We’re seeking a skilled Mechanical Maintenance Engineer to join one of the UK’s most respected textiles and manufacturing businesses. The Mechanical Maintenance Engineer position is commutable from the following locations: Blackburn / Bolton / Oldham / Burnley

Shift in place:

The Maintenance Engineer will be required to work a Continental shift – 4on-4off – 2days – 2nights. 12-hour shift – working 7am till 7pm with 277 hours holiday.

Requirements:

  • Carrying out planned preventative maintenance (PPM) on factory machines.
  • Overhaul, upkeep, and repair of all plant machines
  • Responding to breakdowns
  • Overhaul of gearboxes, pumps and motors, Temp Controllers, Granulator’s, Shredders.
  • Repairs to pneumatics and hydraulics
  • Previous experience as a Mechanical Maintenance Engineer/ Fitter in a manufacturing or production environment
  • We are looking for a proactive individual who can work well within a team but also to their own initiative.
  • Ideally the right individual with be Apprentice trained.
  • Holding a NVQ Level 3 or City & Guilds in Mechanical engineering

Planning Coordinator Pay, Hours and Benefits

DUTIES

  • Lead PMPs from concept through to commissioning, ensuring all necessary hazard assessments and HAZOP studies are completed.
  • Define the scope and depth of hazard assessments, perform engineering calculations, develop testing programmes, and revise designs based on findings.
  • Initiate and chair HAZOPs, maintaining comprehensive and up-to-date risk assessment records.
  • Collaborate closely with Project Engineering to develop plant layouts, costings, and proposals for project authorisation.
  • Provide expert chemical engineering input to Process Improvement Groups, project teams, and the Research Department for both new and existing process routes.
  • Advise engineers, customers, contractors, and consultants on design, safety, construction materials, and processing techniques.
  • Act as Project Leader on designated projects, with responsibility for design, budget, performance, and delivery to agreed targets.
  • Organise design and commissioning work and resource planning to meet Production budget requirements.

REQUIREMENTS

  • Degree in Chemical Engineering (essential).
  • You must be able to demonstrate Significant industrial experience in a relevant field, such as Chemical manufacturing
  • Development and optimisation of chemical processes.
  • Hands-on plant commissioning and troubleshooting experience.
  • Experience with DSEAR methodology and implementation.
  • Knowledge of SIL and LOPA risk assessments.
  • Relief system design and DIERS methodology expertise.

Duties of a Maintenance Engineer   

As a proven Maintenance Engineer, you will be required to undertake both planned and reactive maintenance across our plant, which will require you to have experience of supporting plant and equipment within either a heavy engineering, manufacturing, process or production environment.

Requirements of a Maintenance Engineer   

Ideally you will be apprentice trained but must be qualified Mechanically to a City & Guilds or NVQ standard and ideally have an electrical appreciation. 

However you must have gained your Maintenance experience from supporting plant and equipment within a heavy engineering, manufacturing, process or production environment.

Piling Design & Estimating Engineer Role Overview / Candidate Requirements

  • The Piling Design & Estimating Engineer will hold a relevant engineering degree and MSc or bias towards Geology/Geotechnics preferred.
  • This role is pivotal - it provides much diversity, providing support to the design & estimating elements of the piling, foundations and ground improvement techniques, ensuring compliance with the company management system and business strategy.
  • The successful candidate will have significant design experience and be competent designing bearing piles, tension piles laterally loaded piles and retaining walls. Design includes both tender and contract design and site redesign as required. 
  • Having a degree in Civil Engineering, Engineering Geology or another relevant subject will be the minimum required, with an MSc and Chartered Engineer status being preferable.
  • The individual will assist in the management of incoming piling enquiries, including assessment of opportunities and allocation of tenders/designs and includes estimating, tendering and client interaction / negotiation to the point where orders are secured, and provide ongoing support throughout the life of a project if required.
  • The person in this role will also act as a mentor to the junior members of the team and help with their training and development. There will be some work providing support dealing with site issues as and when these arise. This includes contract redesigns, rectification of design issues and liaising with external approving authorities and Engineers if required.


Piling Design & Estimating Engineer Key Responsibilities (but not limited to)

  • The Piling Design & Estimating Engineer will assess suitability of incoming enquiries for tendering.
  • Ensure that all estimates are prepared in line with Work Instruction Documents.
  • Review the contract documents and determine the most appropriate technical and commercial piling solution.
  • Undertake estimating activities, ensuring that estimates are delivered in such a manner that maximises the potential to obtain the order.
  • Submit tenders by required tender dates and input / update Salesforce - Chase up submitted tenders.
  • Prepare and submit formal design packages for live projects.
  • Maintain design responsibility for piling changes that occur post order receipt.
