TOOLMAKER / JIG AND FIXTURE MAKER

We are seeking a TOOLMAKER / JIG AND FIXTURE MAKER, to strengthen the Toolroom.

We are a long-established manufacturing organisation, supplying into a broad range of different industry sectors, such as agriculture, construction, defence, medical and education to name but a few.

As our Toolmaker / Jig and Fixture Maker, you will be joining a friendly team, repairing and manufacturing tools, dies and fixtures.

DUTIES

  • Manufacture, and repair tools, dies, and fixtures
  • Working from engineering drawings and specifications
  • Operate lathes, milling and grinding machines
  • Work with the engineering team to optimise tool designs, to make the parts faster

REQUIREMENTS

  • Proven experience of producing Jigs and Fixtures
  • Must have gained this experience from a manufacturing environment
  • To have the ability to read engineering drawings
  • To have an understanding of machining processes
  • Happy to work a Days role

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Create new product designs from concept through to production
  • Conduct design changes to existing products
  • Attend NPI meetings
  • Working with a wide range of materials, such as plastic injection mould, castings and metals
  • This is a multi-dimensional role, with a range of projects on the go, at any one time
  • Working closely with customers and suppliers
  • Drive cost reduction projects 
  • BOM and Part creation, drawing revision and Issues control
  • Familiar with computer simulation and modelling programs
  • If experienced, review Design Engineers work

REQUIREMENTS

  • Relevant Qualifications to support experience- ideally, to Degree level
  • It is essential that you have exposure to 3D & “D CAD, such as Solidworks or CATIA
  • Ideally, you will have gained your experience from within a manufacturing environment
  • Good knowledge of geometric dimensioning and tolerancing
  • Knowledge of diecast, moulded, pressed or machined parts would be advantageous
  • This would suit a friendly, sociable character
  • To have the ability to work on a n umber of projects at any one time
  • Keen eye for detail
  • To have the ability build relationships
