METROLOGY ENGINEER

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Creating CMM programs
  • Evaluate measurement data
  • Creating measurement programs for CMM with or without CAD model
  • Drawing up initial sample test reports as per the VDA and PPAP template
  • Implementing all measurement equipment 
  • Calibration of gauges
  • Re-qualification inspections

REQUIREMENTS

  • It is essential that you have relevant CMM Programming experience
  • Ideally PC-DMIS
  • To have gained your experience from within a manufacturing environment
  • Good working knowledge of PPAP’s and SPC
  • Good level of IT Literacy

Role Function

The Supply Chain Co-ordinator supports the Procurement Manager and wider procurement team in ensuring the effective and ethical flow of goods and materials across the supply chain. This role focuses on providing administrative and operational support, maintaining accurate records, liaising with suppliers, and helping ensure compliance with ethical sourcing and sustainability standards.

Salary, Hours and Benefits

  • Salary £29,000 - £32,000 dependant on experience 
  • Hours 6:00am – 6:00pm, 4 days on, 4 days off (meaning you only work for half of the year. On this shift, you get 183 days off per year, 50 days more than a regular 9:00am – 5:00pm)
  • Paid overtime
  • 4x salary – Death in service

Supply Chain Co-ordinator Candidate Requirements

  • Prior experience in a procurement, supply chain, or warehouse environment preferred not essential.
  • The Supply Chain Co-ordinator must strong administrative and organisational skills.
  • High attention to detail and ability to work to deadlines.
  • A right first-time approach – be prepared to check and double check your work for accuracy. 
  • Good written and verbal communication.
  • Basic understanding of procurement or supply chain operations.
  • The Supply Chain Co-ordinator will be comfortable working with data and using spreadsheets
  • Team player with a proactive, can-do attitude.
  • Familiarity with ethical sourcing principles and compliance processes is desirable.
  • Basic Excel experience – training can be given.

  • Provide quarterly supplier forecasts aligned with customer demand, managing supply deviations effectively.
  • Develop tailored procurement contracts 
  • Monitor and manage supplier performance, addressing any deviation in delivery time, cost, or quality.
  • Ensure supplier systems are aligned with lean production requirements.
  • Achieve and exceed cost-saving targets through price negotiation and strategic sourcing.
  • Regularly review specifications and pricing 
  • Scan the market for alternative supply sources, new materials, and more efficient procurement solutions.
  • Lead supplier value analysis and cost-reduction initiatives.

REQUIREMENTS for BUYER

  • Buying experience ideally from a manufacturing / engineering background
  • Ideally hold CIPS though not essential
  • Experience with SAP or similar would be advantageous but not essential
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to influence at all levels.
  • Proven track record of managing procurement projects and delivering measurable cost savings.
  • Strong commercial acumen and proactive approach to market trends and changes.

Role Function 

The Calibration Metrologist will calibrate various measuring instruments and gauges, under UKAS regulations, following set procedures and standards on behalf of internal and external customers. 

Calibration Metrologist Candidate Requirements

  • The Calibration Metrologist will have proven Dimensional Metrology experience.
  • Experience of First Principal Measurement. 
  • Inspection techniques in order to relate to customer applications and the subject is essential. 
  • Able to work independently representing the company at their own sites and at customer premises.  
  • Good communication, organisational and I.T. skills. 
  • Willingness to learn; be very well organised, presentable, flexible and self-motivated.

Calibration Metrologist Responsibilities

  • Strict adherence to all internal procedures and a conscientious work ethic.
  • Ensure the department and the organisation’s reputation is not compromised.
  • Carry out approved calibrations as laid out within the laboratory’s operating procedures.
  • Maintain impartiality throughout each calibration.
  • Ensure calibration results are accurate and fully maintained.
  • Ensure capital equipment remains in excellent working order.
  • Maintain understanding of UKAS accreditation and its implications.
  • Respond to customer calibration queries as they arise.
  • Maintain accurate administrative and reporting records.
  • Maintain open lines of communication with immediate supervisor.

RESPONSIBILITIES for QUALITY ENGINEER

  • Work closely with manufacturing and engineering teams to identify and eliminate sources of variation and improve processes.
  • Contribute to maintaining ISO 9001 compliance, including participation in internal and external audit activities.
  • Assist with the introduction of new tooling and manufacturing processes, including SPC and capability studies, during NPI projects.
  • Conduct supplier development activities, including communicating quality requirements and offering technical support.
  • Perform on-site supplier and customer visits as required to resolve quality issues and build relationships.
  • Lead or support the resolution of customer concerns, ensuring effective implementation of corrective actions.
  • Analyse problems using structured problem-solving techniques such as 8D and Six Sigma methodologies.
  • Drive reduction in customer complaints, internal process variation, and external PPM.

  • Support and develop departmental KPIs aligned with business-level objectives.
  • Contribute to improving poka-yoke systems and error-proofing initiatives.

REQUIREMENTS for QUALITY ENGINEER

  • Proven experience in a Quality Engineering role within a manufacturing environment.
  • Strong working knowledge of ISO 9001 (ISO 14001 desirable).
  • Demonstrated experience in root cause analysis, corrective action systems, and continuous improvement tools.
  • Experience with 8D problem-solving methodology and Six Sigma tools.
  • Understanding of Statistical Process Control (SPC) and capability studies.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and specifications.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to engage with suppliers, customers, and cross-functional teams.
  • Full UK driving license required for supplier/customer site visits
