This is an exciting opportunity for a Quality Engineer to join a well-established company, with nearly 60 years of experience.

The business is a growing company, who design and manufacture specialist equipment, across many different sectors. 

Quality Engineer Package and Benefits

  • Salary £25,000 - £30,000, dependant on experience 
  • Hours 8:30am – 5:00pm, 4pm finish on Friday’s (flexi-hours are available)
  • 30 days holiday, increasing to 33 days with service
  • 4x salary – Death in service

Person Specification

  • The Quality Engineer will have a bias in mechanical engineering and the ability to read and interpret drawings
  • Experience of lean manufacturing tools and techniques, including root cause analysis, 5s, 8d, Kaizen
  • Knowledge of ATEX regulations would be preferred, but is not essential
  • Have knowledge of current ISO quality standards
  • Will be a competent IT user

Key Responsibilities (but not limited to)

  • The Quality Engineer will conduct root cause analysis and implementation of corrective actions for process related concerns
  • Responsible for continual improvement activities to enhance the current systems
  • Conduct audits, including closing out audit findings, creating audits finding reports and determine proper corrective and preventative actions
  • Analyse internal quality failures, corrective and preventive action to determine trends and target improvement activities accordingly using tools such as Pareto analysis
  • The Quality Engineer will create and maintain company quality documentation, such as Standard Operating Procedures, Quality plans and check lists and preparation of QA reports
  • Responsible for maintaining the ongoing calibration of monitoring and measuring equipment used throughout the business. When required, develop and deliver training material to customers and end users of client products at the customer or end user's premise
  • Interface with our Engineering and Sales departments to ensure transfer to Production of new products are in accordance with approved data through involvement in DFMEAs. Maintain and police the non-conformance database.

  • Role Function

The key focuses for the Quality Auditor is to audit the factory systems against agreed standards to ensure that the factory is complying to agreed practices at all times.

Quality Auditor Key Responsibilities

  • Responsible for carrying out audits in all areas of the factory, raising any findings from audits with the appropriate person/department to enable compliance.
  • Preparation and sampling of ingredients, finished product and swabbing to agreed schedule.
  • Calibration of designated equipment to agreed frequencies.
  • Collect, collate and filing of documentation as part of the due diligence.
  • Logging samples onto designated systems as required.
  • Responsible for ensuring quality and food safety policies and procedures are being adhered to throughout the factory using various methods and tools.
  • Imputing and trending of data to use in site and customer KPI reports to agreed frequency, where applicable.

Additional Responsibilities

  • Updating Policies and procedures and documentation to maintain ongoing approval to site certification and approval. Attend the site HACCP and TACCP meetings as required.
  • Liaise with suppliers over raw material non-conformances raised.
  • Monitor the site Pest Control arrangements.
  • Liaise with NPD team regarding new products launches, factory trials etc. collate information for QAS and line standard documentation.
  • The Quality Auditor will carry out audits of product being produced and setting up and evaluation of finished products through taste panels/QAS on site.
  • Support site metal detection arrangements. Investigate reported complaints, internal quality issues and investigate internal foreign body findings.
  • Assisting in preparation and delivery of samples to customers. Monitoring environmental policies and performance within the factory and wider environment are being adhered to.

Production Planner Function:

  • The Production Planner will plan, schedule and monitor workload through manufacturing components.
  • Ensure components workload is planned in advance for each resource in manufacturing, to enable the delivery of the correct materials/tools/programs etc. Thus, enabling the accurate delivery of spares and capital work to internal and external customers.

Person Specification:

  • Ability to plan and communicate production orders under pressure.
  • Excellent communication skills. The Production Planner will be able to interact well with internal and external customers.
  • Proficient use of computer systems and software applications.
  • In‐depth knowledge of ERP or MRP software preferred.
  • Minimum of 5 years production planning experience in a related industry.

Production Planner Key Responsibilities (but not limited to):

We are preferably looking for an electrically biased Maintenance Supervisor with an interest and passion for working within food manufacturing and experience in leading and managing a team. The role requires you to work a Morning and Afternoon shift (7am-3pm, 3pm-11pm) with a benefits package of:

Role Function

Reporting to the Production Manager, the Section Leader will manage a team of people within a designated Manufacturing section. You will have direct day-to-day responsibility for the communication, workload, quality and staff performance of all activities within the designated manufacturing team.

You will also be responsible for maintaining a safe working environment, by ensuring that all health and safety regulations are strictly adhered to, and to identify areas for improvement and drive through changes to gain bottom line results.

Person Specification

  • The Section Leader will be self-motivated and quality conscious.
  • PC literate (ideally Epicor & Office).
  • Confident and decisive, with good people management and communication skills.
  • Tenacity and drive to bring about improvements.

  • Assist the Production Manager in implementing process change initiatives, cost reductions and achieving performance improvement targets.
  • Manage the department’s production workload, equipment utilisation, and to ensure health and safety adherence.
  • Discipline, time and attendance, and performance appraisals for all direct reports, attending or chair daily/weekly/monthly meetings and briefs, as required, in order to communicate departmental/company information.
  • Ensure safe and clean working practices are adhered to, as identified via housekeeping audits and actively reduce or eliminate ‘waste’ activities and challenge existing processes and procedures.
  • To make sure orders and resources are prioritised and communicated accordingly, reporting quality issues to continually improve product and process quality.
  • Deputise for the Production Manager and other Section Leaders, as and when required.
