These are exciting times!  A long-established multi-site manufacturing organisation have a requirement for an experienced Buyer to support the UK Purchasing Manager.

This is a lean, modern manufacturing facility, long established with a full order book, offering for the right person, a stable Buyer position, with potential for long-term growth.

Duties:

  • Coordinate the non-production activity in the plant
  • Effectively manage suppliers
  • Sourcing of services / components
  • Receiving quotations and provide analysis of quotations
  • Negotiation with suppliers
  • Raise purchase orders
  • Cost reductions
  • Supplier reduction
  • Represent the Purchasing department at meetings both internal and external

Requirements:

  • Ideally, you will be CIPS qualified, or working towards, but for the right person, support to achieve CIPS ca be provided
  • Purchasing experience within a manufacturing environment would be beneficial
  • SAP knowledge would be perfect, but again, not essential
  • Strong negotiating skills
  • Self-sufficient and motivated

  • Champion a continuous improvement environment
  • Analysis of logistics and production processes and indicators
  • Improve training, material flow and labour utilisation
  • Support lean evaluation / assessment to monitor the improvement progress within the plant
  • Implement training for e.g. Value Stream Mapping, 5S, elimination of waste and Standardised Work Procedures

 

REQUIREMENTS

 

  • Lean Engineering experience
  • To have gained experience from within a manufacturing environment
  • Proven experience of leading lean projects and drive to sustain improvements
  • Training experience including design and delivery
  • Participation in best practice and benchmark sharing
  • Experience of working with lean methodologies / tools
  • High level of IT Literacy
  • Drive and ambition
