Introduction:

Sales Application Engineer - (Material Handling)

We are working with an organisation that provides a range of material handling solutions to the process industries and due to the need to offer a more bespoke Consultancy type of service, an Application Engineer is required to support their Midlands Sales Team Division.

The organisation has many years’ experience of providing bespoke solutions that are tailored to individual customers’ needs and they pride themselves on being recognised as a company that can offer consultation and support throughout the whole process from enquiry to final installation and commission.

The sales division are responsible for handling post enquiry support or expansion of existing customers needs, by the marketing and consultation of new technology and more efficient products that are continually being developed within the organisations engineering hub in Europe.

Duties:

  • The main purpose of the role will be to facilitate the best solution of the organisation’s product portfolio to a customer’s individual needs and provide a consultative solution and system design to meet the best possible installation and function requirement.
  • This will include creating and developing technical specifications, and quotations with the support of Project Engineering staff, support and provide training for customer’s engineers prior to any new installation with the Group Training Arm and maintain a strong communication link between all relevant parties.
  • The position will also be part of the Sales and Marketing team, so regular support of the creation of marketing literature, strategies and campaigns will play a major part of the role, along with attending and representing the organisation at international trade shows and seminars.

Requirements:

  • The right candidate for this role will have already held a similar position within a Material Handling environment and also have a proven background in supporting customers with the creation of bespoke solutions.
  • A formal engineering qualification is also essential, along with the ability to create and read P&ID, PFD’s and prepare technical specifications.
  • Excellent communication skills are also essential and the willingness to travel to various UK, Europe and International locations at short notice.
  • This position would best suit a Project or Application Engineer who has spent at least 3 years in a customer facing role.

Duties:

The Lab Technician will be flexible to working days and nights when required as well as:

  • Set parameters; line speed, peak metal temperature, following work instructions
  • Make adjustments to the line parameter settings based on test results
  • Conduct pre-treatment tests
  • Support and monitor the coating process
  • Ensure samples are run correctly and feedback any changes or corrective actions made
  • Record test results on a database

Skills & Experience:

The successful Lab Technician will have:

  • Degree / HNC or Equivalent
  • At least 3 years’ experience of inspection / QC within a chemical bias
  • Experience of continuous improvement / process procedures
  • Experience in a team environment
