Agency Workers Regulations - AWR

From the 1st October 2011, agency workers will be entitled to new rights under the Agency Workers Regulations (AWR). The implementation of the Regulation will impact upon every business that utilizes temporary workers within the UK.

The purpose of the Regulation is to ensure that agency workers benefit from the same basic working and employment conditions as if they had been directly employed by the end user.

The regulations give agency workers the same basic employment conditions after 12 weeks working for the company in the "same role" as those that would have been applied if they were recruited directly by the hirer.

From day one of the temporary assignment the worker is entitled to the same access to job vacancies as permanent members of staff and collective facilities such as staff canteens, childcare facilities and transport services.
