Maintenance Electrician (Shift Work)

Salary: £31,792

Pension 6%, 33days holiday

Shift: Mornings, Afternoon, Nights 6-2/2-10/10-6

Location: Blackburn

 

Urgent requirements for a Shift Maintenance Electrician, ideally this individual will hold experience within Manufacturing / Textiles / Paper or Plastic environments. Flexibility is key as this individual will be working a 3 shift rota.

Full training will be provided, but key requirements for this role are below

Requirements of a Shift Maintenance Electrician:

  • Experience and knowledge of preventative maintenance.

Maintenance Electrician

Job Purpose for a Maintenance Electrician:

To maintain existing preventative maintenance activities and improve the effectiveness of our maintenance department.  Target ZERO breakdowns by end of 2018 as part of the Factory Maintenance Team.  Undertake all maintenance activities in line with the Maintenance plan and ensure processes are followed correctly.  Enhance the team ethic within the maintenance team through Continuous Improvement.

Knowledge Required of a Maintenance Electrician:

  • Undertaken a recognised time served apprenticeship and gained Qualification in Electrical / electronic engineering to Level 3, ONC, HNC, along with a good understanding of Mechanical elements.
  • Experience gained in a manufacturing Environment - Ideally CNC wood-based panel machinery, extraction systems wood chippers and boiler maintenance.
  • Experience of modern control systems, PLCs AC/DC Drives, 3 Phase motors servo systems able to read and interpret electrical drawings and Pneumatics.
  • Some experience of installation projects

Maintenance Electrician

This is an Exceptional opportunity for a Qualified Maintenance Electrician to join a Leading organization based in the Preston Area.

Duties of a Maintenance Electrician:

  • Performs scheduled PMs and visually inspect and test assigned machines and equipment for proper functionality against plan.
  • Daily, receives assigned work order to complete on equipment.
  • Upon completion of work, enters appropriate information onto CMMS system for filing and tracking against KPI's Helps controls unplanned downtime by informing/training production workers of routine preventive maintenance techniques; monitoring compliance.
  • Fabricates repair parts by using machine shop instrumentation and equipment as required.
  • Maintains equipment according to instructions such as replacing belts on motors, changing filters, bearings, etc.
  • Maintains parts, and supplies inventories by checking stock to determine inventory level; anticipating needed equipment, parts, and supplies; placing and expediting orders; verifying receipt.
  • Perform reactive repairs on production machines and/or equipment when a malfunction has been detected in a timely manner to minimize any associated downtime.
  • Annalise cause of any unplanned downtime and recommend any improvements/process changes to reduce recurrence.
  • Perform machine installations/moves and building maintenance tasks as needed.
  • Assist production workers in diagnosing malfunctions in machinery and equipment.
  • Ensures that a high level of safety is adhered to at all times on and off the production floor.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

Essential for a Maintenance Electrician:

  • Previous tenure of a minimum of 3 years in a maintenance similar technician role with both mechanical and electrical experience.
  • Must exhibit outstanding ability to learn and comprehend the fundamentals of the functioning of all machines used within the business.

  • Capable of working a night shift and overtime when necessary.

  • To carry out electrical and mechanical isolations for employee’s safety and follow current regulations and guidelines applicable to the position.
  • Work with departments to plan and prioritise work.
  • Manage the CMM system
  • Implement continuous improvement plans and projects.
  • Ensure good housekeeping.
  • Generate reports as and when required for the Operations Manager.
  • Assist in ensuring the plant is a safe and healthy place to work by carrying out the actions of the HSE Committee and workplace inspections as directed by the Operations Manager.

We are seeking to recruit a Maintenance Planner to work alongside our Maintenance & Engineering Manager in supporting or extensive maintenance operation.  The role will initially be a three-month contract, with a view to permanent employment.

Key Responsibilities of a Maintenance Planner:

In return, the salary for the Automation Engineer position is up to £35,000 depending on skills and experience + a performance related monthly bonus, 31 days holiday per year, Healthcare plan and life assurance, and a heavily subsidized staff canteen. Hours of work are 08.00 – 4.30pm Mon - Thurs + half day on Fri AM.
