One of the leading automotive manufactures in the UK are now looking to enhance their technology team with a lead position to manage the integration of innovative technologies for their bespoke vehicle division. 

The role will be responsible for providing the overall delivery of bespoke features and projects inline with the pre-agreed milestones, ensuring new technology and features can be effectively delivered within a multi-disciplined team, from concept through to development and to release and construction.

Technical Manager Responsibilities:

  • The position will be accountable for the delivery of bespoke new features. Dealing with the technical integration of Electrical, Electronic and Software applications to enhance a customer’s driving experience. 
  • The role will also be responsible for a small team of direct reports that consists of electrical certification and validation, digital and electronic development engineers. 
  • Liaison with other key important departments and stakeholders such as, Sales & Marketing, Design, Manufacturing and Purchasing will also be an integral part of the role. 
  • The day-to-day function of the role is to create and develop pathways to ensure critical aspects of multiple projects can be achieved and delivered within pre-agreed timescales. New Product Development and Introduction will form a major part of the position and a relevant background in a technical / electronic R&D remit is essential.

Technical Manger Requirements:

  • The right person for this position must have an enthusiastic approach to work and a strong understanding of new product development, with knowledge of industry process best practice.
  • Good liaison and communication skills with the ability to Join a leadership team within a dynamic engineering organisation that consists of many department managers and stakeholders.
  • A track record of effectively delivering integrated product solutions within pre-agreed timescales.
  • Ability to create a strategy and product plan for the coming years and provide a pathway forward.
  • Engineering degree or equivalent - Mechanical or Electrical / Electronic (Electrical component development experience)
  • Exposure to Software and IoT Applications
  • Extensive experience within product development (NPD)
  • Excellent People management, coaching and development skills
  • Experience of Automotive component development and testing processes (Essential)
  • A proven background in product development processes and gateway processes
  • Ability to manage multiple projects of differing timelines
  • Knowledge of automotive engineering / release systems

DUTIES OF PROJECT MANAGER

  • Overall responsibility for delivering Bespoke features to meet project milestones
  • Take new features from concept, through engineering construction, development, and release
  • Managing a small team consisting of Digital / Electrical Engineers and Mechanical Engineers
  • Leading the team with innovation, creativity, and continuous improvements
  • Linking a wider leadership team within engineering, purchasing and quality

REQUIREMENT OF THE PROJECT MANAGER

  • Engineering Degree or equivalent 
  • New Product Introduction experience
  • Extensive product development and validation experience, electrical knowledge essential
  • People management, with coaching and development skills
  • Experience of milestone product development processes / gateway processes
  • A passion for development
  • Connected Apps / cloud-based integration experience would be highly advantageous

The business has multiple sites, a 76 million turnover with aspirations of pushing on further. This senior Piling Design role is pivotal in the development of the South East Regional Office within the piling discipline. Substantial experience will be gained in CFA, CHD, Tubular Steel and Precast driven piles for a market leading specialist renowned for innovation and development.

  • Reporting to the Area Manager, you will cover all aspects of the regional piling work winning activities with a certain level of autonomy (depending on experience), in respect of pile design and technical sales including CFA, CHD, Tubular Steel and Precast Driven. Some overlap may occur with the Mini piling team in respect of technical support and sales, and liaison with other regions will be required in terms of sales intelligence, pricing levels and R and D.
  • This role offers much diversity in terms of work activities from design, through estimating, technical sales and then follow up, in a demanding yet extremely challenging environment working for a highly regarded specialist.
  • Piling Design will include bearing piles, tension piles laterally loaded piles and retaining walls. Design includes both tender and contract design and site redesign as required.
  • The individual will manage all incoming piling enquiries, including assessment of opportunities and allocation of tenders/designs and includes estimating, tendering and client interaction / negotiation to the point where orders are secured, and provide ongoing support throughout the life of a project if required.
  • There will be some work providing support dealing with site issues as and when these arise. This includes contract redesigns, rectification of design issues and liaising with external approving authorities and Engineers if required.
  • Reporting to the Area Manager the role should provide effective control of the Technical and Estimating element of the discipline ensuring compliance with the company management system and business strategy.

