Reporting to the Operations Director, they are looking to recruit an experienced Project Planner, to join their established projects team. 

Project Planner Hours and Benefits

  • Monday to Friday, 8am – 5pm, with a 1-hour lunch
  • £30,000 - £40,000, negotiable dependant on experience

Person Specification

  • The ideal candidate will have exceptional scheduling skills previously utilised in a heavy engineering / major construction environment. It is expected that the successful candidate would be capable of managing the general requirements of the task themselves. Supervision and guidance would be given initially from others.
  • The Project Planner will be involved in projects that are usually mechanically biased and can consist of the following phases: concept design, design analysis, detail design, procurement, manufacture, freight, installation, and commissioning. Along with resource allocation and cost monitoring. Projects can be at either enquiry/estimating stage or order stage.
  • Project value can be up to the region of US$20m. Final installation site could be in any worldwide location and would usually contain elements being sourced from different global locations, be this varied company facilities or sub-suppliers worldwide. It is essential that a workable strategy is implemented that enables regular, simple, and concise updates to be obtained from all parties involved that contribute to the execution of a successful overall project.
  • The Project Planner will have expert skill levels in both Microsoft Office suite, and Microsoft Project are mandatory. Superb communication abilities are also essential, relevant to telephone, email, and face to face. 
  • PMP certification or an interest in pursuing this would be advantageous although not essential.

Key Responsibilities (not limited to)

  • The Project Planner will create, manage, and monitor multiple project schedules and executive summaries simultaneously. Enabling reports to be distributed to clients and stakeholders in accordance with pre-agreements and/or contractual document submittal details. Any issues should be identified as they occur and communicated to the predefined project specific stakeholders.
  • A willingness to learn the business and its extensive product range is expected which may involve time spent on the shop floor. Similarly, an understanding of the relevant internal workflows and procedures would be expected in time.

Planner / Buyer Candidate Specification

  • Minimum of 2 - 5 years of procurement experience, preferably in a heavy manufacturing or industrial environment.
  • Proficient computer skills in MS Office. (Word, Excel, Outlook), with excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Purchasing & Engineering Change experience in an MRP environment
  • Strong ability to assess engineering drawings and proceed to RFQ based on supplier capability, strong negotiating skills, ability to multitask, prioritize work and work closely with other departments.
  • Familiar with standard concepts, practices, and procedures within the procurement field.
  • Be able to take responsibility for resolution of issues.
  • You should be self-motivated, and results orientated and be able to work to time constraints & use own initiatives to solve problems.

Planner / Buyer Key Tasks

  • Buying responsibility for designated fabrication vendors to support plant & chamber production.
  • Ensure inventory levels are kept within set targets.
  • Support efforts to reduce RAW & WIP inventory.
  • Identify opportunities & support efforts to reduce cost.
  • Support NPPD activities, when requested.

Key Responsibilities (but not limited to)

  • Works with operations, planning and organizing all tasks.
  • The Planner / Buyer will review purchase request for material via MRP or manual purchase requisition.
  • Monitor purchase orders & net demand schedules to ensure required ‘need dates’ are achieved.
  • Must be able to develop excellent working relationship with both internal and external customers as well as suppliers.
  • Maintain supplier relationships in order to drive cost reductions while continually achieving the highest level of quality material.
  • Ability to interface with company and supplier senior management. Excellent negotiation, presentation, verbal and written communication skills.
  • Plan & expedite the required material to ensure availability to meet production demand whilst maintaining inventory levels to a minimum and in line with set targets.

This exciting new role is for a Engineering Supervisor (Milling and Turning), working for a very well-established engineering company.

A brief overview for this Engineering Supervisor (Milling/Turning) is as follows:

  • Start Date: Asap
  • Role Duration: Permanent
  • Location: Nottingham/Derby
  • Working Hours – Week 1 – Monday to Friday: 6am to 2pm and Week 2 – Monday to Friday: 2pm to 10pm
  • Pay: £35,000 to £40,000 per annum

Essential experience required for this Engineering Supervisor role:

  • You’ll be an experienced CNC Supervisor who is able to lead a team. 
  • The role will include the day-to-day management of key CNC machining areas on site which will include 3 and 5 Axis CNC machines. 
  • Able to demonstrate a good understanding of KPI management. 
  • Identify initiatives to drive improvements, creating a lean environment.

Candidate Requirements

  • Qualified engineer to ONC/HNC level in Mechanical/ Production Engineering preferred.

  • A broad knowledge of machined components and Lean Manufacturing techniques.
  • Experienced in machine tool programming (HyperMill an advantage).
  • Familiarity with writing specifications, procedures and instructions.

Production Engineer Role Summary

  • To produce accurate specifications for machined and fabricated components.
  • Enable the manufacture of existing designs by remodelling, and create tool designs, in CAD.

Production Engineer Key Responsibilities

  • The Production Engineer will produce accurate Methods of Manufacture for machined and fabricated components.
  • Tool and fixture designs on CAD, along with Engineering CAD models from existing designs to support their aftermarket offering.
  • You will produce DXF files from engineering models.
  • Carry out continuous improvement project work across a range of processes.
  • Resolve problems and improve processes, methods within manufacturing teams.
  • Provide support for technical queries for all areas of the business and provide an effective Interface between technical and shop floor personnel.
  • Develop ideas for reducing costs in the business.
  • Support and promote our continuous improvement culture and support the Manufacturing Engineering Manager as and when required.

The company operate a day shift with working hours 7am – 3.30pm
