Role Overview

The Engineering Buyer will proactively optimise the supply of goods and services in line with timing requirements and to the correct quality, to reduce costs and continuously improve service, whilst providing exemplary customer service

Engineering Buyer Pay, Hours and Benefits

  • £33,000 - £35,000
  • Monday to Thursday, 7:30am – 4pm, 12:30pm Finish on Friday’s
  • 30 days holiday (inc statutory) plus an additional three days at Christmas

Engineering Buyer Person Specification

  • CIPS or a degree would be ideal but are not essential.
  • Good knowledge of engineering, particularly machining processes or able to demonstrate relevant experience.
  • Machining and / or fabrication knowledge.
  • Sound knowledge of Purchasing procedures and practices; good general understanding of business and the role of Purchasing.
  • Must have knowledge of engineering processes and the ability to read technical drawings.  
  • Strong negotiation skills, strong contractual and commercial competence.

Engineering Buyer Key Responsibilities (but not limited to)

  • Provide a day-to-day purchasing and tendering function to achieve the objectives of the Company.
  • Ensure outsourced parts are to optimum value, required quality and delivered on time; to develop and communicate appropriate strategic plans to achieve these objectives.
  • Develop and maintain low-cost sources of supply in line with Company policy.
  • Responsible for identifying potential savings and implementing continuous cost reduction initiatives.
  • Monitor all key suppliers, ensuring corrective action as needed for any identified quality issues. To plan, hold and report on regular key supplier meetings.
  • Liaise with customer departments to ensure early involvement in new projects.

Working pattern will be 8.00am-5.15pm Monday-Thursday and 8.00am-12.00pm Friday.

MAINTENANCE ENGINEER

I am recruiting a very exciting opportunity for a Maintenance Engineer for my client based in Grantham.

As a Maintenance Engineer your role will be to carry out planned maintenance across the Factory and Wastewater Treatment Plant. You will complete PPMs and PTIs onsite whilst always ensuring that there is a proactive approach to planned maintenance.

The shift pattern for this role is an 8-week rotation and includes 12-hour shifts covering days, nights & weekends.
