PRODUCTION ENGINEER

We are working with an extremely busy special purpose machinery manufacturer, who have maintained and grown their customer base and business portfolio throughout the pandemic. 

This continued growth and with order books full for 2021 / 2022 means a Production Engineer is required to join an established team and help support the smooth transition and introduction of their machinery and products to market and meet the required delivery targets.  

The Production Engineer will work in a team environment to prepare manufacturing / procurement information that will be as cost effective, functional and reliable as is appropriate to the standards expected of the Company’s equipment.

Responsibilities and Duties of a Production Engineer:

  • Develop and create project Bill of Materials within the company ERP system.
  • Review new design concepts before they are finalised to ensure manufacturability.
  • Liaison with Supply Chain to ensure suitability of manufacturing design.
  • Liaison with suppliers and Procurement Team to arrange quotations against designs in advance of placing requisitions – to allow for efficient order placement once released as the sourcing decision will have been determined.
  • Preparation of detailed parts lists of all items called up on manufacturing drawings and as otherwise required with reference to the Company’s computerised part-numbering system.
  • Compiling, issuing and maintaining all such manufacturing information. 
  • Manage engineering tasks relating to project demands.
  • Own allocated new designs and design changes within product range producing a complete package of documents as necessary to fully establish the design definition.
  • Evaluate components for incorporation into the Company’s products, ensuring that such components are both cost effective and fit for the purpose required.
  • Preparation of design and purchasing specifications.
  • Preparation of cost estimates and outline specifications of design activity for incorporation into quotations.
  • Represent the Team at appropriate meetings and reviews.
  • Ensure that, where appropriate, standard components are used – this requires thoroughly checking the ERP system for existing designs and items already in stock before committing to a new design.

Experience and Qualifications – Production Engineer

  • A formal qualification in Engineering 
  • A working knowledge of Machinery Design and Manufacture 
  • A good understanding of Design Change, NPI and Quality 
  • A proven background in liaison with suppliers and partners.
  • Good experience with ERP systems 
  • Excellent communication skills

  • Ensure process capability and provide support and process improvement to existing and new programs

  • Identify obsolescence
  • Carry out / support trials on site

REQUIREMENT OF THE PROCESS ENGINEER

  • Ideally Degree educated, however equivalent experience is readily considered
  • You will have experience gained form within a manufacturing environment
  • Equipment specification and process optimisation knowledge
  • Assembly, vacuum / thermo forming, general industrial machinery / tooling, setting experience and FMEA
  • Microsoft office
  • A friendly disposition

This is a fast -paced manufacturing environment and would suit an energetic, dynamic individual

SHEQ Manager Key Responsibilities

  • Carry out site inspections to check policies and procedures are being properly implemented/followed
  • Keep records of inspection findings and produce reports suggesting improvements
  • Periodically monitor and update the company training matrix and organise training as required
  • Support the investigation of accidents and near misses and produce relevant statistics
  • Keep up to date all company ISO annual accreditations
  • Periodically review risk assessments for work activities and ensure these conform to the relevant guidance
  • Set up/attend H&S representative meetings. Each month you will report findings of internal audits and any significant H&S issues to the monthly senior management meeting
  • The SHEQ Manager may be required to deliver toolbox talks to the staff should we have a significant H&S incident

Role Function

Reporting to the Training Manager, the Assistant Training Manager will help manage a new training facility, taking day to day control of the design and delivery of theory and practical training packages for clients comprehensive product range and technology training modules.

Assistant Training Manager Candidate Specification

  • The Assistant Training Manager will have experience in delivering both theoretical and practical training
  • Qualified to City & Guilds 3667-2 or -3
  • BT Openreach approved trainer (preferable)
  • Minimum of five years’ experience installing outside plant fiber networks underground and over head
  • Comprehensive knowledge of fiber cable preparation, splicing, connectorisation, cleaning, inspection, use of optical test equipment
  • Comprehensive knowledge of underground and overhead deployment including cabinets, poles, closures, MDU’s and customer connections

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage Copper LAN, Fiber LAN, Fiber to multiple connections
  • Design and delivery of technology training modules

The business has multiple sites, a 76 million turnover with aspirations of pushing on further. This senior Piling Design role is pivotal in the development of the South East Regional Office within the piling discipline. Substantial experience will be gained in CFA, CHD, Tubular Steel and Precast driven piles for a market leading specialist renowned for innovation and development.

  • Reporting to the Area Manager, you will cover all aspects of the regional piling work winning activities with a certain level of autonomy (depending on experience), in respect of pile design and technical sales including CFA, CHD, Tubular Steel and Precast Driven. Some overlap may occur with the Mini piling team in respect of technical support and sales, and liaison with other regions will be required in terms of sales intelligence, pricing levels and R and D.
  • This role offers much diversity in terms of work activities from design, through estimating, technical sales and then follow up, in a demanding yet extremely challenging environment working for a highly regarded specialist.
  • Piling Design will include bearing piles, tension piles laterally loaded piles and retaining walls. Design includes both tender and contract design and site redesign as required.
  • The individual will manage all incoming piling enquiries, including assessment of opportunities and allocation of tenders/designs and includes estimating, tendering and client interaction / negotiation to the point where orders are secured, and provide ongoing support throughout the life of a project if required.
  • There will be some work providing support dealing with site issues as and when these arise. This includes contract redesigns, rectification of design issues and liaising with external approving authorities and Engineers if required.
  • Reporting to the Area Manager the role should provide effective control of the Technical and Estimating element of the discipline ensuring compliance with the company management system and business strategy.

Piling Design Engieer Person Specification:

  • You will preferably be a Chartered Civil Engineer
  • Client is looking for proven Piling Design experience, CFA and retaining walls
  • You will be a solid, well experienced Piling Design Engineer. If required, the estimating side can be taught
  • Flexibility, attending the South East office a couple of times per month
