SITE INSTALLATION & COMMISIONING ENGINEER

Job Description

Probe Technical are looking to recruit a full time and permanent Site Installation & Commissioning Engineer to join a recognised world leader in their Manufacturing facility. We are looking for a dynamic person who has a good mechanical engineering background to work in a friendly environment as part of a small team, excellent working conditions and stable permanent employment. 

Must be very flexible with regular overseas travel. Normally a week at a time, odd occasion up to 4 – 5 weeks at a time, but that is less frequent. You will predominantly be based at the facility near Lichfield 70% of the time. 

The package details for the role of Site Installation & Commissioning Engineer include:

  • Salary £40,000+ depending on experience and to be discussed at interview.  
  • 8 Hour days Monday – Friday 8am – 4pm.

  • Potential for overtime with rates discussed at interview

  • Expenses will be paid for overnight stays 

You must be Mechanically trained with a background in Fitting and Assembly. Some duties will involve:

  • Fitting, Assembly, and Testing on Shop Floor
  • Stripping down machinery ready for delivery 
  • Site Installation of machinery attending overseas customers  

The role of Site Installation & Commissioning is commutable from Lichfield, Tamworth, Burton on Trent and Cannock surrounding areas.

RESPONSIBILITIES for OCCUPATIONAL NURSE

  • Conduct a wide range of occupational health assessments, including:
  • Spirometry
  • Audiometry
  • Dermatitis screening
  • Eyesight checks
  • Driver’s medicals
  • Drug and alcohol testing
  • Employment medicals
  • Blood pressure monitoring

Provide comprehensive health reports, particularly for long-term sickness or return-to-work cases, with clear workplace adjustment recommendations

Deliver first-line treatment and support for workplace injuries and illnesses

Maintain and manage the health surveillance programme across all UK sites

Keep accurate records of assessments and make actionable recommendations

Ensure equipment is maintained and calibrated, and manage necessary stock levels

Participate in health and wellbeing campaigns and corporate audits

Compile data and generate reports as required, ensuring confidentiality of health information

Travel across sites and work flexibly, including covering night shifts when needed

REQUIREMENTS for OCCUPATIONAL NURSE

  • A qualified and registered Nurse with a BSc or MSc in Occupational Health Practice
  • Experience in occupational health, ideally within a manufacturing environment
  • Proficient in conducting all standard occupational health checks
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills with a flexible, collaborative approach
  • Full, clean UK driving licence and willingness to travel across Sertec sites
  • Ability to work varied shifts, including occasional nights

RESPONSIBILITIES for CNC TURNER

  • Program, set, and operate CNC turning machines (Mazatrol, Siemens, G-code)
  • Read and interpret engineering drawings accurately
  • Competent with all aspects of setting tools and understanding cutting speeds, feeds, boring, drilling and threading
  • Machine components to tight tolerances
  • Perform tooling setups with a strong understanding of speeds and feeds
  • Use precision measuring equipment (verniers, micrometers, bore gauges, etc.)

REQUIREMENTS for CNC TURNER

  • Significant experience in CNC Setting, Operating programming
  • Sound knowledge of machining principles and best practices
  • Proficient in the use of inspection and measurement equipment
  • Experience of measuring / inspection equipment, including verniers, bore gauges and micrometers
  • CAD/CAM knowledge is an advantage
  • Positive, proactive mindset with a commitment to continuous improvement
  • Ability to manage workload and prioritise effectively

Role Overview

An experienced Project Manager with proven structural steel / steel structures / structural engineering experience, is required to join a continually growing, reputable structural company who work on a multitude of projects, including: structural buildings & cladding, rail, construction, rail, MOD, utilities and nuclear.

The Project Manager will manage multiple complex projects to completion, leading projects through every stage of the project life cycle, from planning to delivery. If you thrive in a dynamic, fast-paced environment and have the ability to maintain focus under pressure, you may be exactly what we’re looking for.

As a Project Manager, you’ll be a key member of the team, responsible for establishing and maintaining a strong rapport
with clients, contractors, and other stakeholders. The ideal candidate will have excellent communication and time

Salary £35,000 - £42,000 dependant on experience
Office based - Monday to Friday

Project Manager Candidate Requirements

  • Academic qualification in Project Management would be ideal, but isn’t essential
  • Proven experience across either structural steel, steel structures or structural engineering
  • Demonstrated expertise in project management through all phases of a project life cycle
  • Advanced negotiation and conflict resolution skills
  • Ability to work effectively under pressure and time constraints in a fast-paced, rapidly evolving environment
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Advanced knowledge of project management best practices and methodologies and commitment to improving internal practices


Project Manager Key Responsibilities (but not limited to)

  • Involved in project planning sessions to set project goals and objectives, determine timelines, define tasks, and outline resources necessary to successfully complete the project
  • Select and manage a team from among internal and external sub-contractors
  • Monitor the progress of projects, including addressing issues that may arise and ensuring project deliverables are completed on time
  • Use an appropriate tracking tool to coordinate different elements of the project
  • Follow standard processes as defined by the Association for Project Management (APM) or Project Management Institute (PMI)
  • Manage relevant budgets ensure compliance with processes such as RFP generation and PO generation
