Job Description

Maintenance Electrician 

The right Maintenance Electrician will hold:

  • Install and or maintain all electrical & electro-mechanical plant or machinery in line with Company requirements.
  • Operate a preventative electrical maintenance system to ensure that the plant & machinery is in good working order.
  • Fault find and repair any electrical or electro-mechanical related problems on the plant or equipment.
  • Fault Find Allen Bradley and Siemens PLC equipment.
  • Ensure that all plant and machinery is kept in a good working and clean condition.
  • Complete all relevant paperwork associated with the task being performed in a timely and accurate manner.
  • Report any problems regarding equipment and machinery immediately to the Engineering Team Leader.
  • Ensure that you are aware of the Company Health, Safety and Environmental policies and procedures and that you adhere to them at all times.
  • Promote Lean thinking and actively look for ways to improve efficiency.
  • Cooperate with supervision and fellow employees.
  • Complete Maintenance Work requests

Skills:

  • Apprentice Trained
  • Holding a ONC / City & Guilds in Electrical Engineer
  • You must have 16th/17th Edition wiring regulations
  • Knowledge and experience of fault finding and repairs to industrial systems
  • Knowledge of PLC programs and fault finding (Allen Bradley) (Siemens)
  • Conversant with VSD (variable speed drives)
  • Able to read schematic electrical drawings
  • Analytical and problem-solving skills

Introduction:

We are actively seeking a Mechanical Fitter / Assembler - ideally, we are looking for this individual to start before the Christmas Break.

Requirements:

Ideally the Mechanical Fitter will hold:

  • Experience with: Servo Motors, Gearboxes, Hydraulics & Pneumatics
  • Flexibility is a must
  • Apprentice Trained
  • Holding at least 5 years within a similar position
  • Holding an HNC / NVQ Level 3 in Mechanical Engineering

The applicant should be experienced in all aspects of mechanical engineering from bench assembly work to using small basic machine tools. He/she should be experienced in working with pneumatics, hydraulics and competent with basic electrics. Knowledge of working and assembling servo motors, gearboxes and associated equipment would be an advantage.

Duties:

  • The fitter is employed to carryout assembly of any of the company’s equipment in line with guidelines and instructions.
  • The fitter will be required to operate tools, including a centre lathe, milling machine, grinders, drills etc. and to carry out simple modification work of parts manufactured by subcontractors if required.
  • The fitter will carry out simple welding as part of a drum assembly process.
  • The fitter will assist other members of the production team when required.
  • Carry out installation and service work in accordance with the company guide lines and procedures with consideration to the budgeted costs in any country worldwide to which machines are supplied. Overseas travel of approximately 10 weeks per year will be required.

Currently looking for a Multi-Skilled Maintenance Engineer - Mechanically Biased to join a leading organisation based in the Manchester Location.

About the Role of a Multi-Skilled Maintenance Engineer - Mechanically Biased:

  • Working as part of the maintenance team to ensure that all plant equipment and machinery on site are operating efficiently with the minimum amount of downtime and they are kept in safe and good mechanical working order. 
  • Ensure safe working at all times with a right first time every time by everyone attitude to produce a cost effective, quality product whilst adhering to the Company’s policies and procedures.

Main Responsibilities of a Multi-Skilled Maintenance Engineer – Mechanically Biased:

  • Carry out the necessary maintenance operations to all plant equipment and machinery in line with Company requirements.
  • Respond in a timely manner to all breakdown situations to minimise plant downtime.
  • Carry out all planned preventative maintenance as requested.
  • Ensure that all plant and machinery is kept in a good working and clean condition.
  • Assist with the installation of new plant equipment.
  • Maintain and monitor the machines and equipment to enable them to achieve their budgeted outputs at the required quality levels.
  • Ensure that all machine guards are fitted correctly in accordance with H&S requirements.

Essential experience of a Multi-Skilled Maintenance Engineer – Mechanically Biased:

  • ONC in Mechanical engineering
  • Electrical qualification to show competency
  • Previous experience of working in a manufacturing environment
  • Full mechanical apprenticeship
  • IT Literate

Desirable experience of a Multi-Skilled Maintenance Engineer – Mechanically Biased:

  • HNC in Mechanical engineering
  • Health & Safety qualification (IOSH)
