The Role:

The Civil Engineering Technician is an integral part of the UK & Ireland sales team providing technical support for both external and internal customers. Working closely with the Technical Sales Support Engineer the role will manage technical enquiries received from multiple sources assisting customers in a timely and efficient manor enhancing the company customer centric ethos.

The incumbent will engage confidently with clients, consultants and contractors providing solutions for civil engineering challenges, promoting company values and developing additional leads where possible. Although the primary objective of the role is to provide customer support work will be varied to include summarisation of detailed project information and the opportunity to produce designs.

Key Responsibilities (but not limited to):

  • Provide a prompt and accurate response to technical enquires from all sources.
  • Confidently communicate technical information via telephone, email or other format satisfying customer requirements.
  • Receive and co-ordinate an appropriate response to MQL (Marketing Qualified Lead) enquiries, including technical advice, feasibility solutions and/or summarising of information for further processing.
  • Gather appropriate information from external customers to enable effective tracking of opportunities and eventual sale of company solutions.
  • Assess technical information received from internal and external sources summarising key parameters and describing customer to be passed to the design department for processing.
  • Build strong working relationships cross-functionally providing technical support to internal customers as required including external seal, design and customer services.
  • Use all technological tools provided by the company to accurately track work completed and opportunities with specific attention to CRM management.

Person Specification:

  • BEng or MEng degree in Civil or Geotechnical Engineering (or similar).
  • Ability to communicate technical information effectively through various formats including telephone and email.
  • Capacity to assess design drawings and technical reports to extract the required parameters to provide support and/or produce a design.
  • Previous experience working within an office environment and/or within the civil engineering sector would be advantageous.
  • Capable of prioritizing own workload demonstrating flexibility and agility in a rapidly changing environment, ability to work on own initiative and plan own workload effectively. High level of computer literacy, use of design software, Microsoft office, CRM systems etc.
  • Enthusiasm to grow technical knowledge, keep up to speed with new developments and engage with academic/industry bodies. An awareness of Health and Safety and CDM 2015 regulations would be of benefit.
  • Capable of prioritizing own workload demonstrating flexibility and agility in a rapidly changing environment.

The Role of a Senior Design Engineer:

A vacancy for a Senior Design Engineer has now arisen to join the existing UK Design Team. The successful candidate will provide all design aspects of solutions in the UK and internationally. These solutions comprise feasibility assessment, detailed design, working drawings, specification, quantity estimate and material supply with professional indemnity insurance support. 

  • The successful candidate should be a Civil/Geotechnical Engineer with 5 years’ experience of geotechnical design work.
  • 4+ years’ experience of geotechnical pavement design work
  • Experience of slope stability assessment and retaining wall design, plus experience of Transport Sector including pavement design (ideally Highways sector) is desirable
  • Good interpersonal skills are essential
  • Experience with standard computer programmes and AutoCAD is also necessary as there will be a requirement for hands-on involvement in the provision of solutions within a collaborative team environment
  • The UK design office is central to the sales support and the ability to work independently and efficiently under pressure is of paramount importance.

They are looking for an experienced Construction Manager, essentially, who has steel framed buildings / steel framing construction management experience.

Although there will be an element of site visits, this is not a Site Manager role.

Key Responsibilities Include

  • Oversee selection of all subcontractors working on bases and foundations. Manage all subcontractors work schedules/costs and ensure that they have the necessary paperwork
  • Control, supervise and manage the end-to-end process from bases through to erection
  • Report back to the Drawing Team any errors identified on site visits, base installation or erection
  • Track and control the construction schedules for bases and erections and associated costs to achieve completion of projects in the most cost-effective manner and order all concrete for bases team and all plant for erecting teams
  • Conduct site visits to accurately measure and quote for customers
  • Support the Sales Team with complex quotes using extensive knowledge and the Drawing Team with complex detailing using extensive knowledge
  • Ensure all building are erected to the highest standard by carrying out regular reviews of erectors work and checking we deliver exceptional quality, ensuring all customer complaints are managed effectively and escalated internally where required

Essential Skills Required

  • Minimum of ten years’ experience, which must include experience within steel framing / steel framed buildings
  • Good oral and written communication skills and excellent customer service skills
  • Ability to manage people, planning, prioritisation, organisation and administration

This is an excellent opportunity, with a world leading business, for a proven Analysis Engineer, supporting on a battery pack project, for 20 weeks.

This applied science position conducts numerical computations via third party and in-house tools to determine structural performance of components and systems. Evaluates software and methods and provides improvement recommendations. The results from the computer models are used to determine the validity of the design to meet the customer requirements. Design recommendations are then provided as needed.

Candidate Essentials

  • Good analytical skills and the ability to present the analysis results to a wide audience
  • Experienced in using multi-physics optimization tools
  • Previous experience in thermal / mechanical analysis

Experience

  • Prior Senior or Lead Engineer equivalent work experience in a relevant discipline area is required with a demonstrated track record of technical problem solving and quality decision making. 
  • Preferred candidates would have a mix of experience using MS Office tools, Matlab, Python, APDLANSYS, FORTRAN or C programming, Windows/Linux operating systems, and desktop/remote high-performance computing hardware systems.

Job Summary:

Client uses a process called Class 4 to manage projects related to suppliers and products. These projects typically involve a number of different functions not limited to but including manufacturing operations, engineering, quality and supply chain & logistics. The purpose behind these projects can vary from managing risk at a supplier, continuation of supply of product and cost reduction projects. These projects are led by the individual project leaders and in some cases a project can be so big or so critical that an individual is assigned to lead the projects. These projects are managed through a system called Agility. Agility is a project management tool that is institutionalized within the business across all functions and is used to coordinate project approvals virtually.
