Role Function 

The Continuous Improvement Engineer will play a key part in improving and maintaining the company manufacturing processes, making them safer, more efficient, and consistent. Whether it’s rolling out new systems, supporting product launches, or driving continuous improvement, you’ll be the go-to person for process excellence.

Candidate Requirements

  • Proven experience in a Continuous Improvement Engineer role or similar
  • Experience within a pressing, sheet metal or fabrication environment would be advantageous
  • Engineering degree or equivalent experience
  • Can-do attitude, flexibility and adaptability
  • Solid understanding of Lean tools and ISO 9001 quality standards
  • Confident using CAD and reading technical drawings
  • IT proficiency
  • Strong planning, problem solving and communication skills
  • Self-motivated, organised, driven and capable of managing multiple projects

Responsibilities

  • The Continuous Improvement Engineer will maintain and improve safe, efficient production processes
  • Spot and reduce workplace risks, supporting a culture of H&S
  • Lead and support improvement projects to minimise waste, boost output and improve delivery performance

Toolmaker Hours, Pay and Benefits

  • Salary £40,000 (including shift allowance)
  • Working hours. There are two options: 10:00am – 6:00pm Monday to Friday or 2:00pm -10:00pm Monday to Friday
  • 25 days holiday, plus statutory
  • Sick pay based on length of service, up to 24 weeks

Toolmaker Role Purpose 

The Toolmaker will repair and service the moulding machine tools, and related equipment, in a timely and efficient manner.

Commutable From: Leicester, Corby, Peterborough, and Grantham. 

Candidate Requirements

  • Time served toolmaker – for insurance purposes, Apprenticeship / Qualifications have to be from the UK
  • Proven Injection Mould / Plastics experience. 
  • Electrical experience is an advantage but not a necessity.
  • Experienced in the operation of toolmaking equipment, eg grinders, lathes, machining.
  • CNC Machining centre experience an advantage.
  • A base understanding on pneumatics and hydraulics.
  • Ability to understand technical drawings.
  • Computer literate.

Toolmaker Key Responsibilities

  • Build, repair and maintain tooling
  • Work to fine tolerances
  • Prove tooling and troubleshoot until running acceptably - target to enable the tools to run "right first-time" in a production environment
  • Able to understand technical drawings
  • Liaise with operational staff to understand tooling related issues
  • Maintenance of machinery on site
  • General tool making tasks
  • To be flexible in a “breakdown” scenario

This Maintenance Electrician position is commutable from the following locations: Warrington / Skelmersdale / Bolton / Wigan 

The Maintenance Electrician will be required to work the following Shift: Continental – 4on-4off systems – 2days-2nights. 12 hours Shift.

The Maintenance Engineer will be responsible and hold the following experience:  

  • Maintain and install all mechanical plant & machinery in line with company requirements.
  • React quickly, diagnose & repair any mechanical related problems on the plant or equipment.
  • Carry out our planned preventative maintenance schedule on the full range of equipment within the site .
  • Ensure that all plant and machinery is kept in a good, safe working & clean condition.
  • Complete all relevant paperwork associated with the task being performed in a timely and accurate manner.
  • Carry out daily inspections as requested related to safety, air, steam and water leaks and complete repairs as necessary.
  • Report any problems regarding equipment and machinery immediately to the Engineering Team Leader.
  • Ensure that you are aware of the Company Health, Safety and Environmental policies and procedures and that you always adhere to them.
  • Complete Maintenance work orders, use of a CMMS system, Agility or similar
  • Experience with pneumatic & hydraulic equipment & systems
  • Knowledge of high-pressure steam boilers and systems
  • Welding skills such as MMA, TIG, MIG
  • General workshop skills, tools, lathe, milling etc.

Probe Technical are looking to recruit a full time and permanent Maintenance Electrician to join an experienced and dedicated Engineering team near Wellingborough on a Monday – Friday day shift with a 37.5-hour week. The ideal candidate will provide both mechanical and electrical service to the Production Department in terms of maintaining machines and site services to achieve minimal downtime as well as reduced engineering costs. 

The package details for the role of Maintenance Electrician include the below and further at interview:

  • Salary from £40,000+
  • 37.5 hours per week, Monday – Friday 
  • 3% / 5% pension on Auto enrolment 
  • 24 days holiday + Bank Holidays 
  • Premium overtime rates 

Along with a HNC in electrical or electronic engineering and training in 17th / 18th Edition IEE wiring regulations, or equivalent. You must be a multi-skilled engineer with Electrical bias with either print/packaging / FMCG / food experience. Experience of PLC’s (programming and fault-finding), process controls and AC / DC and Servo drives.

Other key duties for the Maintenance Electrician role involve:  

  • Undertake work of any kind as directed by the Engineering Supervisor
  • Work on both mechanical and electrical plant and carry out installation work.
  • Carry out planned preventive maintenance to reduce future unplanned downtime.
  • Respond to unplanned breakdowns, ensuring downtime is minimised.
  • Undertake facilities maintenance where necessary.
  • Supervise sub-contractors where necessary.

Mobile Vehicle Technician Candidate Requirements

  • The successful candidate will be an experienced Automotive Mechanic or Engineer who has extensive experience of Vehicle Mechanics, Electrics and Body Structure, who has undertaken a structured training scheme or recognised Apprenticeship.
  • Be flexible and be used to working to high standards.
  • Hold a recognised qualification in Motor Vehicle Mechanics or a related subject.
  • Sufficient engineering experience to carry out light fabrication work, ideally including MIG welding.
  • Good understanding of auto electrical wiring systems, ideally holding an IMI level 3 Electric/Hybrid vehicle training certificate (ideal but not essential).
  • A desire to contribute to the ongoing success of the branch.
  • Strong ability to provide excellent customer service.
  • Hold a full clean driving license.
