Group Leader Responsibilities:

  • Make sure everyone on the team follows safety rules and takes care of the environment.
  • Make sure all quality controls, plans are adhered to.
  • Maintain Production Schedule and components made are delivered on time to customers.
  • Teach the team and make sure they do their jobs the right way.
  • Keep the workplace clean and organized as agreed.
  • Allocate and adjust labour.
  • Deal with problems with how people work and get help if needed.
  • Check and make sure we spend the right amount of time talking to others to plan our work.
  • Conduct first day on the job assessments.
  • Ensure all TPM activities are completed
  • Plan changeovers to minimise process downtime.
  • Raise requests to Maintenance for breakdowns.
  • Use the ERP system (SAP) to check and monitor stocks and customer demand.
  • Regular check and update machine planning boards to ensure reliable supply based on current conditions.
  • Conduct regular checking of machine outputs and take actions/get support where required.
  • Support and lead continuous improvement activities (quality improvement, changeover reduction, etc). 

Group Leader requirements:

  • You must have previous experience of managing in a fast-paced manufacturing environment
  • A good understanding of 5S / 7 Wastes
  • Strong man-management skills
  • Knowledge of SMED and TPM
  • Conversant with Microsoft Office Tools
  • To be able to start quickly
  • Happy to work a Double Day shift

Metrology Engineer Responsibilities

  • Performing precise measurements and aligning intricate components according to customer specifications
  • Ensuring adherence to high-quality standards 
  • Interpreting customer drawings and defining measurement report formats.
  • Programming automated CMM (Coordinate Measuring Machine) programs.
  • Understanding of SPC and R&R
  • Collaborating with the Project team to fulfil measurement requirements for PPAP (Production Part Approval Process) approval.
  • Conducting dimensional investigations to support engineering teams. 
  • Implementing 5S principles 
  • Carry our Hardness tests (Vickers hardness testers)
  • An understanding of GD7T

Metrology Engineer Requirements

  • To have the ability to program CMM machines.
  • Ideally Axel or PC-DIMIS, or Metrolog or Camio
  • Proven experience of using GD&T
  • To have the ability to read engineering drawings.
  • Experience of using Vickers hardness tester

Role Overview

An Estimator with steel experience, is required to join a continually growing, reputable structural company. 

This person must be familiar with and fully comply with the requirements of the company’s Health, Safety, Environmental and Quality management systems. You will be required to perform all the necessary functions required to fulfil the duties of an Estimator including but not limited to the below:

Essential Skills of the Estimator

  • Proven estimating experience within steelwork / metalwork / fabrication.
  • Technical knowledge of structural designs and materials for relevant industries
  • Good level of numeracy and grammar
  • Detailed knowledge of all relevant Health, Safety, Environmental and Quality requirements
  • Time management skills enabling multiple tender enquiry management
  • Commercial awareness of the goals of the company
  • Ability to seek out additional project work
  • Excellent phone manner both internal and external
  • Computer literacy including Microsoft Office particularly Excel
  • Competent user of Exchequer system 
  • Good communication skills with the ability to communicate at all levels
  • Disciplined approach to administration of documentation

Key Responsibilities

  • Review technical drawings and initial scope of works for all enquiries.
  • Ensure all relevant industry standards and procedures are available for enquiries.
  • Develop a bill of quantity for all steelwork and associated products within a given tender.
  • Forecast fabrication, metal finish and installation requirements of projects.
  • Ensure any formal programs for the project received from customers are filed with tenders, to allow successful project management.
  • Consider all Health & Safety, Environmental and Quality management systems requirements for tenders.
  • Produce final tender documents including full cost base and scope of works.
  • Update the Enquiry Management Access database with all relevant information.
  • Make projects live on Exchequer when orders are confirmed.
  • Store tender related documents on the T: drive within the customer related directories.
  • Liaising with clients to confirm works and attending sites to complete surveys when necessary.
  • Agreeing specifications of work with clients and making adequate notes to enable the manufacture and installation of projects.
  • Periodically contacting customers to chase up tender acceptance.
