INDUSTRIAL ENGINEER

The Industrial Engineer will be responsible for supporting manufacturing operations by resolving build quality problems, improving tools and processes and ensuring the smooth introduction of project related product changes and new features. To investigate, plan and implement new engineering processes/methods/tooling facilities in conjunction with Manufacturing departments

Key Responsibilities 

Being actively involved in the continuous process improvement within assembly/manufacturing, the Industrial Engineer will be a key figure in your ability to:

  • Identify and action waste elimination through response to Takt time variation
  • Define and implement build processes with consideration to appropriate Health & Safety and Quality standards
  • Ensure the support process documentation with particular attention to visual management techniques
  • Using a “hands on” approach you will proactively utilise both lean principles and problem-solving tools and techniques within the workplace to respond to “Takt time variation”, build quality issues
  • Investigate and resolve manufacturing related problems, Cost of Quality concerns and issues raised by teams on Problem and Countermeasure boards, leading problem-solving teams where appropriate

Be Responsible for Signing Product Change Notifications Ensuring That:

  • A thorough feasibility analysis has been conducted
  • Understand any implications regarding process/man assignment changes
  • Highlighting tooling requirements
  • The Industrial Engineer will fully understand all Health and Safety implications for any proposed change
  • Fully understand any production related cost

And Including:

  • Management of BOMs and material movement through plan for every part
  • Develop ergonomic processes designed around Lean Manufacturing principles including Yamazumi and 5S
  • The Industrial Engineer will work with colleagues in all cross-functional projects to ensure smooth transition across the manufacturing facility

Person Specification

  • HND or equivalent is essential
  • CAD experience would be highly advantageous
  • Manufacturing Engineering degree or equivalent is desirable

Essential Experience 

  • Knowledge and use of quality analysis and problem-solving techniques.
  • Proven experience in an Industrial Engineer or Manufacturing Engineering role.
  • Ability to read engineering drawings.
  • Understanding of Jig & Tool design

Desirable Experience

  • Industrial engineering techniques
  • Project management skills

Bill of Material (BOM’s)

  • Analyse BOM to ensure the material is correct.
  • Ensure the times within each process are correct
  • Working with the production team to ensure BOM details are updated to reflect current operations

Press Brake Operator Key Responsibilities

  • Set-up, adjust and prepare press brake (Current machines) Amada, Edwards Pearson.
  • Finding correct tooling/program per set-up.
  • Check the heights of tooling and adjust back stops etc. along with light guards.
  • Set-up and adjustment of material for folding at correct height.
  • Locating programs and adjust tonnage and tooling for each part being formed.
  • Provide feedback to Production Manager all jobs not meeting set-up and/or production standards.
  • Producing folded parts to drawings supplied, measuring with Vernier Caliper, Protractors etc.
  • Other job-related duties as may be necessary to carry out the responsibilities of this position.

Press Brake Operator Specification

  • This person will work well on their own and as part of a team.
  • Good communication skills.
  • He/she will need to be well driven.
  • The appropriate person must have a keen eye for detail, and ability to read drawings.
  • They must have pride in their work and maintain a tidy safe workspace.
  • Must be reliable, and physically fit.
  • Good mathematical ability and able to use measuring devices such as Vernier callipers and protractors.
  • Be able to work in a fast-paced-team environment.
