Toolmaker Hours, Pay and Benefits

  • Salary £40,000 (including shift allowance)
  • Working hours. There are two options: 10:00am – 6:00pm Monday to Friday or 2:00pm -10:00pm Monday to Friday
  • 25 days holiday, plus statutory
  • Sick pay based on length of service, up to 24 weeks

Toolmaker Role Purpose 

The Toolmaker will repair and service the moulding machine tools, and related equipment, in a timely and efficient manner.

Commutable From: Leicester, Corby, Peterborough, and Grantham. 

Candidate Requirements

  • Time served toolmaker – for insurance purposes, Apprenticeship / Qualifications have to be from the UK
  • Proven Injection Mould / Plastics experience. 
  • Electrical experience is an advantage but not a necessity.
  • Experienced in the operation of toolmaking equipment, eg grinders, lathes, machining.
  • CNC Machining centre experience an advantage.
  • A base understanding on pneumatics and hydraulics.
  • Ability to understand technical drawings.
  • Computer literate.

Toolmaker Key Responsibilities

  • Build, repair and maintain tooling
  • Work to fine tolerances
  • Prove tooling and troubleshoot until running acceptably - target to enable the tools to run "right first-time" in a production environment
  • Able to understand technical drawings
  • Liaise with operational staff to understand tooling related issues
  • Maintenance of machinery on site
  • General tool making tasks
  • To be flexible in a “breakdown” scenario

The current Engineering Manager is staying within the site just moving roles. We are looking for someone to effectively manage the Maintenance, Development, and Site service teams to ensure plant / equipment availability, reliability and performance. You will assist with the further development of the team of over twenty engineering colleagues, engaged in the maintenance of machines, automation and ancillary equipment.

The key areas for the Engineering Manager focus:

  • Carry out routine servicing and inspection on all production machinery. 
  • Carry out essential testing of equipment and systems. 
  • Ideally holding experience with ATEX equipment. 
  • Ideally, we are looking for a 70/30 split as there will be some mechanical requirements. 
  • We are looking for an Apprentice trained maintenance electrician. 
  • Holding a Formal qualification in Electrical engineering – City & Guilds Level 3 or NVQ Level 3 
  • 17th / 18th IEE Wiring regulations. 
  • City & Guilds 2391 Testing 
  • UK Driving licence required / Travel to alternative sites required – all site located in within 5Miles of one another. 
  • Must be happy to work the required call out system. Working 1in5 calls – this is split between engineers.

  • Previous experience within a Textiles / Manufacturing environment. 
  • We are looking for an Apprentice trained engineer. 
  • Holding a ONC / City & Guilds Level 3 in electrical engineering 
  • Also holding their 18th IEE Wiring regulations. 
  • Flexibility is key as there will also be a call out Rota in place – rotating Weekly.

Key Responsibilities the Maintenance Engineer:   

To work as part of the Maintenance team as a mechanically focused technician with some multi-skilled experience. The position will be responsible for providing mechanical expertise, carrying out repairs on plant equipment in a timely and efficient manner and ensuring equipment is safe and fit for purpose. The position holder will be responsible for safety permits where required and to provide first line supervision for all contactor activity. 

  • To provide mechanical support to the maintenance department in order to carry out repairs on all plant equipment. 
  • Ensure all machinery and equipment on site is both mechanically and electrically safe. 
  • Carry out other support maintenance work when required. 
  • Carrying out repairs on the following Kit: Pumps / Conveyor systems / Gearboxes / Hydraulics & Pneumatics.
  • Ideally holding experience within Chemical or Heavy engineering. 
  • We are looking for an Apprentice trained Maintenance engineer. 
  • Holding a formal qualification in Mechanical engineering. 
  • Flexibility is key – a Motivated individual who is keen to take on over time.

Duties of an Electrical Maintenance Supervisor – Plant Projects:

Working days, as an Electrical Maintenance Supervisor you will be required to manage a small team, whilst also ensuring planned maintenance is undertaken to schedule, allied to being responsible for reactive maintenance issues. 

A key part of your role is undertaking plant related project work, where you will have full lifecycle responsibility from initial concept through to final commissioning. 

Requirements of an Electrical Maintenance Supervisor – Plant Projects:

You must have gained your experience within a heavy engineering, manufacturing or process oriented environment, be apprentice trained and qualified ideally to an HND standard Electrically.
