Job Description

We are pleased to be exclusively representing an established manufacturer of capital equipment who are currently seeking an Area Sales Manager.

The company are a European based manufacturer with operations in 10+ countries including the UK with annual turnover in excess of €35m. Their products are used in many different settings including by Civil Engineering Contractors, Construction Contractors, Demolition Contractors, Local Authorities/Municipal, Industrial Cleaning Contractors and more. The product range is highly engineered with equipment ranging in value from £5,000 - £250,000. They are well known in the industries they serve for having high-end products and a highly respected approach to service and maintenance. Due to the nature of the products a highly consultative, solution-led approach is taken to sales, which include capital sales and hire. 

The Area Sales Manager will be rewarded with the following package:

The Area Sales Manager’s responsibilities will include:

  • The sale and hire of capital equipment
  • Driving growth by winning new business within target sectors
  • Providing a consultative, solution-led approach to selling
  • Managing the commercial activity of the branch/showroom which serves the North West 

Area Sales Manager – Required Experience:

  • 5+ years in a business development focused role
  • Strong business development/hunter mindset
  • Record of achieving or exceeding targets
  • Practical/mechanical mindset – you don’t have to be an Engineer but being practical, even just with a hobby, will be a massive advantage in this role 

Area Sales Manager – Beneficial Experience:

  • Experience selling capital equipment 
  • Experience of either working or selling into any of the following industries: Industrial Cleaning, Anti-Corrosion, Demolition, Civil Engineering, Local Authority/Municipal, Concrete Renovation, Abrasive Blasting, Facilities Management 

The Area Sales Manager role will be based out of the client site in the North West of Manchester and candidates will ideally be based within 30 miles, or be willing to relocate.

As an Internal Sales Engineer you will be providing support for the field and house account teams and   working as part of a division who are responsible for delivering a wide array of solutions and technologies into a varied customer base. In your role as a sales engineer, you will be tasked with providing customers information on automation technology, water treatment, chemical systems plants and electronic sensors. 

Sales Engineer Duties:

  • Play a pivotal role in supporting the field sales team and the house account team
  • Contacting existing customers and new prospects to assess business potential
  • Using a variety of sources, initially assess and prepare a prospect, with some company research, before making a telephone call to further qualify the prospect
  • Identify new opportunities
  • Responsibility for entering all activities and assessments into the CRM system
  • Find new sales opportunities

Sales Engineer Requirements:

  • Able to make outbound telephone calls and engage with people in a professional and commercial conversation
  • Skilled in opening and maintaining a conversation to build rapport
  • The ability to demonstrate an interest in automation and manufacturing, with some technical bias in your academic or working life
  • A background in either sales or engineering

As a Technical Sales Engineer you will be working as part of a division who is responsible for delivering a wide array of solutions and technologies into a varied customer base. Technical Sales Engineer Duties:

  • Provide technical support to UK customers & sales colleagues for all company product types responding to technical queries received from all sources (email, phone, www, etc)

  • External sales projects as required. May be product or industry specific

  • An HNC/HND or Higher technical qualifications in either electrical/ Electro-Mechanical/ Electronic Engineering 
  • Technical qualifications in Electrical, Electronics or IT is preferable but not essential

  • An understanding of Electrical schematics or Industrial systems
  • Understanding of industrial automation. Understanding IT system topology

The business is a supplier of quality systems for large engineering projects across a number of sectors.   • Holding a Minimum of 4 years experience within a similar role. 
  • Driven and motivated – able to working within a team / own device.
