Role Overview

The Process Engineer will be a subject matter expert on key processes and systems and will improve these through the rigorous application of continuous improvement techniques ensuring the involvement of the team.

Process Engineer Salary: £45,000 - £48,000

Hours: 38 per week, Monday to Thursday, 7:15 – 4pm, 12:15pm finish on Friday’s

Essential Candidate Requirements:

  • 4+ years of proven experience
  • Lean Manufacturing
  • Six Sigma and experience from a machining environment. 

Candidate Requirements:

  • Minimum HND Qualified with 4+ years of significant experience.
  • Proven track record and philosophical alignment with Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma principles.
  • Knowledge of Precision CNC manufacturing processes – essential. 
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, and technical specifications.
  • Strong project planning and management skills.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Commitment to championing health & safety standards and practices.

Process Engineer Key Responsibilities (but not limited to)

  • Develop and drive a culture of continuous improvement ensuring the engagement and involvement of the entire production department.  
  • Lead improvement activities across all production areas through Measurement, Analysis, Improvement and Control. 
  • Assist in the training of staff ensuring that they develop the skills to become subject matter experts in various systems and processes; enabling them to implement and sustain the improvements. 
  • Lead and support root cause analysis when production issues arise. Implement corrective and preventative actions and ensure that these are appropriately documented and approved in accordance with local procedures. 
  • Provide engineering support to include design reviews, production metrics, manufacturing quotations and scrap review
  • Improve Plant effectiveness and utilisation in line with production demands, with a key focus on the removal of production bottlenecks.
  • Develop, maintain and improve production procedures to execute all activities in a safe, efficient and compliant way.
  • Maintain and improve the performance and quality of products ensuring they conform to established standards, specifications and customer requirement.

Role Overview

Reporting to the Operations Director and working alongside local Colleges and the Senior Leadership team. The Apprentice Training Manager will organise, manage and coordinate the company Apprentice Training Programme in association with the local college, along with the development of all staff in any training requirements.  

The role will also involve supporting the Operations Director in Health & Safety Management as required.

Apprentice Training Manager Salary and Hours

  • £38,000 - £40,000
  • 38 hours per week, Monday - Thursday 8:00am - 4:45pm, 1:00pm finish on Friday's

Apprentice Training Manager Candidate Requirements

  • Proven experience of Apprentice Training Management / Training Coordination.
  • Degree qualified ideally, or relevant experience gained.
  • Previous experience in a manufacturing / engineering environment.
  • Proven track record of management specific to a training environment.
  • Experience and past history of successfully managing Apprentices and the associated training programme.

Apprentice Training Manager Key Responsibilities

  • Meet all core values of the business.
  • To have a full understanding of the Production and Company KPI’s.
  • Represent the company well to all internal & external parties.
  • Daily management of all Apprentices.
  • Manage the recruitment process including the adverts & interviews.
  • Daily training of 1st year apprentices (training school).
  • Influence and control apprentice funding/Levy.
  • Manage & support learning unlimited Derby with college delivery.
  • Complete internal apprentice reviews every 6-8 weeks.
  • To have good, I.T skills.
  • To cascade batch card release and sawing off requirements to the steel stores department.
 

Role Overview

An Estimator with steel experience, is required to join a continually growing, reputable structural company. 

This person must be familiar with and fully comply with the requirements of the company’s Health, Safety, Environmental and Quality management systems. You will be required to perform all the necessary functions required to fulfil the duties of an Estimator including but not limited to the below:

  • Salary £35,000 - £40,000 dependant on experience

Essential Skills of the Estimator

  • Proven estimating experience within steelwork / metalwork / fabrication.
  • Technical knowledge of structural designs and materials for relevant industries
  • Good level of numeracy and grammar
  • Detailed knowledge of all relevant Health, Safety, Environmental and Quality requirements
  • Time management skills enabling multiple tender enquiry management
  • Commercial awareness of the goals of the company
  • Ability to seek out additional project work
  • Excellent phone manner both internal and external
  • Computer literacy including Microsoft Office particularly Excel
  • Competent user of Exchequer system 
  • Good communication skills with the ability to communicate at all levels
  • Disciplined approach to administration of documentation

Key Responsibilities

  • Review technical drawings and initial scope of works for all enquiries.
  • Ensure all relevant industry standards and procedures are available for enquiries.
  • Develop a bill of quantity for all steelwork and associated products within a given tender.
  • Forecast fabrication, metal finish and installation requirements of projects.
  • Ensure any formal programs for the project received from customers are filed with tenders, to allow successful project management.
  • Consider all Health & Safety, Environmental and Quality management systems requirements for tenders.
  • Produce final tender documents including full cost base and scope of works.
  • Update the Enquiry Management Access database with all relevant information.
  • Make projects live on Exchequer when orders are confirmed.
  • Store tender related documents on the T: drive within the customer related directories.
  • Liaising with clients to confirm works and attending sites to complete surveys when necessary.
  • Agreeing specifications of work with clients and making adequate notes to enable the manufacture and installation of projects.
  • Periodically contacting customers to chase up tender acceptance.

As a CNC Turner Setter Operator you must have previous experience within a similar role and will be fully competent and able to work on their own with minimal supervision.

CNC Turner Setter Operator, Key Roles, Responsibilities & Experiences include: 

  • Set and operate CNC lathe machinery.
  • Programming capabilities, desirable. 
  • Star Sliding Head Lathes, Haas, Fanuc Controls.
  • Read, understand, and interpret engineered drawings.
  • Adjust / replace tooling and associated machine offsets as required.
  • Machine monitoring and maintenance.
  • Performing quality checks.
  • Engineering shop floor inspection equipment.
