Responsibilities of Project Engineer

  • Manage all project phases, including design, procurement, planning and installation
  • Create designs to problem solve including creating equipment specifications
  • Monitor Project requirements, timings and cost
  • Identify risks
  • Deliver projects on time and in budget
  • Participate in continuous improvement activities
  • Contribute to the verification and signing off of designs

Requirements for Project Engineer

  • Significant Project management experience
  • Proficient in mechanical design and maintenance of equipment such as agitators and pumps
  • Good knowledge of the chemical industry
  • Strong written and presentation skills

Role Overview

The Project Manager will have experience of managing multiple complex steel structures / structural steelwork projects to completion. You will lead projects through every stage of the project life cycle, from planning to delivery. If you thrive in a dynamic, fast-paced environment and have the ability to maintain focus under pressure, you may be exactly what the business is looking for.

As a Project Manager, you’ll be a key member of the team, responsible for establishing and maintaining a strong rapport with clients, contractors, and other stakeholders. The ideal candidate will have excellent communication and time management skills, along with strong attention to detail.

This is a role that will be 90% office based. A pool vehicle will be supplied for any customer meetings or surveys.

Salary and Hours

  • Salary £40,000 - £50,000 dependant on experience
  • 8:00am - 4.30pm, Monday to Friday

Candidate Requirements

  • The Project Manager will have proven experience within steel structures / structural steelwork
  • A project management degree or similar would be ideal, but is not essential
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Demonstrable expertise in project management through all phases of a project life cycle
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft operating systems and programs including Access, Excel, PowerPoint, Word, and Outlook
  • Expertise with project management software (e.g. Microsoft Project, Primavera)
  • Advanced negotiation and conflict resolution skills
  • Highly organized with excellent attention to detail, with strong management, leadership, and interpersonal skills

Key Responsibilities

  • The Project Manager will be involved in project planning sessions to set project goals and objectives, determine timelines, define tasks, and outline resources necessary to successfully complete the project
  • Select and manage a team from among internal and external sub-contractors 
  • Monitor the progress of projects, including addressing issues that may arise and ensuring project deliverables are completed on time
  • Use an appropriate tracking tool to coordinate different elements of the project
  • Follow standard processes as defined by the Association for Project Management (APM) or Project 
  • Management Institute (PMI)
  • Organize regular status and review meetings as necessary, including generating and distributing meeting minutes
  • Gather resources, identify potential constraints based on activities and timeframes, and define solutions to manage any constraints
  • Design a risk management plan to minimize foreseeable disruptions to the project

Requirements for a Project Engineer

  • To have experience of working in a volume manufacturing environment
  • NPI knowledge
  • Ideally Apprentice trained.
  • HNC or equivalent experience
  • Experience of continuous improvements, KAIZEN, SMED, TPM, VA/VE
  • This would suit a more Junior Project Engineer, who is looking to gain more knowledge and experience.
  • Or, an experienced Project Engineer, who is looking for a stable, consistent environment.
  • TO have the ability to read and understand technical drawings.
  • Happy dealing with people at all levels

  • Must hold experience with CNC Control systems, ideally FANUC / Siemens / YASNAC 
  • Experienced with both Hydraulics & Pneumatics 
  • Understanding of technical manuals and Engineering Drawings 
  • Able to Utilise and update CMM’s. 
  • Previous experience within Machine shop Environment 
  • Apprentice trained holding a City & Guilds /ONC/HNC/HND in mechanical engineering. 

This position will also require you to work within confined spaces, on occasions the position can be demanding so we are looking for a Driven individual who is able to work Quickly and under pressure and can meet deadline.

  5. Ideally you will hold experience within a Heavy Engineering Plant – Manufacturing Plant. 
  6. Keeping accurate records of activities and stores requisitions
  7. Completing planned maintenance activities and installations
  8. Supporting business projects when required
  9. Attending meetings when require
  10. Must be Apprentice trained. 
  11. Ideally holding a BTEC – ONC / HNC / NVQ Leve 3 in mechanical or electrical engineering

Shift in place for the Maintenance Electrician: 12Hr shift – Days and Nights – Rotating system. 3Days on 7off 4Nights on 3days off. 

The successful Maintenance Electrician will be responsible for the following: 

  • Provide technical support to all departments ensuring safe and efficient maintenance.
  • Maximise plant Up time and minimise plant Down time.
  • Communicate at all levels of Engineering and Production Departments the status of plants and ongoing projects.
  • Investigate, report, and resolve repetitive engineering faults.
  • Maintain the computerised maintenance system shift logs, follow up actions, fault, and diagnosis.
  • Carry out risk assessments, issue permits to work and supervise engineering contractors.
  • Design, build and commission control system upgrades and plant improvement projects.
  • Carry out inspection and testing of electrical installations and portable appliances.
  • Organise and supervise planned work for the craftsmen with assistance from the computerised maintenance system and engineering planner.
  • Organise and control weekend work on a rota basis.
  • The ideal candidate will be Apprentice trained, holding a HNC / City & Guilds in Electrical / Electronic engineering.
  • Holding strong fault-finding abilities with Siemens PLC’s 
  • Flexibility is key to this role – Must be happy to work a rotating 12hr shift pattern.
