A fantastic opportunity for a maintenance engineer to join a global manufacturing company based near Stourport. My client is a multi-national UK firm supplying to stores across the UK and Europe.   

My client is looking for looking for a maintenance engineer to join their night shift, who will be responsible for the maintenance and repair of all production equipment, keeping down-time to a minimum.

Maintenance Engineer Duties include:

  • Monday – Friday (22:00 – 06:00) 
  • Ensure all machines are running at all times.
  • Diagnose and repair machine faults.

  • Carryout TPM and PPM work. 
  • Open communication with shift leaders. 
  • Reduce downtime and increase efficiency.

 
Maintenance Engineer Requirements include: 

  • Recognised electrical qualifications. 
  • PLC fault finding (Advantageous).  
  • Hydraulics and Pneumatics experience. 
  • Ability to read circuit diagrams.
  • Experience with conveyors. 
  • Single and Three phase power supplies.

DUTIES

  • Maintain and support the IATF 16949 Quality Management System.
  • Coordinate the annual product testing schedule in collaboration with external laboratories.
  • Manage internal non-conformance and supplier reject systems, ensuring effective documentation and resolution.
  • Support new engineering projects through the APQP process, with a focus on plant-level involvement.
  • Drive internal PPM (Parts Per Million) improvement initiatives and lead problem-solving activities.
  • Assist cross-functional teams in resolving quality issues using 8D methodology.
  • Oversee calibration schedules for all internal equipment, including internal checks and coordination with external calibration providers.
  • Collaborate with manufacturing teams to coordinate and implement product and process improvement initiatives.
  • Monitor internal scrap levels and lead improvement activities with production teams.
  • Manage and maintain supplier Certificates of Conformity and associated documentation.
  • Maintain and update customer quality portals, providing regular reports on audit and project status to management.
  • Create, review, and revise quality documentation, including PFMEAs, Control Plans, and other related documents.
  • Conduct audits covering quality systems, processes, LPA (Layered Process Audits), and basic quality practices.

REQUIREMENTS

  • It is essential that you have Quality Engineer experience
  • Must have gained experience from within manufacturing
  • A good standard of IT literacy is important – exposure to SAP would be advantageous
  • Proven problem-solving skills 8D and 5 Why analysis
  • Knowledge of lean manufacturing techniques
  • Strong understanding  of ISO9001 and TS16949 would be ideal though not essential

DUTIES

  • Upholding high standards of cleanliness and housekeeping across all plant, yard, and compound areas.
  • Assisting with stock takes of all raw materials including bulk storage and drums, as directed by the Production Supervisor.
  • Safely offloading delivery tankers and loading collection tankers as required.
  • Monitoring and replenishing gaff bag stock to ensure adequate supply levels are maintained.
  • Ensuring spill kits and grit boxes are stocked and in good working order throughout the site.
  • Checking the heating plan and pre-heating materials in preparation for production runs.
  • Labelling and managing stock of IBCs (Intermediate Bulk Containers) in the compound.
  • Participating in the solvent recovery programme and correctly labelling recovered materials.
  • Supporting batch filtration processes and following formulation batch sheet specifications accurately.
  • Reporting any deviations from standard procedures promptly and in writing to the Production Supervisor.

REQUIREMENTS

  • Previous supervisory experience

Requirements of a Maintenance Technician

You must be multi skilled in your abilities. Having gained your Maintenance experience from supporting plant and equipment within a fast paced manufacturing, process or production environment. 

Ideally you will be apprentice trained but must be qualified Electrically and have some understanding of Plc Controls.
