Role Overview

We are seeking a Mechanical Engineer with a background in Bulk Materials Handling / Machine Design to contribute to the design, development, and optimization of the company engineering solutions. This role requires strong technical expertise, problem-solving abilities, and collaboration with global teams. International travel will be required for site visits, client engagement, and project support.

Role Location: Located offshore in the British Isles.

Mechanical Engineer Pay and Benefits

  • Salary £55,000 - £85,000
  • Working Hours: 8:30am - 5:00pm with flexibility (100% office-based role)

Mechanical Engineer Candidate Requirements

  • Proven experience in product design within the Mining Industry / Bulk Materials Handling or similar. 
  • Proficiency in CAD software (SolidWorks, AutoCAD) and engineering analysis tools (FEA, DEM, CFD, etc.).
  • Strong understanding of mechanical principles, materials, and manufacturing processes.
  • Knowledge of hydraulics, pneumatics, or automation systems.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to read, interpret, and create technical drawings and specifications.
  • Effective communication and collaboration skills, with experience working in multidisciplinary teams.
  • Degree or Diploma in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
  • Willingness and ability to travel internationally for project and client interactions.

Mechanical Engineer Responsibilities

  • Design and develop mechanical components and systems for engineering projects.
  • Conduct engineering calculations, simulations (FEA, DEM), and performance analyses.
  • Work closely with design, manufacturing, and project teams to ensure seamless execution.
  • Provide technical support for ongoing projects and client requirements.
  • Oversee the testing, validation, and commissioning of mechanical systems.
  • Ensure designs comply with industry standards, safety regulations, and company policies.
  • Collaborate with international teams, suppliers, and clients to optimize engineering solutions.

You will have the chance to join a team of Field Based Service Engineers covering UK Nationwide, all locations will be considered for the role. You will be covering a wide range of both mechanical and electrical aspects of machine tools.

We are seeking to recruit a Service Engineer (Mobile Plant Engineer) for one of the largest privately owned Engineering businesses in Europe. This is an exciting opportunity for a Service Engineer to join their manufacturing team based at any of the facilities in the UK. 

You will be responsible for ensuring plant availability and engineering resource is available when required to assist the operational function at any location. You will provide technical advice, assistance and intervention to ensure the safe and efficient operation of all plant assets as well as carrying out machine malfunction rectification work.

  • Able to demonstrate practical experience of machine tools, maintaining PLC controlled machinery (Siemens preferred), pneumatics and hydraulics systems, material handling conveyor systems, electrical installation work and planned preventative maintenance systems.
  • Maintain all plant assets and conduct a regular PPM service and carry out machine malfunction correction work to ensure plant and equipment is available to meet the operational demands placed upon it in a safe and efficient manner.
  • Oversee and participate in all large installations and machine removals/re-positioning where required

The role of Service Engineer is commutable from anywhere in the UK as it is a mobile role.

The Maintenance Engineer will be responsible and hold the following experience:  

  • Maintain and install all mechanical plant & machinery in line with company requirements.
  • React quickly, diagnose & repair any mechanical related problems on the plant or equipment.
  • Carry out our planned preventative maintenance schedule on the full range of equipment within the site .
  • Ensure that all plant and machinery is kept in a good, safe working & clean condition.
  • Complete all relevant paperwork associated with the task being performed in a timely and accurate manner.
  • Carry out daily inspections as requested related to safety, air, steam and water leaks and complete repairs as necessary.
  • Report any problems regarding equipment and machinery immediately to the Engineering Team Leader.
  • Ensure that you are aware of the Company Health, Safety and Environmental policies and procedures and that you always adhere to them.
  • Complete Maintenance work orders, use of a CMMS system, Agility or similar
  • Experience with pneumatic & hydraulic equipment & systems
  • Knowledge of high-pressure steam boilers and systems
  • Welding skills such as MMA, TIG, MIG
  • General workshop skills, tools, lathe, milling etc.
  • Able to read schematic drawings
  • Some multi skilling would be advantageous
  • Ideally you will be Apprentice trained holding a HNC / City & guilds Level 3 in Mechanical engineering.
