We have an opportunity for a Production Planner to join a manufacturing consumer goods company in the Shropshire area that is seeing a high-level of growth in 2021.

The role of Production Planner will work within the Production Control Department and will be responsible for planning resources for the assembly line and supply chain analysis.

The position will also provide an effective supervisory role for the Data and Production Control entry clerks and will collate the schedule of meeting reports.

  • 39 hrs a week (Mon-Thur 8am to 5.15pm and Fridays 8am to 12 noon) 

Main Duties of a Production Planner:

  • Coordinating the preparation of Operating Planning.
  • Advising on schedule trends and proposing changes as necessary to meet both their customer requirements and the company’s objectives with regard to efficiency.
  • Coordination of the daily schedules for the Assembly area, advising any deviation from the schedule and proposed recovery plans.
  • Coordinate the daily work of the Production Planning department in-line with the company objectives.
  • Control and Planning of promotion activities, ensuring the Quality, Cost and Delivery requirements are met.
  • Issue of monthly reports to the Departmental Manager detailing achievement against schedule and results of monthly activities.
  • Ensure that all areas have up to date Procedures and Training Manuals and that staff have received on the job training. 
  • Assist in the running out of components effected by an ECN.
  • Promote the culture of Continuous and Improvement and 5’s throughout the department.
  • Produce accurate, quality results first time with the minimum of supervision.
  • Ensure the section is kept tidy and promote 5S/5W activities.
  • Compliance with all SOX, ISO9001 & ISO14001 procedures and regulations.

Production Planner Requirements:

  • Qualified to ‘A level’ or equivalent standard
  • A good understanding of MRP Systems
  • Computer Literate (Excel)
  • Experience in working in a Production Planning Department.
  • Experience of working in a high-volume manufacturing company.

DUTIES OF THE OPERATIONS DIRECTOR

  • Overall management and accountability for the Production and Engineering functions, in order to meet sales, output, manufacturing efficiencies, quality, safety and environmental targets

  • Experience in SHE requirements and process safety management (COMAH ideal, but not essential)

Production Manager Duties 

Primary:

  • Running production on a day-to-day basis, effectively managing a team of 20+, utilising the manufacturing ERP systems. Leading the manufacturing function within budget and output targets to meet customer requirements and standards. Responsible for developing an enthusiastic, motivated and flexible team by building good working relationships. Ensuring that safety, customer quality, cost and delivery requirements are met. 
  • Leading by best practice and establishing standard policies and procedures whilst also mentoring and leading teams. Implement and manage continuous improvement and modern manufacturing principals by highlighting deficiencies and recommending and implementing changes in training, working practices and processes when required. Utilising modern engineering manufacturing techniques including progression tooling, specialised production lines and laser blanking
  • Managing the production facilities to meet the diverse bespoke needs of customers’ requirements, ensuring for rapid production rates and strict product pricing. 
  • Management duties will also include dealing with the combination of high and low volume production capabilities. 

Production Manager Skills Requirement 

  • A formal Engineering Qualification (Degree, Diploma or Apprenticeship training)
  • A good recent industry background within the manufacture of Metal Component and Parts (Manufacturing processes with a mix of presswork production lines, laser cutting, forming and finishing departments.)
  • Skilled in utilising ERP / MRP systems 
  • A proven recent background in Managing Manufacturing Staff c10+ 
  • A proven track record of delivering multiple projects within fast lead times.
  • Excellent People Skills (Communication, Leadership, Mentoring, Empathy) 
  • The ability and natural attitude to lead by example
  • Good Paperwork and Project IT skills (MS Office) 
  • Set and implement KPI’s with ability to support & train the team to ensure targets can be achieved.
  • Understanding of Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP), Kaizen, lean manufacturing 
  • Understanding of manufacturing and procurement/supply chain 
  • Understanding of ISO9001, IOSH/NEBOSH, ISO 14001

Maintenance Technician Skills and Qualifications

  • To be considered for the Maintenance Technician position you will ideally be Apprentice trained and/or hold a relevant Engineering qualification such as City & Guilds or ONC/HNC.
  • Successful candidates will be able to read and understand electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic drawings, and will also hold fault finding abilities with PLC controls.
  • It is integral that you can demonstrate experience of working within a previous Maintenance role supporting plant and equipment within a manufacturing environment.
