PURCHASING COORDINATOR

Job Description

Probe Technical are looking to recruit a full time and permanent Purchasing Coordinator to join a very busy production facility near Banbury. This is a fast-paced role that needs high attention in the small team. You must be a motivated individual who will be able to direct and coordinate the purchase of a range of materials for the Company whilst ensuring that they are working in accordance with specifications, budgets and agreed quality standards.

The package details for the role of Procurement Coordinator include the below and further at interview:

  • Salary £32,000 - £35,000 depending on experience 
  • Hours: 09:00 – 17:00 Monday to Friday, 1 hour lunch, 35 hours per week
  • Pension – 3% paid via salary sacrifice, saving you tax and NI contributions
  • Annual Salary Reviews – an annual pay review is conducted every January 
  • Holiday –23 days plus Bank Holidays, rising to 25 after 5 years’ service 
  • Family friendly – Enhanced maternity, paternity and shared parental leave pay, as well as an annual family fun day 
  • Death in service benefit – 2 x annual salary

Along with 2 years Procurement experience ideally in a manufacturing environment; you will need excellent communication skills, with an ability to balance conflicting demands. Excellent time management with an ability to remain calm under pressure in an ever-changing environment.

Other key duties for the Purchasing Coordinator role involve:  

  • Analyse the daily stock requirement report spreadsheet, placing the necessary purchase orders using Suppliers/Pricing Structures set up by the Buyers whilst maintaining safety stocks and not exceeding stock parameters or warehouse capacity
  • Monitor purchase orders to ensure that materials are confirmed, delivered on time, at the agreed price, within agreed specification and comply with the company’s quality standards.
  • Maintain regular contact with suppliers to resolve any problems to meet production requirements. 
  • Maintain and update raw material ‘Goods In’ schedule for the Warehouse Department, keeping within daily and weekly delivery quotas and ensure regular communication to minimise any adverse factors that may lead to missed production schedules and transport deadlines. 
  • Work with Accounts and Buyers to resolve invoice queries. 

We would be keen to also speak to Purchasing Assistants, Procurement Coordinators and Buyers. This role is commutable from Oxford, Banbury, Northampton and Coventry.

Role Overview

This is an important role within the Supply Chain Team - it requires a committed and customer focused individual with a supplier centric approach to global multi-site manufacturing. There will be opportunity to gain a thorough understanding of the company products and the Supply Chain. This will involve gaining knowledge of Suppliers, Products, and Global Operational activity. 

You will be proactive and driven to support the business units to generate growth through your pragmatic and imaginative approach to their Procurement and Supply Chain activity. The Buyer – Manufacturing position reports directly into the Purchasing Manager, operating within a team covering all procurement processes for the organisation. 

As part of a small team, the business requires an experienced Buyer - Manufacturing to bring professionalism and critical thinking to the Purchasing Department. A critical part of the company growth strategy will be focused on the ability of the department to evolve the existing supply chain and remain agile.

The right candidate is expected to be confident in buying for all areas but will specifically need to be familiar and confident with manufacturing procurement. 

You will be expected to work with many stakeholders including Production, Stores, Engineering and Project Management to achieve the best business outcomes.


Buyer – Manufacturing Candidate Requirements 

  • Proven experience of a fast-paced manufacturing procurement, including a familiarisation of working with BoMs and ability to interpret technical drawings.
  • Ability to work, tactically and operationally.
  • Proven negotiation skills, contract management and the ability to forge relationships across all levels of the business.
  • Proven track record of being accountable across a variety of roles within Procurement.
  • Commercial and financial acumen, with sound analytical skills and attention to detail.
  • Demonstrated “global mindset” with the ability to think across disciplines, industries, cultures and scenarios.
  • High work ethic with strong focus on excellent customer service.
  • Good presentation and communication skills. 
  • High level of Excel competency. 
  • Able to interpret technical / safety regulatory information.
  • Clean UK driving license require with a willingness to travel.
  • A strong culture fit – with a bias for action, accountability and teamwork.

