Working alongside an established team, and reporting to the Design Manager, the Mechanical Engineer’s main tasks will be to provide solutions to mechanical issues.
This opportunity would suit an experienced Design Engineer, as well as a recent Graduate.
Creation of 3D models
R&D of existing products and assisting improvements/developments of newer products
Working closely with the projects team
Site visits, assisting design and installation
Creation of manufacturing, assembly and installation drawings
Communicating with colleagues to at all levels
BEng / MEng in Mechanical or Structural Engineering or related discipline (2:1 or better)
Be actively working towards professional Chartership with major engineering institution - desirable
2+ years’ experience in product design / manufacturing environment
A solid understanding of first principles engineering design
Experience in 3D CAD systems
A good appreciation of the importance of Design for Manufacture / Assembly
Understanding of structural calculations software (ideally)

The business is an SME, with 150 employees and 60 years of manufacturing heritage. They have a global supply chain and export over 30% of their product to a world-wide network of customers. The operation consists of a fabrication facility, assembly area, large yard, logistics area and finished goods stores with the majority of product designed and manufactured by the company at their UK site.
A vacancy exists within their Lighting Design team. They require a Lighting Engineer who will be involved in the preparation of the Company Lighting Schemes and giving technical support to the sales team.
Key Responsibilities and Experience Required:
The role will involve the designing of lighting projects primarily for exterior lighting applications. This may also include visiting sites to establish lighting requirements, discussing technical issues with the customers and the measurement of light levels which may involve occasional working at night.
The design of lighting schemes will require extensive use of CAD systems, lighting programs such as AGi32, and the preparation of technical reports.
It is desirable for the candidate to be fully trained in Lighting Design, preferably exterior lighting projects. Product specific training will be given within the company. The candidate will need to demonstrate good lighting, and lighting design knowledge backed up with a Lighting qualification from ILP or LET courses.
The candidate must also possess a high degree of accuracy, have the ability to work in a team whilst being able to focus on and work to deadlines.
£30,000 - £40,000 (negotiable dependent on experience)
