As a Quality Inspector, your role will involve overseeing the quality inspection of our precision machined components and assemblies. It is your responsibility to ensure that these components and assemblies adhere to the standards mandated by the customer and meet regulatory requirements in alignment with ISO9001/AS9100 standards. This hands-on position requires you to conduct daily inspections of components and oversee the quality checks for all our products associated with the Aerospace, Medical, Motorsport, Rail, and Defence industries.

Quality Inspector Responsibilities:

  • In charge of hands-on quality inspections for precision machined components and assemblies to ensure compliance with customer and regulatory requirements as per ISO9001/AS9100 standards. 
  • Utilize precise measuring equipment to verify that all aspects of parts and finished goods meet specified specifications. 
  • Conduct "in-process" inspections across all departments on the shop floor. 
  • Collaborate with the Quality team to maintain and enhance overall quality, proactively preventing non-conformances.
  • Coordinate with the Production team to establish controls and enhancements, minimizing rework and rejection rates. 
  • Work closely with the Quality team to identify, investigate, and address non-conformities, implementing corrective actions and improvements. 
  • Lead by example, motivating colleagues to achieve continuous improvement and adherence to standards. 
  • Collaborate with the Quality team to plan and execute Internal Audits, ensuring the appropriateness and robustness of business processes from planning through to audit closeout.

Quality Inspector Requirements:

To be eligible for this position, an ideal candidate should possess a background in Quality inspection or engineering, preferably gained in a precision manufacturing machine shop or engineering setting. 

Demonstrated success as a Quality engineer or inspector, or a seasoned mechanical engineer

  • Proficiency in reading and interpreting 2D and 3D drawings.
  • Competency in using Coordinate Measuring Machine (CMM) machines.
  • Sound understanding of Precision Engineering techniques.
  • Previous involvement in a highly regulated Precision Machining or Quality Engineering role.
  • Experience in an ISO Accredited facility, such as ISO 9001/AS9100.
  • Familiarity with Lean manufacturing practices and proficiency in manufacturing quality tools like Statistical Process Control (SPC), Process Validation, Risk Analysis (FMEA), First Article Inspection Reports (FAIR), etc.
  • Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to identify root causes.
  • Completion of Internal Audit Training.
  • Intermediate level proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).

Quality Engineer Responsibilities:

  • Conduct both internal IATF, quality & process audits
  • Support the engineering change process through weekly meetings and be responsible for APQP requirements.
  • Support annual testing schedule for all our products using an external laboratory. 
  • Support NPI
  • Control and manage internal non-conforming parts/supplier rejects, system and non-conforming material area 
  • Support with new projects throughout the APQP process as plant quality representative. 
  • Support the other departments with 8D resolution of quality issues
  • Scrap reduction
  • Control and manage the calibration schedule of all internal equipment through internal inspections & external calibration services. 
  • Support manufacturing, co-ordinate internal product/process improvement. •
  • Monitor internal scrap and help conduct scrap improvement activities with the plant team. • 
  • Manage supplier certificates of conformity documentation, monitoring and recording data submitted. 

Quality Engineer Duties:

  • Quality Engineering experience
  • Proven problem-solving abilities using 8D, PPAP’s and APQP
  • Knowledge of ISO9001 and IATF16949
  • Auditor /Lead Auditor qualification desirable
  • Knowledge of lean manufacturing techniques, such as 5S and Poke Yoke
  • To have the ability to form strong working relationships
  • Customer /Supplier exposure

Role Overview

Reporting to the Quality Assurance Manager, the Supplier Quality Engineer will design, develop, inspect and improve the quality standards of operational processes and manufacturing outputs.  

Supplier Quality Engineer Candidate Requirements

Please note that the experience mentioned below is an ‘ideal’, the right candidate would not need to have knowledge of everything.

  • Experience in a similar quality role within a manufacturing environment would be a significant advantage.
  • HNC/HND or Degree Qualified Mechanical Engineer would be advantageous.
  • Internal Auditor – ISO 9001:2015 minimum requirement.  Lead auditor would be an advantage.
  • Membership of Charted Quality Institute would be advantageous.
  • Any experience of either: Lean Six Sigma, 8D problem solving, Kaizen, 5-Why, Fishbone.
  • Experienced in using ERP systems, and Microsoft Office Suite.  Salesforce experience would be advantageous.
  • Metrology, CMM, experience would be nice but is not essential.

Supplier Quality Engineer Key Responsibilities

The below will vary, as your training progresses. 

  • Assist the Quality Team in audit follow-up through to closure of any minor/major NCRs raise during the audit.
  • Participate in cross-functional teams to support new product development, quality improvement, and cost savings projects.
  • Interact with other departments including suppliers and customers regarding quality matters.
  • Be a point of contact when Quality Assistance is required in dealing with manufacturing, supply chain and customer related issues.
  • Ensure that Root Cause Analysis is being carried out in a timely manner and to provide support to the rest of the team as required.

Maintenance Electrician Duties:

  • Trouble shooting and Fault Finding on various machines including Injection Moulding Machines, Extruders, Grinders, Rotational Moulding Machines, and associated ancillaries.
  • Planned Preventative Maintenance.
  • Identifying parts required to carry out repairs and providing details to the Maintenance Manager.
  • Using blueprints, wiring diagrams and manufacturer’s installation manuals to complete projects.
  • Testing of fixed installations.
  • Some building maintenance such as lighting & small power.
  • Installation of 3 phase supplies & associated switchgear.
  • Highlighting potential problems with aging switchgear and advising the correct course of action for rectification.

Maintenance Electrician Requirements:

  • Experience with Siemens and Mitsubishi PLC’s. – Strong fault-finding abilities 
  • Experience with Grinders, Extruders, Injection Moulding machinery. 
  • Ideally experience within Single and 3 phase systems. 
  • Dealing with some Plant maintenance such as Lighting and Small power. 
  • Must be Apprentice trained, holding a Formal qualification in Electrical engineering. 
  • 17th or 18th Edition trained/compliant.
 

CNC Programmer / Setter / Operator (Milling or Turning)

Due to an expansion, we are now recruiting for several roles! We offer a good variety of job roles, A good level of experience would be ideal but not overly required as some training can be provided. Roles include both manual work and machining (see below)

Salary/Benefits and Night Shifts for CNC Programmer / Setter / Operator

  • Starting salary at £28,000 up to £35,000 (DOE)  
  • Company pension with a total weekly contribution of 8%.
  • Health and Safety bonus system every 6 months for qualified individuals.
  • Overtime paid at time 1/3 + Sundays paid at time 1/2.
  • Monday to Thursday 8am – 4:30pm – Friday: 8am – 1am

Requirements for CNC Programmer / Setter / Operator

Manual:

  • Have experience of setting and operating manual boring machines or have a similar background (in either milling or turning)
  • Work to customer issued drawings and specifications to produce medium to heavy work pieces.
  • Have the ability to self-inspect parts.

CNC Borers:

  • Roles available for experience in Heidenhain control systems and Fanuc (Fanuc also uses Cimcon CADCam for programming)
  • Work to customer issued drawings and specifications to produce medium to heavy work pieces.
  • Have the ability to self-inspect parts.

CNC Vertical Borer Setter/Operator/Programmer:

  • Have some CNC Setter/Operator/Programmer experience using Fanuc control systems (also uses Cimco CADCam for programming)
  • Be able to work to customer issued drawings and specifications to produce medium to heavy workpieces.
  • Have the ability to self-inspect the parts.
