  • Compression suite: To run all types of compression machines in use in manufacturing department and their specific processes.
  • Granulation suite: To granulate from all suites contained in manufacturing department and their specific processes
  • Dispensary suite: To dispense batch ingredients and facilitate its specific processes
  • Cleaning suite: To clean intermediate bulk containers (IBC) and complete daily sanitization routine of purified water outlets.
  • Coating suite: To coat tablets to specification and specific processes

Essential experience required for this manufacturing operative’s role role:

  • Previous employment experience in the pharmaceutical manufacturing or food production industry.
  • Ability and initiative to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Good standard of Maths, minimum GCSE Level 3
  • Good standard of English, Minimum GCSE Level 3, both written and verbal, as accurate record keeping, completion of documentation and communication with other department personnell is essential.
  • Knowledge of Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP)

Test Development Engineer Function:

The Test Development Engineer is a support team member in the Product Development department. The role is running quality assurance tests on New Product Integration & for continual improvement of current products.

This is a hands-on testing role of prototypes and production products. Feedback and analysis from the products tested are required to continually improve the design with the Product Development team.

This role has a direct impact on the business achieving increased market share and return through cost effective and timely development of innovative products which comply with National and International Standards

Test Development Engineer Salary: £40,000, 39 hours per week

Candidate Requirements

  • The Test Development Engineer will be qualified to a minimum of HND/HNC in a suitable engineering discipline, this can be electrical or mechanical, but you will have a good appreciation of both disciplines.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to work effectively independently or part of a project team.
  • The ability to analyse and compile testing data from the tests performed.
  • Proactive and pragmatic: find the most cost-effective solutions to yield the best test results.
  • Possess good analytical skills and be proficient in Microsoft applications, Word, Excel.
  • Self-motivated with the ability to prioritise their workload and meet deadlines.
  • Ideally the candidate will have skills in gas/ fuel technology together with the ability to understand electrical circuit diagrams and formulate new when required.

Key Responsibilities (but not limited to)

  • The Test Development Engineer will be capable of setting up and monitoring tests, preparing models for submission to the appropriate test authority.
  • Develop in conjunction with the project team, the gas and electrical sub systems used within the product.
  • Interpret marketing briefs into tangible product that can be manufactured within the business capabilities.
  • Develop new products in line with best practice and a number of National / International Standards, briefly EN30-1-1 International Gas Safety Standard and BS EN 60335 Appliance Safety Standards for Electrical and DF Appliances. Also working to USA and other Regionally different Standards.
  • Support & manage testing, writing and publishing detailed and comprehensive test reports internally and management of risk for the team, producing both technical presentations and applied samples as and when required in support of sales for customer demonstration and information
  • Create and maintain internal design and test verification test methods in line with the latest approval standards.
  • Be accountable for accurate and timely release of testing data, including signoffs of quality control data as acceptable
  • Maintain programmes throughout the NPI process. Be adept at drawing on internal knowledge as well as industry and/or academic resources in reaching testing conclusions.
  • Actively support test time reduction through Continuous Improvement principles and promote 5S principles within the test department.

  • The role will include provision of documentation and training support to ensure all operator actions and decisions are clearly and unambiguously understood by the production operators and their manager.
  • You will also be responsible for making sure the department manager and operators know how the process should be maintained and what the limits of its capability are. 
  • The Manufacturing Engineer will also provide real-time process support to the production team and will make sure process problems are quickly brought to the attention of the manager. 
  • You will be responsible for highlighting and evaluating improvement opportunities and for making clear the likely consequences of any proposed change. 
  • Where appropriate you will take the lead, facilitate or just monitor any process change that is authorised by the department manager.

Candidate Requirements

  • Significant experience in a similar role in a manufacturing environment, ideally within pressings, assembly, fabrication, sheet metal or related industry.
  • A manufacturing engineering qualification to degree level (or equivalent experience) with production process design bias and a proven record of accomplishment of delivering results.
  • Familiarity with manufacturing systems techniques such as Lean, SMED, SPC, Process loading, PFMEA, 5S, Standard work, Poke Yoke, visual management, operator maintenance, Spaghetti diagrams, Yamazumi, single piece flow, no fault forward, kan-ban material control and VSM.
  • The capability to use Solidworks, Draftsight, AutoCAD systems to create tooling or layout specifications and drawings.
  • The capability to use Radan in order to program Laser, Turret Punch, Folders, etc
  • Familiar with H&S and risk assessments and strategies to eliminate workplace hazards.
  • Able to exploit the use of PC based systems and MS office tools to support the needs of the role.

In Addition

  • Familiar with the requirements of Quality Management Systems and Quality planning processes required to support ISO 9001 and to drive continuous improvement.
  • Able to create standard operating procedures and work instructions, have an understanding of ladder logic and able to read engineering drawings and schematic diagrams.
  • Well organised and methodical, and able to plan work to balance conflicting priorities and meet deadlines.

Key Responsibilities (but not limited to)

  • The Manufacturing Engineer will reduce and eliminate workplace hazards and ensure continuous improvements to workplace health and safety.
  • Design new systems, equipment and processes for the introduction of new products or the improvement of existing ones. Supporting and Leading Continuous Improvement projects, driving out waste, reducing downtime and improving OTIFEF delivery to customers.
  • Target inefficiencies quickly using problem solving techniques such as A3’s, Pareto, Ishikawa, and Root Cause Analysis. Support, cost estimate and document all engineering changes.
  • Ensure non-conformances within production are eliminated and controls are in place to prevent reoccurrences and ensure all manufacturing processes are supported by the necessary training, documentation and Quality Controls.
  • Create, improve, and review Standard Operating Procedures. Support the introduction of new products and changes to current products into production. Ensure all documentation is relevant and up to date.
  • Improve manufacturing efficiency by analysing and planning work flow, space requirements, equipment layout, and visual controls.
  • Develop and evaluate manufacturing processes by studying product requirements; researching, designing, modifying, and testing manufacturing methods and equipment; conferring with equipment vendors. As well as designing and implement data driven product quality and process capability improvements by designing testing methods; testing finished- product and processes; establishing standards and confirming repeatability within manufacturing processes, including 8D analysis
