Role Overview

Our client is looking for an experienced Manufacturing Process Engineer. Below is an overview of their ‘ideal’ candidate, but they are flexible and are open to considering candidates that do not necessarily have all the qualifications but have sufficient experience with a positive attitude and approach.

Salary: £36,000 - £38,000 per annum, dependant on experience
Hours: 38 per week, Monday to Thursday, 7:15 – 4pm, 12:15pm finish on Friday’s

Candidate Requirements

  • The Manufacturing Process Engineer will be minimum HND Qualified with a desired 2+ years of significant engineering and/or operational experience.
  • Strong knowledge and skills in the use of process development tools is preferred. Experience with Six Sigma/Process Excellence Tools/Lean Manufacturing and Methodologies.
  • Good interpersonal, communication, planning and organizational skills, with ability to make and implement decisions.
  • Knowledge of CNC controlled equipment and machine code/programming whilst not essential would be an advantage along with strong equipment fault-finding, troubleshooting capability.
  • Managing implementation of projects, technology transfer and manufacturing support systems. A hands-on approach is essential, with ownership of products and processes.
  • Must be a team player with good communication skills, written and verbal. Self-motivated striving to find lean solutions to improvements and issues.
  • Has experience of conduct validation and process transfers for equipment, from conception through to Implementation.
  • Has developed and submitted justification for capital equipment projects, with a proven track-record of supporting other plant personnel in process improvement & project management.

Manufacturing Process Engineer Key Responsibilities (but not limited to)

  • The Manufacturing Process Engineer develops, maintains, and ensures compliance with process control plans, quality assurance plans, and procedures.
  • Assist in resolution of manufacturing issues and gives feedback for improvements in manufacturability. Plans and conducts activities related to the development of new processes including researching current and emerging technologies, evaluating process cost, quality, and capability alternatives, and performing process characterization and optimization using problem-solving and decision-making tools.
  • Facilitates technology transfer from process development to manufacturing processes for new product introductions, lead and coordinate all activities for modifications of existing processes, prepare process development protocols and coordinate all activities related to their execution, whilst practicing good project management & cost control.
  • Facilitates communication and relevant training activities and act as liaison between colleagues and other leaders at the site, ensuring that the performance and quality of products conform to established standards, specifications, and customer requirements.
  • Provide day to day Manufacturing Engineering support for the workshop, identifying and initiating process improvements in conjunction with the Production Management team.
  • Work with production, to build and ensure product quality and process capability is delivered, with the ability to conduct operational (Time & Motion) studies to maximize workflow and spatial utilisation.
  • Must be able to read/interpret and develop engineering drawings, develop guidelines and best practices and apply lean manufacturing initiatives and best practices to maximise efficiencies throughout the company.

Reliability Engineer Duties: 

The Engineer will generally work autonomously on a Day-to-Day basis, but support will be in the department and at Senior Management level when required. 

The position will wear a number of hats and will support projects through the design and test phases, into production and then pick up post delivered product issues and faults from customers, when they arise. 

Working closely with the Design Team and Quality Department the role will perform the following daily duties:

  • Checking Engineering Drawings (Solidworks) 
  • Ensure Designs meet the required standards
  • Create Production Design / Process FMECA Reports 
  • Run Analysis Meetings
  • Be involved in Process Change Exercises 
  • Evidence / Data gathering reports 
  • Liaise will all Engineering, Suppliers and Customers 
  • Be the initial point of contact (Customer) 
  • Assessing the suitability of inspection methods 
  • Work closely with the company’s Quality Manager 
  • Understand Design / Production techniques 
  • Ensure design projects are correct, with the right dimensions and geometric tolerances
  • Be the point of contact for all product return issues. 
  • Working through and managing their own workloads and conducting various tasks, the right person will need to be able to communicate effectively with internal and external stakeholders. 

Reliability Requirements 

  • 5 Years+ experience of being in a Design Checking and Documentation type of role 
  • Good exposure of managing reliability reports and exercises 
  • A good working knowledge of products related to Engine, Powertrain, Moving Machinery or Driveline. 
  • Ideally a background in design and developing niche and bespoke products from concept through to final delivery.
  • Excellent communication skills 
  • A formal qualification in engineering

Lead Manufacturing Engineer Key Responsibilities

Being actively involved in the continuous process improvement within assembly/manufacturing, the Manufacturing Engineer will be a key figure in your ability to:

  • Identify and action waste elimination through response to Takt time variation
  • Define and implement build processes with consideration to appropriate Health & Safety and Quality standards
  • Ensure the support process documentation with particular attention to visual management techniques
  • Using a “hands on” approach you will proactively utilise both lean principles and problem-solving tools and techniques within the workplace to respond to “Takt time variation”, build quality issues
  • Investigate and resolve manufacturing related problems, Cost of Quality concerns and issues raised by teams on Problem and Countermeasure boards, leading problem-solving teams where appropriate
  • Management of BOMs and material movement through plan for every part.
  • Develop ergonomic processes designed around Lean Manufacturing principles including Yamazumi and 5S.

We are seeking to recruit a proven Fitter to join an advanced manufacturing plant within the Maintenance and Production team.

As a Fitter you must be able to assemble complete machines and sub-assemblies to customer specifications, and to test completed equipment.

Along with sociable working hours of Monday to Thursday 07:30 to 16:00 with 30-minute unpaid lunch break and Friday 07:30 -12:30

Planner / Scheduler Role Overview

Lead Mechanical Development Engineer Key Responsibilities (this job description is not exhaustive; a full role description will be sent to you)

  • The Lead Mechanical Development Engineer will technically lead new product development projects from the feasibility phase through to implementation in production.
  • Work closely with other departments (Production, Production Engineering, Test and Validation, Purchasing, Quality, Product Management) during the new product development process to maximise the potential of new products with respect to design for manufacture and assembly, cost, performance, quality and reliability.
  • Preparation of manufacturing drawings and BOM’s using SolidWorks CAD and PLM software. When required, technically assess and implement design change requests related to the full product range.
