MAINTENANCE ENGINEER

Job Description

I am looking to recruit a Maintenance Engineer on an early and lates shift. This is an outstanding opportunity to join the UK subsidiary of a large multi-national company. This is a great role for someone who is hands-on, technical, and operational. As part of a top manufacturing group, you will be required to maintain plant and machinery to a high standard through PPM and proactively schedule maintenance works to maximise service levels.

The package details for the role of Maintenance Engineer include:

  • A salary banding that’s negotiable up to £45,000 depending on experience.
  • Company Pension with a salary sacrifice Scheme
  • Holidays starting at 23 and increasing to 28 with service. 

As a Maintenance Engineer this will be a high-pressured environment so the ability to be able to work well under pressure is a pre-requisite of the position, in addition the ideal candidate will be: 

  • PC Literate, good knowledge of Excel / Word / PowerPoint
  • General Maintenance Apprenticeship
  • Welding skills (Arc / Mig)
  • Have knowledge to read engineering drawings.
  • 17th Edition is desirable.
  • Experience of Mitsubishi & Alan Bradley PLC’s

The Maintenance Engineer role is commutable from Derby, Nottingham, and Leicester.

Candidate Requirements

  • 5 years + experience working as a Health and Safety Manager.
  • The role requires someone with a strong character, a person who isn’t afraid of a very fast paced business.  
  • NEBOSH diploma in Health and Safety or equivalent.
  • Cert. IOSH or above desirable, with commitment to regular CPD.
  • Proven track record and hands on experience in a Health and Safety role.
  • Previous experience in food manufacturing, FMCG or similar industries is desirable.
  • Knowledge of Food Safety and Hygiene procedures.
  • Organised and motivated to move the department forward.
  • The Health and Safety Manager will have excellent communication skills and the ability to work within all levels of the organisation.
  • Good working knowledge of current health and safety legislation and the requirements this imposes on a business.

Key Responsibilities

  • The Health and Safety Manager will champion Health and Safety throughout the Business.
  • Undertake health and safety risk assessments on general business activities, the use of machinery and hazardous substance.
  • Create and review safe systems of work and procedures for health and safety.
  • Coordinate accident and near miss investigation processes.
  • Review, update and maintain the sites Health and Safety policy in line with legislation.
  • Coordinate the supply and issuing of PPE.
  • Create and lead worker Health and Safety forums.
  • Site Health and Safety audits and act on the outcome of these audits.
  • Carry out reviews and give Health and Safety guidance on any project undertaken by the business.
  • Work towards an ISO Health and Safety accreditation.
  • Maintain appropriate records and documentation.
  • Deliver health and safety training and briefings to staff.
  • Co-ordinate the occupational health programme.
 

Role Overview

Do you have a background in designing bespoke machinery and leading projects from start to finish? 

Are you a Senior Design Engineer or Design Manager with good industry experience in bespoke machinery design?

We are looking to recruit an experienced individual for a bespoke equipment manufacturer based in Staffordshire. 

The company have a long history of providing bespoke solutions to customers all over the globe and are often requested to create one off machines for specific tasks. 

After another great growth year for the company in the way of orders and project requests, and this upturn is now requiring a new Design Manager to join the company and assist in the demand for new projects to be designed.

Salary and Benefits

  • £45,000 - £55,000
  • 33 days holiday, including bank holidays.
  • Healthcare 
  • 37 Hours per week, 8:45am – 5:00pm, 4pm finish on Friday’s, with some flexibility.

Candidate Requirements 

  • Qualified to HND / Degree level in an engineering discipline, ideally Mechanical or Product Design. 
  • You must have a sound knowledge of mechanical engineering principles and product design processes. 
  • It is essential that you have several years' experience designing using 3D CAD in Mechanical Machinery Design. 
  • Experience of working in a manufacturing environment. 
  • A Design Manager or Engineer with experience of managing a small team.
  • Candidates should have a strong Design background in Fabrications, Machine Parts and Hydraulics.

Key Responsibilities

  • As the Design Manager you will be responsible for updating existing machines and working on new and existing product ranges, with a strong partnership to shop floor and other engineering personnel. 
  • You will take ownership of Design Projects from start to finish. 
  • Management of all design activities from concept through to production validation.
  • The robust design of products in accordance with the department procedures. 
  • Investigating design factors such as function, materials, performance, interchangeability, cost, operational efficiency. 
  • Preparation of Project Engineering data for new product assemblies and components, e.g. 3D / 2D Drawings, BOM's, Technical Specifications. 
  • Customer technical liaison on new projects, ensuring that the designs meet the customer's requirements and often exceed their expectations and remain competitive to achieve sales growth and increase market share.
