Technical Director

Electronic / Embedded Software

A busy and fast growing manufacturer of Electronic Products is seeking to recruit a new Technical Director to ensure the continuation of New Product Development and the Introduction of their products to their ever increasing global customer base. The company already has over 30 Engineers in the specialist areas of Electronics, Embedded Software and Electromechanical Design and Development and as a team they are regularly working on between 15 - 20 projects at any one time.

The nature of the position is manage at the coal-face and ensure the team as a collective are working effectively and can deliver their projects on time and within cost. This will require the ability to understand the principles of the technology being developed and support or mentor new or junior team members to quickly become assets to the business.

The other equally important part of the role is to support the global network of suppliers and partners (Europe, Asia and USA) with the continued drive for innovation and better technology.

This position will be part of the company’s Board of Directors and will be responsible and rewarded for the continued growth of the business and its own product portfolio.

Requirements of a Technical Director:

  • Day to day team management of R&D and associated staff mainly UK, but also some international locations.
  • To drive new product development projects to full completion within the set timelines.
  • Create and maintain strategies to ensure the correct man-power and resource are available and used effectively when required.
  • Support the introduction of new products and deal with design changes and legislation requirements.
  • Ensure all projects adhere to company safety and compliance procedures.
  • Create the best way to introduce new staff to the team with training and product knowledge without causing too much disruption to the current live projects.
  • Create a strong personal development programme for all staff, so new technology, procedures and methods can be learnt for the benefit of all.
  • Develop best practice to ensure minimal quality and return issues on new products post NPD

Person Profile for a Technical Director:

  • The role requires excellent communication skills and the ability to motivate and bring individuals together to create a positive team environment.
  • Good experience in Electronics and Embedded Software and the delivery of new technology to market.
  • At least 5 years Senior Management / Director experience of leading teams in an Electronic Product, Goods or Device development environment.
  • A formal qualification in Engineering (Electronics / Electrical / Software or Mechanical) HND / Degree.
  • Good exposure of working with overseas suppliers and partners.
  • A proven background of delivering products from concept to manufacture.
  • Excellent commercial awareness.

Junior / Graduate Electronic Engineer


We are seeking recent qualified Electronic Design / Development Engineers to join a very fast paced Research & Development team in the Central Midlands area. The roles will be biased towards design, test, code writing, prototype build (Board level up), customer and supply chain liaison.

Skills Required:

The company is currently looking to recruit a Project Manager to assist the Operations Director in the creation of a strategy to delivery new products to be successfully integrated into series manufacture, whilst ensuring product quality, change management and a strong culture of continuous improvement is built into the process from the outset. This strategy will be driven from an NPD / NPI point of view and will allow the organisations new and existing range of innovative products to be build and produced in the fasted, cost effective and to the highest quality standards possible.

The products do have a strong Electro-Mechanical biased and a suitable applicant should have a recent background in introducing and developing products and devices with such technology incorporated.

The position will be an integral part of the project management process, with direct liaison with internal department heads, suppliers and the Board of Directors.

Product Engineer (Product Design, Engineering and Development).

Responsible for the Product Definition, Validation and Execution.


An Automotive supplier of a range of plastic biased trim products, are seeking a Product Engineer to support programmes in the areas of Product Engineering.

The role will require a CAD biased background in experience of getting concepts and prototypes through life cycles and approval stages, typical to Automotive Tier 1 stages.


Daily activities will include:

  • Work with build coordination and technology group (process) engineer to direct design verification build and prototype build and record all design problems.
  • Assign all design problems to proper engineering discipline for countermeasure.
  • Responsible for Design Verification and Product Validation of the project, through liaison with the test lab and quality departments.
  • Interfaces with the customer to ensure all engineering needs and requirements are being met.
  • Coordinate engineering changes through the customers and internal systems during the Development Phase.
  • Evaluate and approve design changes, specifications and drawing releases.
  • Work with the Project Manager and other engineers to establish priorities and assign tasks to complete the project according to the defined schedule.
  • Support launch at the customer assembly plants.

Primary duties will include:

Coordinate and follow product engineering responsibilities from design concept, through Prototype build, pilot, production, and life of the program.

Provide feasibility input to support Studio Design & Package Requirements and Champion, support and participate in Design and Engineering Reviews.

Create and maintain a Master Section Package for the Commodity.

Work with advance engineering, styling and the company’s technical centre on development of the Concept and feasibility of components and vehicle level integration.

Work with and direct the CAD team to ensure all engineering parameters and customer requirements are being fulfilled on a timely basis.

Update Product Definition whenever project definition changes.

Develop the DFMEA, DFM and other engineering disciplines if specified by the customer.

Organise and develop Design concepts, product architecture and set internal Engineering specifications.

Directs, coordinates, assigns tasks, and works with customer engineers to bring all Engineering disciplines together on the project.

Prepare preliminary detail drawings, with assistance of CAD design group

Prepare layouts/detail drawings for review and release, with assistance of CAD design group

Utilize and apply GD&T.

Develop DVP&R, obtaining customer approval, and initiating all laboratory and virtual tests.

Ensure that the product design complies with all product requirements and any international Legal standards when applicable.

Ensure that the product meets all engineering objectives and targets for weight, acoustics, water sealing, cost, service etc.

Skills and Requirements:

The right candidate will be:

  • Degree Qualified in and Engineering, Product or Industrial Design field.
  • Good exposure to engineering applications with at least 3 - 5 years in Automotive Engineering preferred
  • At least 3 years of Automotive Interior Engineering / Plastics experience.
  • Knowledge of Plastic injection moulding, post processes and assembly of complex components.
  • Experience working with UK OEM’s as a Tier 1 supplier in an engineering function.
  • Ability to effectively conduct group presentations,
  • Strong Microsoft Office skills.
  • Proficient in 3D CAD standard software with the ability to create, interrogate and communicate geometry requirements.
  • Capable of using pictographic tools (Sketching, Diagrams, presentations) to clearly communicate issues and requirements.

AutoCAD Technician

A busy North Midlands company who supply the retail, leisure and commercial sectors with ventilation and HVAC applications is seeking a AutoCAD Technician to produce detailed drawings and layouts for mechanical works.


The AutoCAD Technician will be responsible for:

  • Production of detailed drawings for air conditioning, ventilation and mechanical works. Possibly to assist with site surveys and heat load calculations for retail, leisure and commercial projects, value £3K-£500K throughout the UK.
  • Must be computer literate, self-motivated, personable, able to work independently and as part of a team and liaise effectively at all levels.
  • Prepared to react quickly and effectively in various situations.
  • Work as a key member of the Design team, taking a proactive roll

Skills & Experience of an AutoCAD Technician:

  • Previous experience within the air conditioning or construction industry would be a major advantage.
  • The successful individual should have excellent written and verbal skills, be fully IT conversant and hold qualifications for AutoCAD.
  • 2 years minimum experience preferred.
  • Candidates should be self-motivated, personable, confident and possess excellent customer focus.
  • Will be a team player and be prepared to occasionally contract projects if required during busy periods.
