DUTIES OF THE CNC MACHINIST

  • This is an integral role where you will program, set and operate CNC Lathes / Mills
  • You will read and interpret from engineering drawings to enable programming, setting and manufacture.
  • Create layout sheets to document tooling, tools, set ups and machine parameters.

    
REQUIREMENTS FOR CNC MACHINIST

  • Experience in programming and operating 3, 4, & 5 axis CNC machines CMM programmes and will ideally hold a time served apprecticeship.
  • Good Knowledge of and experience with  Fanuc (ISO) or Heidenhain controls
  • Previous experience of large machining.

Production TIG Welder Person Specification:

  • Proven experience of TIG welding within high technology production / manufacturing company.
  • Experience of welder coding to EN287-1 / ASME IX and / or PED.
  • Experience in welding stainless steel to a very high standard.
  • General interest in engineering, welding, and factory production operations.
  • Good PC skills including Outlook.
  • Production experience in a small batch capital investment goods environment.

Production TIG Welder Key Responsibilities (but not limited to):

  • Carry out all required welding work, to the highest standard.
  • Acquire the knowledge and qualifications for welding the complete size / range of instruments ensuring the necessary quality standards are achieved.
  • Carry out basic assembly related work such as expanding, pressure testing, helium leakage testing as required.
  • The Production TIG Welder will assist in other production related tasks, when required by the line team leader or Production Manager as appropriate within the line or wider production department.
  • Work in accordance with Health & Safety procedures as set out by the company, especially regarding Manual handling and PPE.
  • Support customer inspection activity.
  • Maintain all welding equipment / hand tools in good working condition and keep the welding bays tidy / organised in line with company housekeeping standards.
  • Assist in development of new production methods, to assist in improvements to the present product lines or development of new products.
  • Perform TPM and preventative maintenance tasks on equipment and fixtures as requested.
  • Support continuous improvement activity and take an active role in the implementation of improvements.

Works Supervisor Role Overview

Reporting to the Production Manager, the Workshop Supervisor will oversee approximately 50 staff, on a double day shift, consisting of Team Leader, Operators, Laborers and Apprentices.

Candidate Requirements

  • The Works Supervisor will have proven experience of supervising or managing in an engineering / manufacturing environment.

Works Supervisor Key Responsibilities (but not limited to)

  • Maximise ‘lights out’ machining to increase Productivity and record this in TEAMS.
  • Ensure prior to the end of shift, all applicable machines are set up to run lights out, ensuring the Production Priority database is updated with the latest plans and actions which can be shared by all colleagues.
  • Explore ways of increasing Productivity with further possible unmanned or multi manning and conduct trials to reduce stock allowance for grinding which will reduce machining times. Conduct machining trials using tooling representatives and experts in the field. 
  • Monitor and review operator production efficiencies against targets and carry out any actions where targets are not met with the assistance of the Production team.   • Use ANDON boards to assist in the monitoring of Productivity and educate operators in the importance of booking accuracy.
  • Expect multi manning wherever possible. Always question areas that are not and consider options of how to improve this.
  • The Works Supervisor will implement LEAN techniques including 6S throughout the works. Aim for continuous improvement in order to save time and money.
  • Ensure all completed work is moved onto the next operation by operators and not left in racks for others to move.
  • Regularly review and update the skills' matrix plan to Identify areas of weakness within work cells and operators to ensure we have a fully skilled and flexible workforce.
  • Attend daily factory tour and include team leaders for their input.
  • Update machine capabilities to assist in planning the production requirements.
  • Communicate plans and instructions to colleagues during shift change handover and supply daily email for reference and for others to continue with the required actions.
  • Use initiative to make decisions, challenge set plans and try out new ideas.

PRODUCT DESIGN ENGINEER

Our world-leading client is looking for a Product Design Engineer, inside IR35. The initial assignment duration is 6 months with the possibility of extension.

This is a hybrid role; you will be expected to work onsite 1 or 2 days per week.

For this role we're looking for an engineer with a design biased background who has some project management experience. You will need to be comfortable drawing up quality reviews and liaising with suppliers.

  • CREO experience is required
  • PTC Windchill experience would be a big advantage
