My client is currently recruiting for a full-time Purchasing Supervisor on a permanent basis; they are a large-scale, long-established manufacturer of industrial equipment in the Shropshire region.

Working pattern will be 8.00am-5.15pm Monday-Thursday and 8.00am-12.00pm Friday.

The ideal Purchasing Supervisor will have:

  • Education to a Degree level
  • Experience working within a high-volume manufacturing production engineering environment
  • Experience of implementing project management (NPI)
  • Experience of implementing 5S, Kaizen and TPM
  • The capability to read and understand complex engineering drawings
  • Experience within supply chain development, with specific focus on technical, quality & commercial matters
  • Experience in managing vendor tooling activities and production processes
  • Experience in the process of negotiation with vendors at all levels, developing and implementing supplier arrangements

Engineering Buyer Person Specification

  • CIPS or a degree would be ideal but are not essential.
  • Good knowledge of engineering, particularly machining processes or able to demonstrate relevant experience.
  • Machining and / or fabrication knowledge.
  • Sound knowledge of Purchasing procedures and practices; good general understanding of business and the role of Purchasing.
  • Must have knowledge of engineering processes and the ability to read technical drawings.  
  • Strong negotiation skills, strong contractual and commercial competence.

Engineering Buyer Key Responsibilities (but not limited to)

  • Provide a day-to-day purchasing and tendering function to achieve the objectives of the Company.
  • Ensure outsourced parts are to optimum value, required quality and delivered on time; to develop and communicate appropriate strategic plans to achieve these objectives.
  • Develop and maintain low-cost sources of supply in line with Company policy.
  • Responsible for identifying potential savings and implementing continuous cost reduction initiatives.
  • Monitor all key suppliers, ensuring corrective action as needed for any identified quality issues. To plan, hold and report on regular key supplier meetings.
  • Liaise with customer departments to ensure early involvement in new projects.

Buyer Role Function

The business is looking for a proactive, driven Buyer to join a growing Supply Chain team on permanent basis. 
Reporting directly to the Supply Chain Manager and working closely with other departments, the Buyer will play a key role within the team.

Buyer Salary: £35,000, 39 hours per week

Commutable From: Coventry, Solihull, Redditch, Rugby, Banbury, Daventry

Buyer Candidate Requirements

  • CIPS qualification would be desirable.
  • Has ERP/MRP knowledge and experience.
  • Be self-motivated, determined and be driven to develop within the Supply Chain.
  • Have strong attention to detail and be IT literate including Microsoft Excel.
  • Be able to work to tight deadlines.
  • Works well under pressure.
  • Ideally will have at least three years purchasing experience, preferably within a Manufacturing environment.

  • Supporting the Procurement function in delivering the most effective procurement strategy.
  • Managing relationships with suppliers and reporting suppliers KPI’s.
  • Liaising with suppliers to manage and expedite orders.
  • Liaising heavily with various stakeholders - both internal and external to ensure the availability of materials for production.

An exciting opportunity has arisen to join a consultative manufacturing business in a Sales Support capacity.

The company design and manufacture bespoke solutions for a range of industries. Their manufacturing capabilities include castings, pressings and fabrication.

MAINTENANCE FITTER

My client is looking for a Maintenance Fitter to join their busy team. Working a x2 shift rotating pattern of days and nights you will be responsible for all maintenance activities on site, to ensure factory production is maximised.
