A fast growing innovation driven organisation in the Lichfield area is currently seeking to strengthen their existing R&D team with an Electronic Design Engineer. The role will be part of the company’s current innovation programme to deliver the next and future generations of their products.

The Electronic Design Engineer will be experienced in Embedded Software and Firmware and will support the provision of design, technical support and commissioning of electronic control systems utilising their brand new R&D rapid prototyping and testing facilities. 

Joining the team, you will be involved with projects from beginning to end, whilst gaining a wealth of knowledge and experience working alongside likeminded people within an industry responsible for safety critical systems.  As part of their ‘employer of choice’ strategy they will support the position in providing the opportunity to develop new technical skills across both embedded and application level platforms through further learning & development.

As Electronic Design Engineer your responsibilities will include but not be limited to:

  • Conceptual design, development, prototyping and testing of new electronic control products and associated firmware.
  • Translation of customer specification into designs for electronic and control products.
  • Continuous improvement of existing products.
  • Provision of technical support for both internal and external customers on both new and existing products.
  • Liaison with suppliers on technical aspects of integration of new products into product range.
  • Compile technical information for technical updates, CE files and product installation and operating manuals.

The right candidate for this position will have experience and skills sets in the following areas:

  • Experience coding in embedded C for microcontrollers.
  • Good understanding of electronics (including design for EMC and volume production / test).
  • Experience working in an Embedded Design role.
  • Defining & specifying product requirements.
  • Experience of Visual Studio and C# would be advantageous.

Key Responsibilities (but not limited to):

  • Provide a prompt and accurate response to technical enquires from all sources.
  • Confidently communicate technical information via telephone, email or other format satisfying customer requirements.
  • Receive and co-ordinate an appropriate response to MQL (Marketing Qualified Lead) enquiries, including technical advice, feasibility solutions and/or summarising of information for further processing.

Person Specification:

  • BEng or MEng degree in Civil or Geotechnical Engineering (or similar).
  • Ability to communicate technical information effectively through various formats including telephone and email.
  • Capacity to assess design drawings and technical reports to extract the required parameters to provide support and/or produce a design.
  • Previous experience working within an office environment and/or within the civil engineering sector would be advantageous.
  • Capable of prioritizing own workload demonstrating flexibility and agility in a rapidly changing environment, ability to work on own initiative and plan own workload effectively. High level of computer literacy, use of design software, Microsoft office, CRM systems etc.
  • Enthusiasm to grow technical knowledge, keep up to speed with new developments and engage with academic/industry bodies. An awareness of Health and Safety and CDM 2015 regulations would be of benefit.
  • Capable of prioritizing own workload demonstrating flexibility and agility in a rapidly changing environment.

The Role of a Senior Design Engineer:

A vacancy for a Senior Design Engineer has now arisen to join the existing UK Design Team. The successful candidate will provide all design aspects of solutions in the UK and internationally. These solutions comprise feasibility assessment, detailed design, working drawings, specification, quantity estimate and material supply with professional indemnity insurance support. 

  • The successful candidate should be a Civil/Geotechnical Engineer with 5 years’ experience of geotechnical design work.
  • 4+ years’ experience of geotechnical pavement design work
  • Experience of slope stability assessment and retaining wall design, plus experience of Transport Sector including pavement design (ideally Highways sector) is desirable
  • Good interpersonal skills are essential
  • Experience with standard computer programmes and AutoCAD is also necessary as there will be a requirement for hands-on involvement in the provision of solutions within a collaborative team environment
  • The UK design office is central to the sales support and the ability to work independently and efficiently under pressure is of paramount importance.

MECHANICAL DESIGN ENGINEER (GRADUATE / JUNIOR)

We are working with an engineering consultancy who are tasked to create a range of products for a myriad of industry sectors across the globe. Their products are designed, developed and tested to meet tough quality and reliability standards and to their own (ISO) in-house standards as well.

The company are looking to expand their team with a Junior Mechanical Designer, ideally someone who has recently graduated or completed an apprenticeship in Mechanical Engineering and has good exposure of a 3D CAD package with some experience of designing and modelling components, fabrications, and machine parts.

The role will be part of a small team and each project will often involve the complete design, test and prototype of a product, prior to being released for manufacture.

The right candidate will have a strong interest in mechanical design engineering, with the ability to calculate and problem solve mechanical issues. The position is best suited to someone who also has spent sometime in industry using 3D CAD, either as a placement year or time served.

If you are looking for a good 360 Hands-on position that will offer a 100% Design Engineering position from day one and also be part of the company’s aggressive Innovation and New Product Development plans, this would be a good position for you.
