Contracts Manager Salary and Benefits

  • £50,000 - £55,000
  • Plus, car allowance (£500 per month, £6,000 per year)

Contracts Manager Role Overview

The Contracts Manager will profitably manage and develop the Contracts Department incorporating Installations, Maintenance & Electrical Design within the agreed Business Plan.


Contracts Manager Person Specification

  • Experience of Project Planning, People Management and Motivation, ensuring projects are delivered on time, safely and profitably.
  • A self-motivated Manager who is able to work well within a team of Managers and on their own initiative.
  • Excellent multi-tasker with the ability to manage their time to meet deadlines.
  • An excellent communicator, who is able to communicate effectively across all levels of the business. 
  • A holder of a health and safety qualification, ideally IOSH or NEBOSH.
  • Previous experience in the steel erection / steelwork industry would be an advantage.
  • Possess excellent IT skills and knowledgeable in Microsoft Outlook, Word & Excel.
  • Be prepared to role your sleeves up and get your hands dirty.
  • Visit sites and clients in conjunction with the sales team and engage with clients to demonstrate a proficiency in company operations.


Contracts Manager Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee all activities within the Department including Project Management, QS and estimating ensuring they all deliver on time and in compliance with the customer orders.
  • Monitor and advise on overhead and profit management for projects.
  • Negotiation with Sub-Contractors.
  • To ensure adequate provisions are made to ensure the safe delivery of all activities, including (but not limited to) overseeing RAMS, training and the safe use of plant and equipment.
  • Implement agreed Business Plans to achieve targeted growth and profit levels for the business.

Key Responsibilities

  • The Steelwork Estimator will review technical drawings and initial scope of works for all enquiries.
  • Ensure all relevant industry standards and procedures are available for enquiries.
  • Develop a bill of quantity for all steelwork and associated products within a given tender.
  • Forecast fabrication, metal finish and installation requirements of projects.
  • Ensure any formal programs for the project received from customers are filed with tenders, to allow successful project management.
  • Consider all Health & Safety, Environmental and Quality management systems requirements for tenders.
  • Produce final tender documents including full cost base and scope of works.
  • Update the Enquiry Management Access database with all relevant information.
  • Make projects live on Exchequer when orders are confirmed.
  • Store tender related documents on the T: drive within the customer related directories.
  • Liaising with clients to confirm works and attending sites to complete surveys when necessary.
  • Agreeing specifications of work with clients and making adequate notes to enable the manufacture and installation of projects.
  • Periodically contacting customers to chase up tender acceptance.

The Role

Due to the growth of the company, the business is seeking an enthusiastic CAD Engineer to join their Design department. The role will be to specialise in the design of retail equipment within Interior Shop Fit Outs. Knowledge of CAD Design, Autodesk Inventor or Solidworks and having a background within retail shopfitting would be hugely advantageous. 

The ideal candidate will be able to work as part of a team and follow instructions but also act on your own accord, whilst working to tight deadlines and schedules. The role will be to create full production drawing packs, create cutting list and requisition sheets whilst supporting the rest of the team, ensuring all projects are delivered on schedule and on budget.

  • Highly proficient in Solidworks packages or Autodesk Inventor
  • Experience in the design and manufacture of retail equipment / retail interiors (this experience would be a big advantage)

Role Function (NB: Please note – this is not an IT role)

The Application Engineer team within the company is growing to support the ever-increasing number of clients and the application driven business focus. The core purpose of the team is to provide support as the 
first line of technical help for Partners, Customers and the Regional Sales Managers. Through deep 
understanding of company products and knowledge of the applicable regional standards / regulations, the candidate will be expected to provide guidance to customers during pre-sales discussions. 

The role then focuses on the post sales elements of identifying issues and supporting technical questions through to resolution for products in the field.

Essential Candidate Requirements 

  • The Application Engineer will have experience in technical support, field service, or engineering roles working with safety products or in industrial automation.
  • A Degree would be ideal (Electrical or Mechanical) but isn’t essential.
  • 1-3 years of experience in technical support, field service, or engineering roles.
  • Knowledge of programmable logic controllers (PLCs), human-machine interfaces (HMIs), and related automation technologies. Hands-on experience preferred.
  • Proficiency in troubleshooting and resolving technical issues. 
  • Strong communication skills for effectively interacting with customers, both verbally and in writing. 
  • Ability to work collaboratively within a team and with cross-functional departments (e.g., Design, Quality, Sales, Engineering).


Other Useful / Non-Essential Experience

  • Familiarity with Machinery Safety Standards and Regulations would be a big advantage.
  • Additional certifications related to automation, control systems, or safety engineering.
  • Knowledge of industrial communication protocols (e.g. Profinet, Ethernet/IP, Ethercat).
  • Experience with software tools used in automation (e.g., Siemens TIA Portal, Rockwell Automation Studio 5000).

  • The Application Engineer will review customers concerns or questions, via all platforms to quickly understand their pain points and provide a suitable resolution, where a resolution is not immediately available process in line with tech support/quality procedures. 
  • Providing technical support to customers via face-to-face onsite visits, telephone, and other platforms to support pre, during and post sales. 
  • Establish best practices for technical account management and demonstrate to internal sales team to help them, resolve customers issues, support an internal process for knowledge share.

The ideal candidate will have knowledge of electrical controls within machine building. You must have a background in Programming Siemens PLCs.
