The Company:

The business is an SME, with 150 employees and 60 years of manufacturing heritage. They have a global supply chain and export over 30% of their product to a world-wide network of customers. The operation consists of a fabrication facility, assembly area, large yard, logistics area and finished goods stores with the majority of product designed and manufactured by the company at their UK site.

The Role:

An excellent opportunity has arisen for an Electrical Design Engineer to join our clients Engineering Department to work on various installation projects. The electrical works consists of electrical installation design, control systems and control panel general arrangements. The role also involves giving technical support to their sales team and discussing issues with their customers.

Key Responsibilities:

  • The completion of projects including the preparation of works specifications and AutoCAD drawings
  • The use of software to complete cable calculations
  • Pre-installation site surveys
  • The completion of technical reports
  • The programming of PLC’s and HMI’s
  • Research and development of new products and services
  • NICEIC supervisor duties

Person Specification:

  • A minimum HNC in Electrical Engineering qualification, or approved equivalent will be considered
  • Proven CAD skills
  • A strong passion for engineering and the ability to demonstrate a desire to build a career within this industry
  • Excellent communication skills
  • A full drivers licence
  • Experience in MS Office Suite Software

Salary:

  • £45,000 - negotiable dependent on level of experience

  • To work closely with the company’s production and manufacturing engineering functions to ensure designs are as effective as possible for the wider business.

  • Creation and development of conceptual design schemes.
  • Attendance of site visits, meetings and surveys as required by the projects.

Person Specification:

  • Degree or HND held in either Civil or Mechanical Engineering (or related discipline)
  • You will have experience of fabrications, fabricated steel components or steel structures
  • Structural Engineering / Structural Design experience would be advantageous
  • Experience with SAP ERP or similar is desirable as is weld fatigue experience
  • A good appreciation of the importance of Design for Manufacture / Assembly principles
  • Practical manufacturing or installation experience will be seen as beneficial
  • High capability in written and spoken English

Salary:

  • £45,000 - negotiable dependent on level of experience

  • Minimum 8 years’ experience working in industrial structural engineering with experience of either;
    • Mast or column structures
    • Fabricated steel components
    • Large scale bespoke structures
  • Ideally Chartered or working towards Chartered status with relevant engineering organisation e.g. IStructE
  • Understanding of relevant British and European design codes and their application to structural design
  • Experience overseeing product development, custom structural design, executing design calculations and design validation
  • Understanding of foundation design based on site conditions and structural requirements
  • Appreciation of dynamics and wind loading requirements when applied to structures in situ        
  • Ability to complete failure mode analysis and site-investigations into ageing structures and structural integrity, advising on structural maintenance and reviewing structural maintenance reports

Salary:

  • £45,000 - £60,000 - negotiable dependant on level of experience (the business is considering Senior, Principal and Manager level)
