TOOLMAKER

A role as a TOOLMAKER has become available with a leading well-known brand. This is a great opportunity to be part of a large, friendly well established organisation.

Working Days only with Friday classed as Overtime, this is a great opportunity for an experienced Toolmaker to enjoy a very pleasant working environment and be able to achieve a great work / life balance.

DUTIES OF TOOLMAKER

  • Repair, maintain and modify tooling
  • Creation of jogs and fixtures
  • Using machines and process involving turning, drilling, machining, fitting, and grinding
  • Identification of areas for improvement
  • Transfer and progression tooling
  • Working from engineering drawings

REQUIREMENTS OF TOOLMAKER

  • A Time served Toolmaker or Machinist
  • You will have gained your experience from a manufacturing environment
  • It would be beneficial for you to have EDM wiring experience though not essential
  • On and offline programming would be advantageous but not essential
  • To have the ability to work off your own initiative
  • Happy to workdays, with Friday as and when, as Overtime

PRODUCTION PLANNER

This is the opportunity for an experienced Production Planner to join a UK leading business, who are long-standing, well respected and continuing to lead the way in their industry.

From their Midlands HQ, they support clients across a multitude of industries, including Engineering, Rail, Construction, Energy and Material Handling.

Production Planner Salary, Hours & Benefits:

  • £32,000 - £34,000
  • Monday – Thursday, 7:45am to 4:45pm, 2:15pm finish on Fridays

Production Planner Candidate Specification

  • Experience of production planning processes, ideally gained in a steel fabrication setting or working within a manufacturing environment.
  • The ability to accurately update and maintain management information systems, ideally experience of using StruMIS preferred (but is not essential).
  • Confident in using Excel spreadsheets with the ability to learn and use new IT systems.
  • Strong time management skills and the ability to prioritise and schedule workloads.
  • Read and understand Engineer’s Technical drawings.
  • The Production Planner will have an understanding of supply chains and associated lead times.

Key Responsibilities

  • The Production Planner will control the workflow through the shopfloor, by co-ordinating the material to support production.  
  • Responsible for managing all material planning through client’s system, issuing, and releasing jobs for both machining prep and manufacturing.  
  • Lead initiatives to create and effectively utilise planning strategies to drive the production scheduling requirements.  
  • Other responsibilities will include coordinating weekly production schedule meeting with Divisional Heads, Project Managers and purchasing to discuss production requirements and prep capacity.  
  • Prepare, maintain, monitor and measuring production and prep capacity against KPIs to ensure timely feedback on any issues to make sure production output goals and customer deadlines are met.

PRODUCTION MANAGER

Central Teams Material Planner Duties:

  • Ensure continuous raw material supply to all UK facilities
  • Maintain the MRP parameters to ensure stock held and ordered is within agreed parameters
  • Weekly supplier schedule releases
  • Report on daily supplier arrears
  • Analysis of top 10 materials by value to identify potential cost-saving activities
  • Management of supplier delivery slots and transport needs
  • Vendor management including raising of Non-Conformity Reports

Central Teams Material Planner Requirements:

  • You will be able to demonstrate relevant Material Planning experience from within a fast-paced manufacturing environment
  • Extensive SAP experience will be required
  • Excellent knowledge of MS Office packages, specifically Excel

WORKS SUPERVISOR

Works Supervisor Role Overview

Reporting to the Production Manager, the Workshop Supervisor will oversee approximately 50 staff, on a double day shift, consisting of Team Leader, Operators, Laborers and Apprentices.

Salary: £40,000 per annum
Shifts: Double Days

Candidate Requirements

  • The Works Supervisor will have proven experience of supervising or managing in an engineering / manufacturing environment.
  • Machining exposure, particularly grinding would be highly advantageous.
  • Willing and able to work double days shifts.
  • A good communicator, who is able to mentor and get the best out people. 

Works Supervisor Key Responsibilities (but not limited to)

  • Maximise ‘lights out’ machining to increase Productivity and record this in TEAMS.
  • Ensure prior to the end of shift, all applicable machines are set up to run lights out, ensuring the Production Priority database is updated with the latest plans and actions which can be shared by all colleagues.
  • Explore ways of increasing Productivity with further possible unmanned or multi manning and conduct trials to reduce stock allowance for grinding which will reduce machining times. Conduct machining trials using tooling representatives and experts in the field. 
  • Monitor and review operator production efficiencies against targets and carry out any actions where targets are not met with the assistance of the Production team.   • Use ANDON boards to assist in the monitoring of Productivity and educate operators in the importance of booking accuracy.
  • Expect multi manning wherever possible. Always question areas that are not and consider options of how to improve this.
  • The Works Supervisor will implement LEAN techniques including 6S throughout the works. Aim for continuous improvement in order to save time and money.
  • Ensure all completed work is moved onto the next operation by operators and not left in racks for others to move.
  • Regularly review and update the skills' matrix plan to Identify areas of weakness within work cells and operators to ensure we have a fully skilled and flexible workforce.
  • Attend daily factory tour and include team leaders for their input.
  • Update machine capabilities to assist in planning the production requirements.
  • Communicate plans and instructions to colleagues during shift change handover and supply daily email for reference and for others to continue with the required actions.
  • Use initiative to make decisions, challenge set plans and try out new ideas.
