Senior Buyer Person Specification

The Senior Buyer will have sound knowledge of Purchasing procedures and practices; good general understanding of business and the role of Purchasing. Your experience will include:

  • Must have knowledge of engineering processes, machining and / or fabrication knowledge would be useful, with a good level of education, preferably CIPS and/or degree level.
  • Well organised with good time management skills; able to prioritise. You will be self-motivated and able to work on your own initiative, with a high level of personal and professional integrity.
  • Strong negotiation skills, strong contractual and commercial competence.
  • Ability to work within a team environment, and to identify and exploit opportunities.
  • Strong analytical and presentational skills, a good team player with excellent communication skills.
  • Flexible and able to adapt/change strategies to meet differing circumstances. Ability to promote the role of Purchasing to colleagues in other functions within the organisation.
  • Strong computer skills with good knowledge of MS Office

Senior Buyer Key Responsibilities

  • Proactively optimise the supply of goods and services in line with timing requirements and to the correct quality, to reduce costs and continuously improve service from the company supply chain, whilst providing exemplary customer service.
  • Provide a day-to-day purchasing and tendering function to achieve the objectives of the Company, ensuring outsourced parts are to optimum value, required quality and delivered on time; to develop and communicate appropriate strategic plans to achieve these objectives.
  • The Senior Buyer will develop and maintain low-cost sources of supply in line with Company policy, responsible for identifying potential savings, with a responsibility for cost reduction initiatives.
  • Monitor all key suppliers, ensuring corrective action as needed for any identified quality issues. To plan, hold and report on regular key supplier meetings.
  • Liaise with customer departments to ensure early involvement in new projects. Ensure that Purchasing take the lead in all aspects of the supplier relationship.
  • Keep the Procurement Manager fully briefed on all key issues, as well as working within the Outsource team and support the Outsource Manager.
  • Deputise for the Procurement Manager as and when required, undertake specific projects as and when required, and develop KPI and presentation tools for information sharing across the EMEA group.

Experience and responsibilities for this FLT counterbalance driver/warehouse operative – PM shift role:

  • Must have a current FLT counterbalance license with a minimum of 2 years experience
  • Ability to read technical drawings. 
  • Good organisation & communication skills essential.

Production Planner Function:

  • The Production Planner will plan, schedule and monitor workload through manufacturing components.
  • Ensure components workload is planned in advance for each resource in manufacturing, to enable the delivery of the correct materials/tools/programs etc. Thus, enabling the accurate delivery of spares and capital work to internal and external customers.

Person Specification:

  • Ability to plan and communicate production orders under pressure.
  • Excellent communication skills. The Production Planner will be able to interact well with internal and external customers.
  • Proficient use of computer systems and software applications.
  • In‐depth knowledge of ERP or MRP software preferred.
  • Minimum of 5 years production planning experience in a related industry.

Production Planner Key Responsibilities (but not limited to):

  • Compliance with the Health & Safety Policy, to be aware of and follow all company Health & Safety policies and procedures, in respect of self and others.
  • Ensure correct load is planned to each resource in components and monitor delivery of components through the business.
  • Develop accurate scheduling system to constantly improve internal delivery. Work with PED/Purchasing/Stores/Manufacturing to ensure all requirements are met before jobs are loaded into the manufacturing plan.
  • To review requirements for developing an efficient manufacturing planning department, develop manufacturing scheduling using MRP system.
  • Produce production reports on adherence and co-ordinate exceptions to build schedule through manufacturing.
  • Point of contact for manufacturing schedule exceptions, raising concerns when load exceeds production capacity with production control.

Role Function

Reporting to the Production Manager, the Section Leader will manage a team of people within a designated Manufacturing section. You will have direct day-to-day responsibility for the communication, workload, quality and staff performance of all activities within the designated manufacturing team.

You will also be responsible for maintaining a safe working environment, by ensuring that all health and safety regulations are strictly adhered to, and to identify areas for improvement and drive through changes to gain bottom line results.

Person Specification

  • The Section Leader will be self-motivated and quality conscious.
  • PC literate (ideally Epicor & Office).
  • Confident and decisive, with good people management and communication skills.
  • Tenacity and drive to bring about improvements.
  • Sound technical knowledge of capital equipment and spares manufacture. 
  • Able to liaise with Technical and Production Engineering to improve and develop products, and able to work within cross-functional teams to achieve business results.
  • Excellent planning and organisational skills.

Section Leader Key Responsibilities (but not limited to)

  • Assist the Production Manager in implementing process change initiatives, cost reductions and achieving performance improvement targets.
  • Manage the department’s production workload, equipment utilisation, and to ensure health and safety adherence.
  • Discipline, time and attendance, and performance appraisals for all direct reports, attending or chair daily/weekly/monthly meetings and briefs, as required, in order to communicate departmental/company information.
  • Ensure safe and clean working practices are adhered to, as identified via housekeeping audits and actively reduce or eliminate ‘waste’ activities and challenge existing processes and procedures.
  • To make sure orders and resources are prioritised and communicated accordingly, reporting quality issues to continually improve product and process quality.
  • Deputise for the Production Manager and other Section Leaders, as and when required.
  • Drive and be a role model for the company values & behaviours.

This exciting new role is for a Laser Setter Operator, working for a long-established company. An immediate start is available, following a short working interview.

A brief overview of the Laser Setter/Operators role is as follows:

  • Must have proven experience of setting a Bystronic machines
  • Breaking out components and sorting for inspection/delivery
  • Loading and unloading the machine
  • Work safely in a busy workspace alongside fellow workers
  • The role requires ability to work in groups alongside others operating machinery in the same workshop.

The ideal candidate for this Laser Setter/Operator role must be experienced in:

  • Previous experience using Bystronic machines is essential 
  • Previous site experience would be advantageous together with a FLT license
  • Operating in a fast-paced environment to meet deadlines.
