by the customer and meet regulatory requirements in alignment with ISO9001/AS9100 standards. This hands-on position requires you to conduct daily inspections of components and oversee the quality checks for all our products associated with the Aerospace, Medical, Motorsport, Rail, and Defence industries.

Quality Inspector Responsibilities:

  • In charge of hands-on quality inspections for precision machined components and assemblies to ensure compliance with customer and regulatory requirements as per ISO9001/AS9100 standards. 
  • Utilize precise measuring equipment to verify that all aspects of parts and finished goods meet specified specifications. 
  • Conduct "in-process" inspections across all departments on the shop floor. 
  • Collaborate with the Quality team to maintain and enhance overall quality, proactively preventing non-conformances.
  • Coordinate with the Production team to establish controls and enhancements, minimizing rework and rejection rates. 
  • Work closely with the Quality team to identify, investigate, and address non-conformities, implementing corrective actions and improvements. 
  • Lead by example, motivating colleagues to achieve continuous improvement and adherence to standards. 
  • Collaborate with the Quality team to plan and execute Internal Audits, ensuring the appropriateness and robustness of business processes from planning through to audit closeout.

Quality Inspector Requirements:

To be eligible for this position, an ideal candidate should possess a background in Quality inspection or engineering, preferably gained in a precision manufacturing machine shop or engineering setting. 

Demonstrated success as a Quality engineer or inspector, or a seasoned mechanical engineer

  • Proficiency in reading and interpreting 2D and 3D drawings.
  • Competency in using Coordinate Measuring Machine (CMM) machines.
  • Sound understanding of Precision Engineering techniques.
  • Previous involvement in a highly regulated Precision Machining or Quality Engineering role.
  • Experience in an ISO Accredited facility, such as ISO 9001/AS9100.
  • Familiarity with Lean manufacturing practices and proficiency in manufacturing quality tools like Statistical Process Control (SPC), Process Validation, Risk Analysis (FMEA), First Article Inspection Reports (FAIR), etc.
  • Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to identify root causes.
  • Completion of Internal Audit Training.
  • Intermediate level proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).

Role Overview

Reporting to the Operations Director and working alongside local Colleges and the Senior Leadership team. The Apprentice Training Manager will organise, manage and coordinate the company Apprentice Training Programme in association with the local college, along with the development of all staff in any training requirements.  

The role will also involve supporting the Operations Director in Health & Safety Management as required.

Apprentice Training Manager Salary and Hours

  • £38,000 - £40,000
  • 38 hours per week, Monday - Thursday 8:00am - 4:45pm, 1:00pm finish on Friday's

Apprentice Training Manager Candidate Requirements

  • Proven experience of Apprentice Training Management / Training Coordination.
  • Degree qualified ideally, or relevant experience gained.

  • Proven track record of management specific to a training environment.
  • Experience and past history of successfully managing Apprentices and the associated training programme.

Apprentice Training Manager Key Responsibilities

  • Meet all core values of the business.
  • To have a full understanding of the Production and Company KPI’s.
  • Represent the company well to all internal & external parties.
  • Daily management of all Apprentices.
  • Manage the recruitment process including the adverts & interviews.
  • Daily training of 1st year apprentices (training school).
  • Influence and control apprentice funding/Levy.
  • Manage & support learning unlimited Derby with college delivery.
  • Complete internal apprentice reviews every 6-8 weeks.
  • To have good, I.T skills.
  • To cascade batch card release and sawing off requirements to the steel stores department.

My client is looking for a Tooling Engineer who will report to the Tooling Leader to join their Monday-Friday day shifts. 

Tooling Engineer Benefits:

Tooling Engineer Responsibilities:

  • Service and maintain injection moulding tools and ensure smooth running of production plans.
  • Attend tool breakdowns and diagnose/ resolve tooling issues.
  • Regular checks of power tools and equipment used.
  • Liaise closely with the Tooling Leader on tooling issues regarding production downtime, low stock levels, planned preventative maintenance, and reactive repairs.
  • Ensure full compliance with Health, Safety and Environmental standards.

Tooling Engineer Requirements:

  • Mechanical/fitting training
  • Knowledge of Sequential gate hot runner systems.
  • Knowledge of hydraulic/ pneumatic cylinders in relation to hot runner systems and tooling cores.
  • Good communication skills.
  • Ability to work alone or with a team dependent on jobs.
  • Experience of using lathes, milling machines and surface grinder tables.
  • Basic understanding of electrics associated with tool heating and controls.
