MAINTENANCE ENGINEER

Job Description

We are a well-established and highly regarded business that specialises and manufactures a wide range of products for various applications in several industries, such as automotive with plans towards future growth.

This is a superb opportunity for a Maintenance Engineer to join a small Maintenance team. This is hands-on role, working both independently and within the site Maintenance Team. Engineering maintenance and servicing of site equipment work will involve air handling equipment, compressors, large ovens, ventilation systems, motors, burners, hydraulic presses and cutting systems.

Key Duties

As a Maintenance Engineer, your key responsibilities will include: 

  • Suggest and promote process improvements to better the running of machinery and Processes
  • Engineering maintenance for the building
  • Supporting all on-going / New projects 
  • Commit to ensuring production lines are active through overtime if needed.

Requirements of a Maintenance Engineer 

To excel in this role, you must meet the following criteria: 

  • Previous experience in a fast-paced hands-on production environment preferred
  • Welding and fabrication experience required
  • Identify electrical faults. Read and work from circuit diagrams
  • Experience with 3-phase electrical systems

Candidate Requirements

  • 5 years + experience working as a Health and Safety Manager.
  • The role requires someone with a strong character, a person who isn’t afraid of a very fast paced business.  
  • NEBOSH diploma in Health and Safety or equivalent.
  • Cert. IOSH or above desirable, with commitment to regular CPD.
  • Proven track record and hands on experience in a Health and Safety role.
  • Previous experience in food manufacturing, FMCG or similar industries is desirable.
  • Knowledge of Food Safety and Hygiene procedures.
  • Organised and motivated to move the department forward.
  • The Health and Safety Manager will have excellent communication skills and the ability to work within all levels of the organisation.
  • Good working knowledge of current health and safety legislation and the requirements this imposes on a business.

Key Responsibilities

  • The Health and Safety Manager will champion Health and Safety throughout the Business.
  • Undertake health and safety risk assessments on general business activities, the use of machinery and hazardous substance.
  • Create and review safe systems of work and procedures for health and safety.
  • Coordinate accident and near miss investigation processes.
  • Review, update and maintain the sites Health and Safety policy in line with legislation.
  • Coordinate the supply and issuing of PPE.
  • Create and lead worker Health and Safety forums.
  • Site Health and Safety audits and act on the outcome of these audits.
  • Carry out reviews and give Health and Safety guidance on any project undertaken by the business.
  • Work towards an ISO Health and Safety accreditation.
  • Maintain appropriate records and documentation.
  • Deliver health and safety training and briefings to staff.
  • Co-ordinate the occupational health programme.