Buyer – Manufacturing Key Responsibilities

  • Manage spend on various categories across multiple manufacturing sites taking a sustainable supplier centric approach.
  • Negotiate stock holding agreements or other methods to enable smooth materials flow.
  • Identify and mitigate risks in the supply chain to maximise customer order delivery success.
  • Effective communication of any parts availability risk ensuring that all options to resolve any availability concern is fully explored and appropriate action taken.
  • Purchase Order placement for both system driven manufacturing materials and requisitioned parts.
  • Identify and implement process improvements in conjunction with cross-functional project teams.
  • Supplier development to support achievement of KPIs.
  • Manage vendor performance including involvement with supplier audits.
  • Identify potential new suppliers and negotiate best terms from all suppliers.
  • Interaction with stakeholders at all levels both internally and externally.
  • Involvement with NPD, NPI and engineering change activity and effective co-ordination of suppliers and stock requirements

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • As Senior Quality Engineer, you will play a critical role in managing quality processes, leading a team of professionals, and driving improvements in product quality and efficiency. This role requires a strong leader with experience in quality assurance, problem-solving methodologies, and effective communication across teams and with customers.
  • Key Responsibilities:
  •  Manage and guide employees within the SQA and Production Quality teams, ensuring effective collaboration and alignment with organizational goals.
  • Quality Standards Development: Define and implement local Business Unit (BU) quality standards, including work instructions, limit sample lists, and inspection plans, in coordination with BU Production Quality.:
  • Conduct weekly quality improvement meetings to review product quality metrics, scrap rates, and error analyses.
  • Drive the Continuous Improvement Process (CIP) and corrective action implementation to reduce scrap and improve quality outcomes.
  • Lead and coordinate the 8D problem-solving process for quality complaints.
  • Manage internal documentation and update customer portals for complaint resolution.
  • Generate and present 8D reports, ensuring thorough root cause analysis and effective corrective actions.
  • Attend daily Production Quality meetings and monthly Team Leader meetings with senior management to report KPIs.
  • Occasional Supplier / customer visits

REQUIREMENTS

  • Significant Senior Quality Engineering experience
  • Proficiency in Quality standards and methodologies (8D, FMEA, Control Plans and PPAP’s) 
  • Familiarity with metrology and techniques
  • Strong leadership qualities
  • Experience with Supplier visits
  • Excellent analysis, attention to detail 
  • To have the ability to coordinate

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Team Leadership: Manage and mentor the MRP & Warehouse team, providing performance appraisals and fostering growth.
  • Strategic Planning: Oversee resource planning, including material procurement, production scheduling, and delivery planning, ensuring seamless operations.
  • Host weekly meetings to maintain the integrity of master data and MRP- activities
  • Control and monitor budget allocations for MRP & Warehouse activities.
  • Inventory Management: Conduct regular inventory checks and annual counts in coordination with the Production Controller.
  • Process Optimization: Ensure compliance with company standards and continuously improve logistics processes, from goods receipt to dispatch.
  • Collaborate with the Quality team to generate 8D reports for resolving quality complaints.
  • Perform SAP checks to align system records with actual inventory.
  • Report KPIs in monthly team lead meetings and provide regular updates in daily supply chain briefings.

REQUIREMENTS

  • Proven experience in supply chain operations, material resource planning, and warehouse management.
  • You will bring knowledge that would also include exposure to manufacturing
  • Strong leadership skills to inspire and guide teams toward shared goals.
  • Expertise in data accuracy, budget management, and process optimization.
  • Familiarity with SAP and inventory control processes.

CMM Programmer Candidate Requirements

  • It is essential that the CMM Programmer has Mitutoyo machines experience.
  • Proficiency with MCOSMOS programming system.
  • Ability to read and interpret complex engineering drawings and blueprints.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Good communication skills and the ability to work effectively in a team environment.
  • Experience in machining and assembly of components industries is preferred.


CMM Programmer Key Responsibilities

  • The CMM Programmer will develop and execute CMM programs using the MCOSMOS software.
  • Perform precise measurements and inspections of components using Mitutoyo CMM equipment.
  • Interpret engineering drawings and specifications to ensure accurate measurements.
  • Conduct routine maintenance and calibration of CMM equipment.
  • Analyse measurement data and generate detailed inspection reports.