Piling Design Engieer Person Specification:

  • You will preferably be a Chartered Civil Engineer
  • Client is looking for proven Piling Design experience, CFA and retaining walls
  • You will be a solid, well experienced Piling Design Engineer. If required, the estimating side can be taught
  • Flexibility, attending the South East office a couple of times per month

This is an opportunity for an ambitious Design Engineer to join a growing and expanding business. The business is a supplier of quality systems for large engineering projects across a number of sectors. They work on systems within the power generation sector from hydroelectric power stations to critical plant within the nuclear industry. Full product training will be given to the Design Engineer for this role. They design and manufacture complete hydraulic systems using Solidworks including Power Units, actuators and accumulators through to installation, commissioning and servicing.

Design Engineer Specification

  • The Design Engineer will have 3D CAD proficiency in producing quality detailed engineering drawings (Solidworks preferable)
  • HNC or equivalent in engineering is preferred, but isn’t essential
  • Knowledge or Hydraulic or Pneumatic Systems advantageous
  • Mechanical, Production or relevant Engineering background

REQUIREMENTS FOR CNC PROGRAMMER

  • Experience in programming and operating 3, 4, & 5 axis CNC machines CMM programmes and will ideally hold a time served apprecticeship.
  • Good Knowledge of and experience with  Fanuc (ISO) or Heidenhain controls
  • Previous experience of large machining.

Senior Development Engineer Salary: £51,000, 39 hours per week

Role Overview

  • The test development engineer team is a support team in the Product Development department. The senior development engineer role is running quality assurance tests on New Product Integration & for continual improvement of current products, as well as taking technical lead for electronics, legislation and providing guidance / direction to the development engineers.
  • This is a hands-on testing role of prototypes and production products. Feedback and analysis from the products tested are required to continually improve the design with the Product Development team.
  • Reporting to the Process Leader in Product Development, this role focuses on the ability to manage, create and implement practical innovative and cost-effective developments that enable the business to gain market share by the generation and release of new products.

This role has a direct impact on the business achieving increased market share and return through cost effective and timely development of innovative products which comply with National and International Standards.

Senior Development Engineer Candidate Requirements

  • Minimum qualification is a Degree in an Engineering Discipline with at least 5 years in an engineering / developmental role. 
  • Excellent communication skills in both the spoken and written form.
  • Be fully conversant with product development systems, materials, specifications and processes necessary for the generation and introduction of new products and features.
  • Having a proven capability that includes development of products and / or features (reflecting timing, financial & quality targets).
  • Possess good analytical skills and be proficient in Microsoft applications, Word, Excel. Ability to work effectively on your own or part of a project team.
  • Can analyse and compile testing data from the tests performed.
  • Self-motivation and the ability to prioritise workload and meet deadlines. Flexibility and adaptability within a pressurised environment.

Key Responsibilities (but not limited to)

  • Managing and motivating a multi-disciplined project team that will deliver safe, reliable and cost-effective products and features from the conceptual stage to introduction. Managing, planning, costing and controlling a budget associated with a new or modified product or feature. 
  • Being a developmental lead and point of reference within the product development team capable of developing, analysing, interpreting and implementing solutions for new products, or to ensure resolution of any warranty or value analysis proposal.
  • Demonstrate a clear understanding and adherence to business processes and an awareness of ISO9001, ISO14001 and ISO18001. Develop new products in line with best practice and a number of National / International Standards. Also working to USA and other Regionally different Standards.
  • Writing and publishing detailed and comprehensive test reports internally and management of risk for the team
  • Produce both technical presentations and applied samples as and when required in support of sales for customer demonstration and information
  • To undertake or delegate product developments as necessary to ensure timely release of designs, drawings, specifications, etc, as appropriate in line with the project plans / business needs.
  • Maintain programmes throughout the NPI process. Be adept at drawing on internal knowledge as well as industry and/or academic resources in reaching testing conclusions.
  • Actively support test time reduction through Continuous Improvement principles and actively promote 5S principles within the test department.
