We are looking for a TOOLMAKER FOR A PERMANENT DOUBLE DAYS POSITION

Are you an experienced Toolmaker, who likes to be kept busy?  This is a friendly, supportive working environment, with plenty of progression prospects available.  There is also support for further training and development.

37.5 working hour week, with Paid Overtime available. Always an early finish on Fridays to give you a good work / life balance

DUTIES of TOOLMAKER:

  • Corrective, breakdown, and preventative maintenance on the Tooling
  • Respond swiftly to breakdowns
  • Die repairs
  • Repairs on welded jigs and fixtures
  • Tooling modifications and refurbishments
  • Ensure repairs are carried out to agreed timescales

REQUIREMENTS OF TOOLMAKER

  • Ideally, you will be Apprentice trained
  • To have worked in a busy Toolroom
  • Ideally, transfer and progression tooling knowledge
  • Both preventative and repair to existing tooling
  • Happy to work Double Days – Mon - Friday

Due to a long-serving employee who will be retiring, they wish to recruit a CNC Miller & Turner to work in their machine shop making precision parts.

The ideal candidate would have manual and CNC machining experience.

CNC Miller / Turner Benefits and Hours

  • Salary £35,000 - £42,000, negotiable dependant on experience
  • 37 hours per week; Monday to Thursday 7:30am – 4:30pm, Fridays 7:30am – 12:30pm

CNC Miller / Turner Candidate Requirements

  • The ideal candidate would have manual and CNC machining experience.
  • A minimum of five years’ experience working in a precision machining environment.
  • Good working knowledge of manufacturing techniques and engineering drawings.
  • Ability to produce complex components to drawing tolerance and specifications, efficiently and accurately.
  • Adherence to quality standards.
  • Possessing an enthusiastic can-do attitude with an eye for detail.

Key Responsibilities

  • Making one-offs and small batches of complex precision machined components from various aerospace grade materials.
  • Accurately inspecting and measuring components using various inspection equipment including, but not limited to, Micrometers, Verniers and Plug Gauges.
  • Setting and Operating Manual/CNC Mills and Lathes using Fanuc controls.
  • Writing CNC programs using AlphaCam and/or CAD/CAM post processors

Press Brake Setter Operator Responsibilities:

  • Set and Operator Press Brake Machines
  • CNC Press Brakes
  • Conduct regular Quality checks
  • Maintaining a clean and tidy work area
  • Following internal processes
  • Working from Engineering drawings
  • Use of measuring equipment

Press Brake Setter Operator Requirements:

  • Experience with Setting and Operating CNC Press Brake machines
  • To have the ability to read engineering drawings 
  • Previous knowledge of Trumpf machines would be highly beneficial, though not essential
  • Good manual dexterity
  • Experience of use of measuring equipment
  • A good practical awareness of lean manufacturing and understanding 5S activities

Group Leader Responsibilities:

  • Make sure everyone on the team follows safety rules and takes care of the environment.
  • Make sure all quality controls, plans are adhered to.
  • Maintain Production Schedule and components made are delivered on time to customers.
  • Teach the team and make sure they do their jobs the right way.
  • Keep the workplace clean and organized as agreed.
  • Allocate and adjust labour.
  • Deal with problems with how people work and get help if needed.
  • Check and make sure we spend the right amount of time talking to others to plan our work.
  • Conduct first day on the job assessments.
  • Ensure all TPM activities are completed
  • Plan changeovers to minimise process downtime.
  • Raise requests to Maintenance for breakdowns.
  • Use the ERP system (SAP) to check and monitor stocks and customer demand.
  • Regular check and update machine planning boards to ensure reliable supply based on current conditions.
  • Conduct regular checking of machine outputs and take actions/get support where required.
  • Support and lead continuous improvement activities (quality improvement, changeover reduction, etc). 

Group Leader requirements:

  • You must have previous experience of managing in a fast-paced manufacturing environment
  • A good understanding of 5S / 7 Wastes
  • Strong man-management skills
  • Knowledge of SMED and TPM
  • Conversant with Microsoft Office Tools
  • To be able to start quickly
  • Happy to work a Double Day shift
