Key Responsibilities

  • DSP algorithm development, implementation and optimisation
  • This includes both high-level modelling (MATLAB, C/C++, VST plug-ins) and assembler level optimisation on the target platforms

Other Duties:

  • Assisting in project planning, scoping and problem solving in terms of software
  • Other duties within skill set but not necessarily role scope as and when (creative design input, attending meetings etc

Technical Skills and Qualifications Required

Qualified to degree level or above in a relevant subject 

Essential:-

  • Excellent demonstrable Embedded C programming skills
  • C++ (OOP) programming skills
  • Solid understanding of fundamental DSP theory
  • Strong understanding of software engineering principles
  • Experience in audio signal processing
  • Understanding of/experience developing VST plugins
  • Passion for the music industry and a Guitar player

Desirable:-

  • Several years (minimum 3) commercial experience as an Audio DSP Engineer.
  • SHARC DSP experience.
  • Experience using JUCE or similar for creating software GUIs
  • Proficient using MATLAB
  • Experience in assembler-level optimisation (preferably on ARM Cortex M/Cortex A)
  • Experience in testing audio algorithms and audio processing blocks

Role Function

Reporting to the Training Manager, the Assistant Training Manager will help manage a new training facility, taking day to day control of the design and delivery of theory and practical training packages for clients comprehensive product range and technology training modules.

Assistant Training Manager Candidate Specification

  • The Assistant Training Manager will have experience in delivering both theoretical and practical training

Development Engineer Candidate Essential Requirements

  • Proven Development Engineer, with Applications Engineering experience.
  • A 2.1 degree in Mechanical engineering with Aerospace/Automotive/Energy/Oil & Gas background together with 3 to 5 years of demonstrable experience in a similar role.
  • Working knowledge and experience of CAD & PDM (preferably SolidWorks) and FEA tools (preferably ANSYS Workbench and/or SolidWorks Simulation).
  • Ability to create and interpret engineering drawings with GD&T. Ability to perform hand calculations for preliminary design, sizing, and stress assessment of static and rotating components.
  • Material selection ability and knowledge of conventional manufacturing processes.
  • Good understanding of Applied Mechanics, Strength of Materials, Metal Fatigue, Rotordynamics, and Vibrations along with a basic understanding of heat transfer, thermodynamics, and fluid mechanics.

Development Engineer Key Responsibilities

  • The Development Engineer will support the Chief Applications Engineer in providing timely response to new application and product enquiries for driveline components, and turnkey test rigs for testing high-speed rotating machines such as e-motors, generators, aero engines, gearboxes, turbines, compressors, pumps, turbochargers etc.
  • Produce innovative designs/ideas and create workable and cost-effective solutions.
  • Assist in product costing and preparation of technical and commercial proposals and assist in new product development and product improvement activities including brainstorming, design, analysis, supplier selection and testing.
  • Create 3D CAD conceptual designs and 2D drawings.
  • Collaborate with manufacturing, assembly and testing to build in-house R&D test rigs for new product development.
  • The ability to conduct test schedules, document the results and present these findings clearly.

  • The selection and specification of suitable equipment suppliers and processes.

R&D Technician Key Responsibilities (this job description is not exhaustive; a full role description will be sent to you)

Provide support to the R&D department, including;

  • Receive and organise parts/design data including components by maintaining build records and logs of engineering models and prototypes 
  • Organising and collaborating with Production for build processes such as brazing and welding.
  • Work closely with Production Engineering, sub-contractors and suppliers when necessary.
  • Occasionally inspect parts and/or work with Goods In department to ensure parts are correct to drawing.
  • Assemble components, engineering models and prototype meters.
  • Design (using Solidworks) and manufacture basic jigs, fixtures and assembly tools utilising our range of prototyping equipment (e.g 3D printing)

The R&D Technician will take ownership of the R&D lab;

  • Organising tools and equipment including managing and operating the rapid prototype printers. Process and submit print requests, maintain the stock of consumables. (Training will be provided)
  • Maintaining clean, tidy, organised and functional lab environment.
  • Specifying and proposing lab equipment to fulfil requirements of testing when necessary in cooperation with R&D Engineers
  • Assist with maintaining the stock of raw materials (e.g. metal/ plastic sheet, bar and tube etc.) and hardware.
  • Assist with maintaining the stock and safe storage of hazardous materials. Work in cooperation with the HSE department. (e.g. Keep a record of all hazardous materials being stored with associated COSHH and MSDS documents)
  • Assist with maintaining and operating laboratory equipment (e.g. oven/furnace, environment chamber, winding machine, microscopes, liquid nitrogen equipment etc.)
