Quality Manager Package, Benefits and Hours

Quality Manager Role

Client is a specialist engineering, design and manufacturing company with a worldwide reputation as an innovator in low volume, high performance solutions, across various industries such as aerospace, automotive, energy and oil & gas. 

The company has a well-established ISO 9001:2015 Quality Management System, amongst other accreditations. 

Taking ownership of the Quality department, the Quality Manager will be responsible for maintaining the quality management system and leading the development of a progressive culture within the business. You will drive product quality and reliability improvements whilst also establishing and implementing opportunities to increase efficiency, reduce lead times and maximise profit.

Person Specification

  • At least 5 years' experience operating as a Quality Manager, preferably within an engineering environment
  • Must be a good communicator, ability to influence with excellent fluency in spoken and written English
  • Self-starter, effective time manager and a positive and supportive line manager
  • Assertive, with diplomatic skills and a good appreciation of business and commercial needs
  • Understanding of precision engineering, machining, measurement and special processes is preferred
  • Report writing and presentation skills and proficient in Microsoft Office applications. Crystal report writing skills or ability to extract information from databases is desirable
  • Working knowledge of manufacturing systems (MRP)
  • Membership of professional body Chartered Quality Institute is preferred

Quality Manager Key Responsibilities

  • The Quality Manager will improve internal procedures and documentation
  • Analysing key performance data and report / present it to all levels of the business
  • Reviewing quality concerns, analysing root cause and implement corrective actions liaising directly with employees, customers and suppliers
  • Planning and implementation of annual internal audit plan ensuring audits conducted across all departments within the company
  • Developing supplier relationships and monitoring and reporting their performance
  • Ensuring compliance with all applicable standards, regulations and laws with respect to product quality and supply.

  • Set up/attend H&S representative meetings. Each month you will report findings of internal audits and any significant H&S issues to the monthly senior management meeting

Quality Auditor Key Responsibilities

  • Create PFMEA’s for existing product on the assembly lines.
  • Oversee product inspection / finalising. Carry out line checks to ensure product quality is maintained and procedures are adhered to.
  • Follow the structured checklist for every product inspection. Develop the structured checklist to improve the inspection process.
  • Record issues found, work with Manufacturing Engineers to identify root cause and apply permanent corrective action.
  • Develop existing / create new KPI’s to report on Quality/Issues found and resolved.
  • Strip and Audit Packaged products to ensure that they adhere to the QC standards & BOM’s.
  • Mentor and Coach, the team to develop skills and ensure cross training in the process areas to build flexibility.
  • Ensure a Quality first approach within the team. Raise CRNs to introduce improvements or address non-conformance.

Candidate Requirements

The Quality Auditor will have previous experience in automotive or aerospace Quality Auditing and Quality Engineering.

  • Training / mentoring operators in order to improve their inspection skills.
  • Excellent communication skills across all processes.
  • Leadership experience with the ability to challenge behaviour that is of detriment to the team.
  • Decision making and problem-solving skills and a keen eye for detail.

  • The Quality Engineer will conduct root cause analysis and implementation of corrective actions for process related concerns

  • Responsible for maintaining the ongoing calibration of monitoring and measuring equipment used throughout the business. When required, develop and deliver training material to customers and end users of client products at the customer or end user's premise
  • Interface with our Engineering and Sales departments to ensure transfer to Production of new products are in accordance with approved data through involvement in DFMEAs. Maintain and police the non-conformance database.
