Job Description

Due to an upturn in orders, a Contract position for a Logistics Analyst has arisen. This is a busy manufacturing organisation with rising order books.  Immediate start is available

DUTIES:

  • Manage all data and communication between plant and customer
  • Review customer call off and demand in line with forecast
  • Download customer schedules and provide analysis of customer schedules and highlight variances
  • Customer interface for MP & L issues and deliveries
  • Working closely with Production to understand product availability
  • Liaise with Material Planning regarding material requirements
  • Control customer packaging levels
  • Control of SAP master data and ensure stock optimisation

REQUIREMENTS:

  • You will have gained your relevant experience from within a high- volume manufacturing environment
  • Strong MRP operational skills, preferably SAP but not essential
  • Excellent IT skills, MS Office, Excel and PowerPoint

We are currently working with an organisation that designs and manufacture specialist bespoke machinery for customers in the Oli & Gas, Nuclear and the Chemical and Petrochemical industry sectors.

The organisation is currently seeking a Senior Controls Systems Engineer to create & develop, programme & configure and support the commission and build phases of PLC biased controls systems into bespoke machinery.

Projects can vary in size, cost and output, so experience is key with this role to deliver a successful part of the programme within time, budget and spec.

The Senior Control Systems Engineer role is focused on the creation of products in line with customer requirements and budget. This requires large amount of communication with the Engineering team, Customers, Sales, Procurement and Manufacturing. You will be required to provide updates to customers and host design reviews internally and externally, visiting sites where necessary. 

Working in line with the business Quality Management System (QMS) with a focus on continuous improvement of the company and products. The role will be expected to have a comprehensive understanding of PLC * HMI programming and be able to create programs for bespoke systems through modification of existing software and creation of new software. You will work independently, creating programs that satisfy the customers’ requirements.

Responsibilities:

  • Independent programming of Siemens PCL / HMI based systems.
  • Reading and understanding of P&IDs, specifications & control narratives.
  • Carry out regular design reviews with the team and customer.
  • Making modifications to HMI screens and operations in line with internal and external feedback.
  • Specification of requirements to allow third parties to design & build Control Panels.
  • Management of third parties designing electrical control panels.
  • Checking of third-party designs including but not limited to:
  • Control Panel electrical design / physical layout.
  • Electrical control component selection / specification.
  • Electric / Hydraulic / Pneumatic actuation specification.
  • Ensure designs conform to industry, customer and company standards.
  • Analyse designs using suitable tools.

Key Skills:

  • PLC & HMI programming (Siemens).
  • Understanding of relevant industry standards (eg, LVD)
  • Electrical design / component specification/ drafting, (AutoCAD preferred)
  • Familiarity with pressure related products.
  • Strong IT skills: Microsoft Project, Excel, Word, Outlook etc.

Experience & Qualifications:

  • Proven working experience as an Electrical / Controls Engineer programming PLCs
  • BEng or BSc (Hons) in Electrical Engineering or equivalent 
  • Experience working with bespoke systems / machine design and manufacture.
  • Control of electro-mechanical systems, hydraulics and pneumatics or associated supply.
  • Industry experience; (custom machine design, high pressure / hydraulic systems).

As the Engineering Manager, your duties will include:

  • To Manage and ensure the machinery are kept in good working order by scheduling timely maintenance –  regular and ad-hoc - via management of the various engineering resources.
  • Develop and Maintain TPM schedules to achieve the highest standard of engineering at all times.
  • Work with and educate Production teams and management, in order to reduce machine down time.
  • Work in partnership with the Production & Technical Managers to address any improvement opportunities.
  • Lead and performance manage your team of engineers, to include performance reviews and relevant training/development activities are undertaken. 
  • Control projects from start to finish including sourcing equipment controlling contractor enforcing CDM rules and updating health and safety files. 
  • Ensure all machines are maintained to the highest possible standards.
  • Responsibility for implementing communicating and maintaining a food safety culture as outlined within the FSSC22000. 
  • Ensure that staff are adequately trained and competent in all aspects of Food Safety Management

  • Previous Experience as an Engineering Manager

  • Ideally HNC in Electrical and Mechanical engineering or similar
  • People management qualification
  • IOSH qualification or similar
  • Ideally food hygiene level 3
  • NEBOSH is desirable.
  • Ideally Scissor lift and Boom trained.
  • Knowledge of  Word, Excel and Microsoft Outlook;
  • Planning and scheduling skills;
  • Strong Leadership with the ability to build strong working relationships;
  • Ability to organise and prioritise.
  • Knowledge of health & safety requirements i.e. contractor issues, H&S regulations

Role Overview

  • Client is looking to recruit an experienced Piling Design Engineer, to work within their estimating team, who is looking to progress their career, working within a homeworking role.   • The teams principal objective is to identify new business opportunities by preparing design solutions, estimates and tender proposals for the delivery of a variety of piling disciplines that meets the customer’s needs and in accordance with the Company’s Sales and Commercial Strategy.
  • The role is design and estimating. You will need to be proficient in working with relevant design software and have an understanding of the estimating process. You will be expected to work from a bill of quantities or a set of drawings and any other form of enquiry documents a client will issue and provide piling designs and price estimates for everything from a one-off scheme to ongoing projects which will be completed over several months.
  • You will be required to follow a project through with any design requirements as the project develops or progresses.
  • You will be expected to have combined site experience with quantity surveying skills, commercial acumen and a mind capable of financial analysis.
  • This is a customer focused role that requires you to have the ability to engage with clients to determine their needs and articulate those requirements in order to provide a solution-based proposal.

Design and Estimating Skills Required

  • Interpret architectural engineering plans, blueprints and specification drawings to determine the scope of works
  • Check the tender requirements against the Company’s governance procedure and accordance with the Company’s Sales and Commercial Strategy to determine the most appropriate engineering design solution for the installation of sheet steel, driven or bored piles, etc
  • Prepare designs for fully embedded retaining walls, cantilever and propped solutions, bearing piles either bored driven or VCC using information supplied by the client or suitable generic engineering values for the soil strata present on site 
  • In conjunction with the Contracts Manager, conduct site inspections for tender understanding, analysis of conditions, assessment of risk and identification of activities that may or may not be shown in the tender documents
  • Review contract conditions and incorporate the Company’s requirements within a written tender submission document
  • Liaise with client on an ongoing basis to determine progress of tender
  • Comply with stated Company policies and procedures relating to health and safety legislation

Essential Qualifications and Work Experience

  • BA Engineering / Civil Engineering – or equivalent in relevant experience
  • At least 5 years’ experience in heavy civil engineering

Working Hours

  • Minimum 40 hrs per week as dictated to meet the needs of the business.
  • The pressure and fixed nature of deadlines means some late nights may be needed. Overnight stays are rare, but you will need to travel to meet clients on site.
