Role Function

Produce Application Suggestions, Tender Submissions and Design Submissions for reinforced soil, walls, slopes and stabilisation projects, providing clients with quotations and advice on product and technical specifications.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare accurate and timely Application Suggestions (AS) using company proprietary and CAD software, liaising and advising clients as necessary in order to secure specification in tender documents.
  • Prepare and provide clients with cost effective Tender Submissions (TS) calculating unit rates and costings of construction using company products in order to secure sales. 
  • Produce fully indemnified Design Submissions (DS) as part of the legally binding contract documentation.
  • Identify, analyse and design out potential risks within projects at the AS,TS an DS stages liaising with the Design Manager and Senior Design Engineer(s) as necessary in order to comply with Health and Safety Executive (HSE) and Construction Design Manufacture (CDM) regulations and minimize exposure to potential claims. 
  • Assist Area Civil Engineers, as required, at technical seminars/presentations in order to promote company products and solutions and improve Sales.
  • Maintain continuous personal development (CPD) in order to keep upto date with company products/policies and technology development.

Person Specification

  • B. Eng. Degree with geotechnical modules – (preferred) or HND with 3+ years’ experience of highways/infrastructure projects
  • A solid working knowledge of AutoCAD
  • An understanding of Civil Engineering and soil mechanics
  • Previous experience in designing with geosynthetics would be an advantage.
  • Current Driving Licence would be an advantage

We are currently looking for a Mechanical Design Engineer to work for a fast growing organisation who specialise in the design and development of electromechanical devices.

  • Be formally qualified in either Mechanical or Design Engineering in (HND/Degree). 
  • Be fully conversant with a modern 3D CAD package (SolidWorks, Creo or similar) 
  • Have 1st principle mechanical engineering knowledge.
  • Have an appreciation of electrical and electronic applications.
  • A knowledge of software and embedded software applications would be advantageous. 
  • Good project engineering and the ability to create supporting documentation and presentations in relation to project management duties. 
  • Excellent communication skills. 
  • The ability to work well within a team and understand and learn new technology and procedures.

Person Specification

  • A knowledge of civil engineering in general and soil mechanics in particular, to honours degree standard is essential plus 5- 6 years practical experience; this needs to be enhanced by maintaining and awareness of current developments in areas relevant to the Company's civil engineering activities. The jobholder needs to have particular skills amongst which are the following:
  • The level of proficiency required by this job is commensurate with Chartered Engineer status and therefore requires a few years civil engineering experience post-graduation and at least 4 years experience in the geotechnical industry.  Knowledge of contract procedures and planning is also necessary for this job.
  • Good communication abilities are needed as a large amount of discussion with clients, distributors, etc.  takes place both over the telephone and in writing.   Presentation of the Company's design methods at Design Workshops is also an important part of the job. Confidence in the jobholder's, and the Company's, technical expertise needs to be developed quickly.
  • Good project management skills are required to ensure that the design work is efficiently programmed and monitored and a knowledge of Contract Law and the limitations of the Company's professional indemnity insurance are essential.
  • Needs to be able to produce accurate designs and drawings under the constant pressure of a heavy workload. A knowledge of the department's computer software and hardware is essential to provide the necessary technical support.

As a company they design and develop a range of technical mechatronic products that are often required to work in partnership with other electronic technologies and equipment.
