Environmental Health and Safety Supervisor Duties:

  • Inspect and assess the environment
  • Ensure the manufacturing sites comply with government environmental and safety regulations ISO 14001 : 2015
  • Prevent accidents and protect the employees
  • Present monthly meetings
  • Participate in the revision of the HAZOP analysis
  • Initiate and monitor 5 year plan with regards to safety and environmental objectives
  • Lead investigations after incident, accident or near miss
  • Lead investigations into any environmental discrepancies in terms of emissions, waste and pollution
  • You will be the main point of contact for authorities and legal agencies
  • Risk assessments

Environmental Health and Safety Supervisor Requirements:

  • NEBOS/IBOSH qualified and significant experiencee
  • Calm, patient and assertive, with excellent negotiation, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organisational skills.
  • Capable of acquiring and applying detailed legal, technical, and regulatory information.
  • Membership of a professional body such as the Institute of Occupational Health and Safety

We are currently working with an organisation that designs and manufacture specialist bespoke machinery for customers in the Oli & Gas, Nuclear and the Chemical and Petrochemical industry sectors.

The organisation is currently seeking a Senior Controls Systems Engineer to create & develop, programme & configure and support the commission and build phases of PLC biased controls systems into bespoke machinery.

Projects can vary in size, cost and output, so experience is key with this role to deliver a successful part of the programme within time, budget and spec.

The Senior Control Systems Engineer role is focused on the creation of products in line with customer requirements and budget. This requires large amount of communication with the Engineering team, Customers, Sales, Procurement and Manufacturing. You will be required to provide updates to customers and host design reviews internally and externally, visiting sites where necessary. 

Working in line with the business Quality Management System (QMS) with a focus on continuous improvement of the company and products. The role will be expected to have a comprehensive understanding of PLC * HMI programming and be able to create programs for bespoke systems through modification of existing software and creation of new software. You will work independently, creating programs that satisfy the customers’ requirements.

Responsibilities:

  • Independent programming of Siemens PCL / HMI based systems.
  • Reading and understanding of P&IDs, specifications & control narratives.
  • Carry out regular design reviews with the team and customer.
  • Making modifications to HMI screens and operations in line with internal and external feedback.
  • Specification of requirements to allow third parties to design & build Control Panels.
  • Management of third parties designing electrical control panels.
  • Checking of third-party designs including but not limited to:
  • Control Panel electrical design / physical layout.
  • Electrical control component selection / specification.
  • Electric / Hydraulic / Pneumatic actuation specification.
  • Ensure designs conform to industry, customer and company standards.
  • Analyse designs using suitable tools.

Key Skills:

  • PLC & HMI programming (Siemens).
  • Understanding of relevant industry standards (eg, LVD)
  • Electrical design / component specification/ drafting, (AutoCAD preferred)
  • Familiarity with pressure related products.
  • Strong IT skills: Microsoft Project, Excel, Word, Outlook etc.

Experience & Qualifications:

  • Proven working experience as an Electrical / Controls Engineer programming PLCs
  • BEng or BSc (Hons) in Electrical Engineering or equivalent 
  • Experience working with bespoke systems / machine design and manufacture.
  • Control of electro-mechanical systems, hydraulics and pneumatics or associated supply.
  • Industry experience; (custom machine design, high pressure / hydraulic systems).

DUTIES OF THE QUALITY ENGINEER

  • Monitor customer quality concerns 
  • Identify and close out repetitive concerns
  • Create action plans to improve performance.
  • Discuss / negotiate specific concern boundary 
  • Analyses customer returns, concerns and defects found in the production.
  • Perform Capability Studies and Parts and Process Audits.
  • PPAP preparation – documentation and presentation.
  • Perform Gage Studies (Gage R&R, Bias, Linearity and Stability) 
  • Ensure that continuous improvement is made in all production MEQ quality deliverables 
  • Ensure that customer and internally identified quality issues are resolved using problem solving methods e.g. 8D Report, 
  • Ensure that all quality activities are performed according to BOS, IATF 16949, and ISO 9000, ISO 14001 etc.
  • Support the continuous improvements
  • Identify and use the appropriate statistical tools.

REQUIREMENTS OF THE QUALITY ENGINEER

  • Relevant experience within Quality Engineering
  • A high standard of education is required
  • You will have gained your experience from within a high-volume manufacturing environment
  • Good training in Quality disciplines such as PPAP, FMEA, Control Plans and SPC
  • Must hold a driving licence

  • Strong experience working in the engineering industry as a product development engineer or similar, ideally 5 years plus.
  • Engineering Degree qualified or similar 
  • A background in design and development of new products with experience in non-ferrous metals and metal forming processes.
  • Exposure of design original concept to the design and development of new products.
  • Experience of full product life cycle design including project management.
  • Good experience and competence with 3D CAD
  • Knowledge of FEA stress analysis and FEA simulation software.
